So I've already talked about the new Benefit launch of brow products in the last couple weeks. I did a more in depth review of the Ka-Brow product. So I'm not going to talk to heavily about that. I did get the Goof Proof pencil and the 3d Brow Tones though and I wanted to discuss both of those with you. For reference all 3 products are $24 each. There are roughly 12 products in the whole collection including tools, brushes and all. First up lets talk Goof Proof pencil. This pencil on first glance is like a prettier version of the ABH Brow Definer. BUT on closer look it's not exactly angled, it's more diamond shaped kinda as opposed to triangular, with the longer part being the tip of it. I'm gonna get straight to it and tell you that I like this a lot. I think I like it a bit more than the ABH Brow Definer to be honest and I never thought I would say that. This is SO easy to sculpt the brows with where as the Brow Definer is so easy to fill the brows with and give some shape too but not harshly sculpt. This deposits color easier and the shape of the pencil stays pretty thin so it literally GLIDES on the skin. Where I feel like after the Brow Definer has been used quite a bit you have to work harder at getting it built up or shaped the way you want it. Now in saying that, I know this is called the Goof Proof pencil but I have gotten a little crazy with it and made mistakes, it's easy to clean up and it boils down to me not paying attention really. However, it does make brows easier and it's super quick and easy to blend out or clean up but just note it will very easily deposit color where you don't want it if you aren't paying attention. So I use shade 5 just like in the Ka-Brow. There are 6 shades so ideally I would like to see more shades but whatever. I think it's a really good product none the less. Plus the packaging for this entire collection was inspired by "magic wands" and lets just say...I have a Gryffindor scarf in my closet. Soooooooo.......well done Benefit, Well done. Next up is the 3d Brow Tones. Now these come in 2 shades. I got shade 2 because it was lighter and I heard that if you wanted it to be more noticeable on the brows, to get the lightest shade (2) even if you have really dark hair. So that's what I did. It is noticeable, don't get it twisted it is noticeable when close up. Which you wouldn't want it to be noticeable far away. In pictures of close ups of my eye makeup I see it better than when I look in the mirror. I don't mind how it looks, I just don't feel that it makes it look any more dimensional or more natural looking which is what I've heard several people say that it does. Perhaps it does for them and that's awesome, for me however I don't view it as a game changer or really that much of a help. I like it and I'm gonna keep it but it's something that I sometimes forget to use or that I don't give much thought to. So it's neither here nor there for me. I think it's a very cool concept but it's just not "up-ing" my brow game for me like I thought and hoped it would. Also seeing as I got the lightest shade and it's just noticeable enough I'm guessing the darker shade wouldn't have been noticeable hardly at all in which case I would've been very bummed. Lastly is the Ka-Brow which I've talked more in depth about in a previous post, which I will link here, so I'm just going to update you on it now. I still don't like the brush but I took some scissors to it and it's vastly improved. I still think it's great for sculpting a brow with a lot of detail. I prefer the Goof Proof to the Ka-Brow personally because it's easier to work with and easier to blend, but if you really want a pomade/gel/cream brow color I would still recommend this one.

So as of late, I've loved and I mean LOVED the Jouer Long Wear Lip Cremes. I've been using these for around 2 weeks and I started off with two, then got two more, and then two more. Basically, because simply put they are amazing. From finish, to smell, how they feel and how they wear, they are my new favorite liquid lipsticks of all time. I choose these over ABH, Dose of Colors, Colour Pop, all of them. I feel like they're kind of a hidden gem as well. I hear some chatter about Jouer Cosmetics but not much and not usually about these. I buy mine from Frends Beauty. They are also available on the Jouer website of course, Dermstore (which has a coupon code right now "July4" for 20% off but I'm not positive it'll work on these. Worth a shot anyway), and Nordstrom They are $18, so they're not exactly wallet friendly. However, with Frends Beauty you can sign up for a free membership and get 10% off all your purchases. So while that may not seem like a lot, at least it's something. There are 14 shades in the permanent Lip Creme line I believe, and 4 shades in the limited edition Mermaid line. I have 2 from the Mermaid line and then I have 4 from the permanent line. I'm sure I will eventually own them all because I love them that much. These are the swatches from top to bottom: Unicorn - Mermaid line Daiquiri - Mermaid line Cerise - Lip Creme Melon - Lip Creme Peche - Lip Creme Framboise- Lip Creme Now both lines are liquid lipsticks in my opinion or at least the staying power of liquid lipsticks considering the formula and texture is not liquid. They dry down completely and don't budge. You need to remove these with an oil or oil based remover. I just use an oil to take mine off. This picture was taken right after I swatched them so you could see them wet, The picture below is when they had dried to show if they changed color once dry. Same swatches...only now they're completely dry. So here's what I've noticed. I don't feel like online swatches, like on company websites and what not, give you an accurate idea of the color. I do feel like these swatches on here are more true to color in real life. Except for Cerise. It looks so watermelon, bright and summery in pictures and on camera but I have a picture wearing it here, and you can see that it's basically a cool toned bright red. Which I guess could still be disputed as a watermelon shade but it was just red to me. It's still gorgeous but it was not at all what I expected when I got it.
