So this week I got some Colour Pop products. I got some of the new Raye Boyce collaboration, one of the new Holiday lip colors, a new-ish gel liner, and 3 newer shadow shades. These are the three shadows I got. Glitterati I was most skeptical about but it's become my favorite. I think it's very similar to Kat Von D Thunderstruck actually just with glitter. It's a silver shade with plenty of sprakle. It's metallic finish and those are some of my favorite finishes in the entire line, those and the pressed pigments. Leopard is this INTENSE royal purple. It's matte and full blown purple. It's gorgeous. Drift is your typical cranberry color that's perfect for the holidays. It's a pearlized finish so it's got a sheen to it more than a shimmer. I actually thought it would be a much deeper red/burgundy but it's not it's a medium toned burgundy. I love cranberry shades they are so overlooked and they shouldn't be because they're gorgeous on everyone. This is Rayezor, the collaboration with Raye Boyce. It's SO my style. It's just a perfect greyish mauve which I love. If you like Brink, I think you would like this. It reminds me of Underground from Gerard Cosmetics only better. It's just so pretty and very "everyday" in my opinion. I only have the lippie pencil as you know I prefer them to lipsticks. She also created a very beautiful liquid lipstick called Stingraye that I wish I would've gotten. It's a dead on dupe for Jefree Star Androgyny and ABH Veronica. Such popular colors but this one is $6. This is one of the new holiday colors. It's called Scrooge. Which I though was so cute. It's a very pretty medium berry. It's almost pink but a little too dark to be pink so it qualifies as berry but it's not deep at all. So if you don't like plums or anything dark but you want something that's not incredibly bright, you may really like this shade. Also just $6. This is the gel liner in Swerve. I just got black because I needed a black gel liner and also I hadn't heard the best reviews on this so I felt black was a safer route. I absolutely love this gel liner. It's very creamy in the pot and goes on very smooth and easy. It dries matte and doesn't budge. I'm not sure if that's why people didn't like them because they dry kinda fast and you couldn't really work with them after that, but I find that if you mess up gel liner anyway you're kinda screwed whether it dries fast or not. I mean if you mess it up and try fixing it it's gonna smudge so at least this really doesn't smudge. I haven't had any issues with it though. It goes on smooth and gives me plenty of time to draw my wing plus it's very easy to take off. A makeup wipe takes mine off. My Makeup Geek liner requires lots of rubbing and eye makeup remover. This was also $6. So in this looks I'm wearing:
Rayezor on the lips Swerve gel liner Leopard and Glitterati (center of the lid) on the eye. Glitterati is so beautiful, it looks silver but it has a golden duo chrome to it and it's so pretty.

So this lovely piece of makeup history, is the Lip Land Cosmetics collaboration with Samantha Ravndahl from Batalash Beauty. It's a satin nude lipstick called Creme Corsett. They recently done a collaboration with Amrezy as well which was 3 liquid lipsticks I think. I feel like this was affordable, it was $14.99 with free shipping AND it also ships the same day. So to me that's really good. I mean a MAC lipstick in the store is $16 so I feel like this is very reasonable. Especially since it's seriously so nice. So this is what it looks like. It's very cute square packaging with a classic shape to the lipstick itself. This is a little bit bulkier than my other lipsticks but I don't mind that, it just stands out a little bit more. It's plastic matte black packaging and pretty light weight. Here is the swatch by itself. Now, this is JUST MY OPINION, I feel like on my skin it has kind of a brown neutral undertone. I've seen other people where it looks more pink. On me it just happens to pull more brown. I really like that. I actually prefer that. That doesn't mean it's going to look the same on you. That being said it is a great nude shade. It seriously is almost the color of my bare lips. So these are the only lipsticks I had that I felt were the most similar or that you might would want it swatched next to for comparison. I only swatched lipsticks not anything else because at the end of the day this is a lipstick and it performs as one, it's not going to be like liquid lipsticks or gloss. I feel it's most similar to Urban Decay Naked lipstick but more pigmented. Naked is very pretty it's just a little more sheer. Buttercup from Gerard Cosmetics is more pink and more drying. It's also more matte where this is satin. MAC Creme D Nude is just here for comparison because it's such a cult favorite. As you can see it's much lighter in tone, it's more flesh nude. Creme Corsett is more of the "nude lip". So many people think a nude lip means flesh toned lip. That's cool if that's what you like but also a nude lip can mean "your natural lip color but better", which is what I think this is. So here it is on my lips. I have nothing on underneath. My liner is NYX Nude Pink lip liner. This is a different day from the one below. I wanted to show it just on the lips so you get the true tone of the color, without seeing an eye look with it and possibly get distracted. This is so creamy. It smells a lot like MAC lipsticks and to me its formula kinda acts like a thicker YSL formula. YSL seems a little thinner. For a lipstick it also lasts a pretty good while I wore it yesterday and today I used a lip primer which dried out my lips slightly but not terribly bad. Here is today's look. My lips were kinda stained pink from a tinted oil I'd used so I put my foundation over my lips some to blur that out. Then I used Creme Corsett over top with no lip liner or anything. So this makes it much more nude this way.
