Alright settle in, I'm about to tell you about an awesome product. Get your popcorn and Cherry Coke or whatever your poison is and relax. This beauty above is the new powder from Algenist. It's a color correcting setting powder basically. I got this purely on a whim. I didn't really expect much, I'm not a huge fan of pressed powders, but this is awesome. I wanted to try it just from all the claims it had and just to see if it could actually color correct. However, when reading the description it was basically a powder for everyone and skin tone, that made your skin look better instead of correcting major discolorations. Which makes more sense. It claims to: "This lightweight finishing powder for all skintones enhances the look of foundation, or bare skin, in any light. AlgaCorrecting complex plus an algae-derived ingredient combine for glowing, luminous-looking skin, while optical diffusers blur the appearance of pores and fine lines and wrinkles—visibly smoothing skin. Perfect for on-the-go touch ups, Color Correcting Finishing Powder absorbs excess oil and keeps skin looking fresh and radiant all day." That is from the Sephora site. So upon reading that I was actually really intrigued. Plus it looks very cool. I got this and the packaging was super sleek and nice. It was heavy it closes magnetically and it's just feels very well made and sturdy so I loved that. It's simple yes, but it's nice.
When you swatch it you don't see much of anything and it doesn't feel like it's crazy soft or anything more than a pressed powder until you put this on. I'm here to tell you that, I am not a person who likes pressed powder and I only use powder under my eyes in general. I don't set my face with powder or anything.....until now. This absolutely makes your skin look smoother. I am not kidding, this is by far the BEST powder I have ever used that has made such a difference. I was getting compliments all day on how NICE and smooth my SKIN looked. Not my "makeup" looked good, people were actually noticing my skin looking really smooth, almost airbrushed. Now there are little specs of shimmer or glitter in it by no means is it shimmery like a highlighter but you do see a few specs from time to time. Some people don't like that, personally it doesn't bother me because it just makes my skin look more radiant. My under eye area especially was so smooth, no lines, no creasing in the concealer or anything. It really made a difference on me. Of course not every pore was gone or line removed but my skin looked BETTER. It may be different for you, but for me it's my go to powder and I put it all over my face. So that my entire face looks airbrushed. I love this powder I can not stress it enough. It's $38 and worth every penny in my opinion of course if you didn't like it you could always return it. I want you to realize though that this isn't gonna be a major color corrector for you. It's not going to cancel out your sallow skin, redness, dark circle, etc, all that much. Maybe it will some but what this powder does is ENHANCES the overall look of your skin. Not even your makeup really but your skin. It's makes your skin look like it's smoother, tighter, healthier, glowing, so on so forth. Below are some pictures of the first day I used it. I had nothing else on except foundation and winged liner obviously. Cause I wanted to see what this could do. In the close up you should see some of the small sparkles I mentioned earlier. Not entirely noticeable. Not like "oh you have glitter on your face". Not to me anyway. So hopefully this might be a holy grail powder for you as well. I'll leave the link to it here. I really like this way of sharing your makeup, I haven't learned how to put on eyeliner.