Next is these literally look like velvet on the lips. All of mine have been super pigmented, not patchy in the slightest and look so smooth and soft texture, wise on the lips. So they don't look like dried up lips. They feel really good as well. Also, they smell like cupcakes. Literally cupcakes with frosting. So if you aren't into that smell or if you don't like heavy fragrance in lip products bear that in mind. They wear really really well. Pretty much like all liquid lipsticks do I guess except for super mousse-y formulas, I find those tend to wear off faster than thinner formulas. Lastly, from the Mermaid line there are two matte finishes and two metallic finishes so I got one of each. I notice with the metallic finish that it does transfer even when completely dried down. Maybe all metallics are like that but I'm not sure. Honestly, I do not like the metallic finish. In general I don't usually go for that, but I definitely don't like a bright or pale metallic finish period or at least I've not found one yet that I like. I do like darker shades in metallic finishes occasionally. Formula wise it was the same as the rest but I just don't like the color or finish. That's just personal preference though I think. Also the Mermaid line is limited edition as a summer launch I'm assuming, and it's very bright colors.....naturally. These are about as tall as a YSL lipstick. So they aren't the slender longer tubes of liquid lipstick like most of the ones you see. Actually, Dose of Colors packaging is taller than these. They are .21oz which is about the same amount in the KVD liquid lipsticks and double the amount of product in ABH liquid lipsticks. So don't let their small packaging fool you, you're still getting a good amount of product. Plus, they are a couple dollars cheaper than those. So that's my thoughts on these. I hope I gave you a hefty amount of information. Like I said these aren't really talked about as much as I feel they should be. Definitely not getting the recognition they deserve in my opinion. I hope this was helpful in some way and have a happy and safe 4th of July! There are just some products out there that become yours. Your babies, your adoptive pets, your attachments and if they had a heart they would be your best friend. So I thought I would give a list of some that I can't live without. An updated version because I believe I've done this list before.
So not gonna take up too much time, let's get into this: Makeup Wipes - I like Wet n Wild Under the Sheets ($25 wipes for about $3) I also love the Clinique Take Off The Day wipes (50 wipes for about $15) Eye Cream Kielhs - I use the Midnight Recovery and the Line Reducing Eye Brightening Concentrate (both work well for dark circles) Algenist Color Correcting Finishing Powder - I swear by this powder. It's my baby. It's a must have for me. I set my under eye with this and it makes the skin look amazing. Concealer - Urban Decay Naked Weightless Skin concealer or Bare Minerals Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer Dark Circle corrector - I prefer Becca Under Eye brightener or NYX Dark Circle Corrector Morphe elite brushes- I love these brushes and I believe right now what's left of them are 40% off because they are re-doing the line. Makeup Geek shadows - Obivously I love these Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base - Some use this as a primer but I use it as mositurizer. It smells wonderful. Loreal Voluminous - Best mascara of all time. Nars Sheer Glow - I don't use this every single day but I always have it for when nothing else is working for me or I just don't want to think about it. ABH Brow Definer - This makes doing brows so much easier and cuts the time in half. Colour Pop Naked Ladies - My FAVORITE bright lip shade Does of Colors Stone - My FAVORITE neutral lip shade. Violet Voss Lashes - my specific faves are Vamptress, Striptease, and Wisp It Real Good. Mario Badescue Rose Water - this is so soothing. It has Aloe in it which makes the skin feel great. I also wet my brush with it to apply loose pigments. Foreo Luna - This thing up'd my skincare game like no other. I love it. Becca Songbird - My favorite blush, especially when I'm tan. Real Technique Sponge - I honestly think it's better than the Beauty Blender. It's also great for applying powder to bake the face KVD Shade + Light Contour Palette - This is my favorite contour kit out. There are others that are really good but this is amazing. Sleek Solstice Highlight Palette - Glow seen from space |