So my final thought is that if all their lipsticks are as good as this collaboration then I need to invest in more. I'm very impressed and I really think this is a fantastic nude shade. This had sold out, I don't know if they're back in stock yet or not. They do have a coupon code which is "lip20" for 20% off MOST of their products, not all of them and I'm not sure if it works on this one. It does not work on the Amrezy collection I know that. So if you try this, I hope you like it as much as I do. I got a package from Ofra Cosmetics the other day and I must say I am so impressed. I got the Kathleen Lights collaboration, Miami Fever Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks. I also got the DupeThat Collaboration which is one of the two highlighters in You Dew You. This is the highlighter. It's a bit darker than I thought it would be in the pan. It is gorgeous though. It's like a golden peach highlight. It's kinda comparable to Champagne Pop but it has more color if that makes since. The shimmer on Champagne Pop is so bright and intense you don't actually see the color all that much. This though has a beautiful sheen but it's a really pretty golden/peach glow and you can see that on the skin and I really love that. It gives just a touch of color along with highlight. Not to mention the formula is so soft. Its so creamy. I'm thoroughly impressed. It gives most of, if not all, my highlighters a run for their money. I believe it's $25. There's also another shade that looks a bit more silver-ish to me but none the less gorgeous. This is the highly talked about collab with Kathleen Lights called Miami Fever. This formula feels amazing. It smells like the discontinued awesome Sephora Collection Lip Creams before they re done them. It has that "mousse like" feel to it. It's not drying, it's very comfortable and the shade is so unique. It's like a burnt orangey brown. It's perfect for fall. This doesn't crumble on the lips or anything. Basically it's amazing, there ya have it. There was a coupon code "Kathleen40" for 40% off your order. I don't know if it still will work but definitely worth trying. The liquid lipsticks are around $20. I want every single color now that they offer. I can't wait to try more of Ofra Cosmetics, I really feel like they're a force to be reckoned with in the makeup community.
In this I'm going to tell you what I do to fake fuller lips. This isn't something I do all the time but, when I feel like it, I think it does help. First I exfoliate the lips. I use a lip scrub from Becca and Mars that I got on Etsy. It's a sugar lip scrub and it's edible so you just lick it off pretty much. It's also very moisturizing which I love. Then I use my Dior Lip Maximizer which is supposed to help plump the lips. I leave it on while I contour the lips. I take a contour powder or a shadow whatever you want to use and a small dense brush and I put it above the sides of the upper lip and below the sides of the lower lip. I blend it over under the center of the bottom lip too. This just creates a shadow so that the lips look like they're more full. If there is a lot of gloss still left on the lips I'll blot them some but usually there isn't by the time I get ready to line them. I don't over draw them lately. You certainly can but I haven't really. I keep the line on the outer part of the natural line though so it's still my shape but just slightly fuller. I'm using Soar from MAC in this. Next I apply my lip color which is Lovely from ABH. It's a nice mauve shade. I use a lip brush so that It's a bit sharper and easier to control the product and where I want it to go without being too messy and too much product. Then I apply a gloss. Gloss always makes your lips look fuller because the light reflects off the shine of the gloss. I used Metallic Rose from ABH. It has flecks of glitter in it so it catches the light more than an opaque gloss. The gloss is a close shade to the lip color. You could also use a clear gloss or any gloss really. Next I use a highlighter on the cupids bow. I'm using ABH Sand highlighter but you can use any shade. You can also use a white liner to highlight as well. I just apply it with my finger. This really defines the cupid's bow and makes it more prominent.
And that's that. That's pretty much all I do. I don't add a light shade on the actual lip like some people do because the gloss would cover that up. If you were using a more sheer gloss yo.u could apply it over the lip color. For that I like using the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. Concealer would work just as well. I recently got some of the Anastasia lip glosses. I know, I know, I'm late to the boat. I usually am not the biggest fan of lip gloss but right now I am. These are amazing, they smell like cup cakes. I will say that I like the more opaque ones as opposed to the lustrous ones. There is an awesome set available right now at Macy's you get 8 for $40. That's $5 a piece for full sized lip glosses that are usually $16. So check that out.
