Hey guys, I'm currently writing you whilst inside a hospital. My husband is having surgery after a freak accident happened. So I'm hanging out, mask on and everything, writing blog posts. I'm being as careful as can be. We have no other choice but to have surgery and just glad we're still in the window to have it. He's never had surgery, unlike me. So that's equally scary. I'm the only one allowed in. Everyone else has to wait in their cars in the parking lot. So it is, what it is. Today I'm writing about the May Allure Beauty Box. It's been a little bit since I done one. I love this month's box though. I also got it super early. It's really good. It's a lot more skincare and I'm so glad because we've been quarantined for so long that all anyone is really doing is skincare, and it's been a great time to get into a good skincare routine if you didn't already have one. Also a good time to branch out and try some new products that have maybe been sitting there that you weren't sure of. Possibly even extend your routine by adding in a treatment or more antioxidants, or downsize your routine because you realize you're doing to much. That's actually what I've tried to do is downsize......it didn't really work but my routines are far more thought out these days.
So this month we have: When Beauty "Glamour Base" Bio-Cellulose sheet mask (feels like a gel sheet mask). They are my favorite brand of sheet masks. I've never met one I didn't like. They feel amazing, they stay in place, they're nice and thick. I love them. Curology "Smooth Sailing" Moisturizer. I had never tried anything from Curology, I understand it's a customized service usually based on what your skin needs. I like the moisturizer quite a bit from what I've tried of it so far. What's super cool is that due to this being in the box, they're offering a free customized formula and a cleanser and moisturizer for recipients of the box. That's epic! Skin Inc. "My Daily Dose of Glow" Serum. This is full size, it's huge, it's gorgeous with little two tone beads in the serum. It's to brighten the skin. It's a beautiful formula. It has encapsulated Vitamin A, Chlorella, and Hyaluronic Acid. So it is quite luminous but thanks to the studies they've done, it's been helpful for hyperpigmentation after using it for one month. AHC Essential Real Eye Cream for Face. The name confused me I'm not gonna lie. This is also full size and it's amazing. Basically it's a concentrated eye cream that instead of only using it around the eye area, they decided why not make it for the whole face to get it done in one go. Which I think is a really great idea and I don't know why more companies don't take that approach. Because it's one less step in the routine, it may very well be less expensive than if you were to buy a separate eye cream to your moisturizer. The formula is fantastic. It's a vitamin and peptide complex, and you know I love my peptides. This is my favorite product out of the box for sure. Acure Resurfacing Glycolic and Unicorn Root Cleanser. Not gonna lie, this made me look up "Unicorn Root". "Aletris farinosa" is it's other name and it's been used by herbalists for ages, it "has estrogen-like properties and can help counteract the effects of estrogen loss in the skin". Apparently, estrogen loss in the skin actually thins the skin and causes a reduction in collagen production as the years go on. That's just a little side bar, that I wanted to share with you since I'd looked it up. Anyway, I've tried a previous cleanser from Acure which was a physical exfoliator. This is in a little pouch with a twist cap, I've seen this packaging more and more lately and I think that's very cool. It's 100% Vegan, and free of sulfate, paraben, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, and also cruelty free. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel. This is a cult favorite and a classic. It's perfect travel size for your bag. It's the first brow gel to change the game. People were using clear mascaras before this came crashing in. Trust me, I remember. It's a perfect clear brow gel. I know some boxes got a VDL primer, which is very good and I have it, but I got the Proenza Schouler Arizona perfume sample. Which is pretty big. Smells amazing. I'd like a full size. I'm very hard on perfume though. However, the last few months have been a real hit for me regarding finding scents that I like. I don't know if other brands or scents are just getting their turn in the spot light now or if people finally realized not everyone wants to smell like a bakery, candy, heavy musk, vanilla, or heavy floral. Whatever happened, I'm super happy about it. Because this is the 3rd perfume that I like enough to buy. That is the end of the box, you always get the little pamphlet that gives you descriptions of your products and some promo codes to use. I will definitely be looking at it for that perfume to see if there's a discount for that. They do send these to me. I'm not obligated to talk about them but I do appreciate them. This one was super impressive to me.