My favorites are:
Venom and Black Cherry are both very similar. Gilded is a really neat metallic gold. Metallic Rose and Sunset Strip are both very glittery and sheer. They would be your ideal gloss to go over a lipstick. As with everything Anastasia, these are very nice and I really like them. The formula is creamy, not thin and runny, but also not thick and clumpy so it's perfect basically. Vintage and Venom are not in the Macy's set, just FYI. So this was short and sweet wasn't it? It's just simple they're really great. In the world of liquid lipsticks there are many brands that catch your eye. However, there is a brand that you should know about but probably don't. Makeup Revolution. Specifically their Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers. They have a nice range of colors and they are sold at Ulta for $5.99. I got two shades to test them out but I will get more. The two shades I got was Depravity which is a bright purple shade and Vamp which is a dark blackened maroon. This shade is Depravity above. It's very opaque, which is good considering it's a bright color you definitely need solid pigmentation. The formula of these are not super thin like LA Splash Lip Coutures and LA Girl Matte flat finish pigment gloss, they're a bit thicker than Color Pop liquid lipsticks but not entirely mousse like. So I would compare them to the LA Splash Smitten Lip Tints formula wise. They are just like all Liquid Lipstick they are opaque they are a bit drying but that's the same as plenty of other formulas out there. What you have to remember is to really moisturize the lip before application and it won't feel as dry to you. Sometimes I even apply a gloss and let that sit on the lips while I do my makeup and then apply a liquid lipstick. It may not wear as long as it would on its own but it will feel better and not crumble on the lips when you eat or drink. So this formula to me is a good formula. The shade above is Vamp. This is a really good dupe for LA Splash Vampire and also Sephora Collection discontinued cream lip stain in 7 that Samantha from Batalash loved. I have it and still wear it but this is a close hue to it I think. I think the name suits it perfect, it's a great dark lip if you want to be more "vampy" than say a true burgundy or dark red. It can look a little bit like black the more you apply. I don't have an issue with that, I can get down with black lips anyway but if you're a bit more cautious then I might would pick a different shade. They have plenty of beautiful colors, from neutrals, to brights, to dark shades. So there is something for everyone.
If you spend $10 at Ulta there is always a $3.50 off coupon unless you're buying "prestige cosmetics" so check that out if you're interested. Yea I know it's not technically fall, but in my world Sept 1st means it's fall. So when you think of fall you think of plums, warm browns, berry lips, golden tones, etc etc. While I love ALL those colors, I wanted to give you some ideas for fall that are still very much fall but not so typical.
There is all kinds of beauty out there. Some people like simple, and naturally enhanced beauty. Some people like a little more, and some people like the whole 9 yards lashes, bright lips, color, winged liner, everything. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. It all depends on how you feel, whatever makes you feel good is what you should do. AND FORGET THE REST. Forget what people say, don't take their input if you don't want it. You do exactly what makes you feel beautiful and the rest of the world will stop and stare. So these looks can be work, school, or whatever appropriate. First up, is for my natural babes. I'm wearing lashes but you don't have to. The keys to natural makeup, or natural looking makeup is:
So starting with the first point, playing up your features, focus on that. If you have great lips, make that your focus. Wear bright lipstick, or just lipstick in general. Super shiny gloss and a highlighted cupids bow also emphasize lips. If you have great skin, find a blush that gives you a glow. Subtle colors of peach and pink with soft sheens to them are great choices. Highlight the skin with eyshadow or powder highlighter. Highlighter brings light to the face which catches the eye. Speaking of eyes, if you have a great shape or beautiful colored eyes find a shade that compliments it. For eye shapes focus on your crease to contour the eye socket more. Another great tip that's fast and easy is cream shadow. Just make sure to wear eye primer. Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks are wonderful and so are Maybelline Color Tattoo. This will give you a solid metallic color across the entire lid. Blend it will your finger or a brush and it's a simple fix. If you've got great lashes, pile on the mascara. Wear a ton, wipe off 80% of the product on the brush and just build from there. Looks that I feel best in, like really really sexy, is when I'm wearing lashes and gloss like the picture above on the left. Its simple, looks natural, and it's not hard. Skin care is your foundation. Find something that works for you. If you're oily, get products to help combat that and invest in primer. If you have texture issues make sure your exfoliating and choose a smoothing primer. If you're dry make sure you are moisturizing with the heaviest hydrating moisturizers and products you can use. Including sprays like Fix Plus from MAC to keep those dry patches at bay. For problem skin, do whatever your dermatologist suggests first but I really like the Murad Acne Line if you want to try something. Invest in good concealers and foundations that cover. The Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo is breathable but really nice. Revlon Colorstay is also good with coverage. Cream concealers will hide blemishes better that liquid concealers. As for brows, they frame your face. Just drill that in your head. If you don't want to do anything else at least make sure your brows are shaped, meaning tweezed or something so they have a shape and don't have sparse hairs every which way, and if they're very sparse try filling them in to "sculpt" them slightly. This can be as light or heavy as you want. So Benefit Gimme Brow is a really great low maintenance tool. It fills in and builds up the brow with fibers. While also taming the the brow and keeping it in place. Brow powder or even eye shadow applied with a slanted brush will fill in and define a brow just fine. Neutral tones like taupes and cool toned browns work better on most unless you're red headed or very warm brown. If you want a natural, minimal, look I wouldn't go past powder. I wouldn't mess with pomades and brow pens I would stick to powder and brow gel. This is some intermediate looks. They require a little more work. Or at the very least have more color. So this is where I would start using lip color. Like mauves, burgundys, berry colors something that is neutral but that you can see. The eyes are definitely smokier with not your normal browns. More berry, purples, and inner corner shimmer and such. Notice the lower lash lines are really smoked out. I choose eyeshadow over liner any day on the lower lash line because crayon liners melt so easy. Powder stays better. These blown out smokey eyes require more time because your have to layer colors to give them more depth so you have to spend a lot of time blending. So just keep that in mind. Start with a lighter shade on a bigger brush and then work your way into darker colors applied with smaller brushes and blended out with that bigger brush again. Blending is key and it does take practice. You don't have to wear lashes for this either, but I always do. You can sculpt the brow a little more if you want with these looks too. Venturing into brow pens, pencils, and pomades. Not entirely necessary though. These looks are more advanced. So winged liner, brighter and darker lips. Colorful shadow. Lashes of course. Dramatic, sharp lined shadow. Just a lot of different options. I love color as you know and I feel like there is always a way to wear it without looking like a clown. It's all about blending. For lip color, start with a neutral toned eye look and a colored lip. That way you don't have so much to focus on or like you're trying to hard. Even in the bottom right picture I have a colorful eye and a pink lip. It goes well together because it's a more muted pink and the colors on the eye stay on the lid and lower lash line they aren't super dramatic or too high in the crease.
The brows are more sculpted and not on the natural side. There's a lot of highlighting going on too, cupids bow, inner corner of the eye, heavy highlight on the cheek, and so on. Winged liner that is both very dramatic and in the bottom right it's a very small wing. As for eye shadow, some colors are actually really easy and complimentary like, earthy greens, plums, cranberry, navy, and even baby pink and soft corals. You can pair those with neutral eye shadows like browns and peaches and have an awesome "pop of color " which makes it the focus. If you want to do a colorful eye then start with a more nude lip and then go from there. So that's my tips. Practice, practice, practice. Remember what ever you feel comfortable with is what you should do. As long as you feel beautiful, that's all that matters. Promise. ***this above picture is the full size product photo from Sephora. Recently, I got the new Makeup Forever Artist Plexi Gloss in shade 202 (unfortunately out of stock right now). It came in the Give Me Some Lip set from Sephora. Which if you haven't looked at it, it's a very nice set. I actually don't have a lot of glosses. I've never really liked them actually they get in my nerves when they're super sticky or too minty. This however, I want every shade they have. This is $19. This specific color is gorgeous. Is a peachy pink. It's not sticky but has a lot of shine to it. It's not super thick either to wear it gets goopey. It's not thin to wear it will run all over the place either. It's just a solid gloss. I'm going to get the clear one next because I really feel like a clear gloss is all you need for gloss. This is absolutely fantastic though. The applicator is a strange applicator it's tear drop shaped with a cut in one side. I still can't figure out that purpose but it's still nice and cool. They come in 35 colors from sheer, to opaque, and a clear one. I'm a huge fan, I think gloss is coming back in a big way. As opposed to the matte look so I suggest giving these a try. These are the swatches from the Give Me Some Lip set. MUFE 202 is the last one on the right. I'm wearing 202 over Tarte Coral Blossom that I applied very very sheer and then added the gloss over top.
Sephora has come out with the new "Give Me Some Lip" set this year. Last years is also still available. I got it and really liked it especially cause they're affordable ($25). This years I can tell you is a lot better. You get a really nice mix of lipstick, liquid lipstick, tinted balm, and gloss. I'm really impressed and the packaging..............so cute. I will be keeping it on my vanity just cause it's so dang cute. So you get: Kat Von D Lolita (very popular) Fresh Sugar Rose tinted lip balm Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème in Je T'Aime Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom Makeup Forever Artist Plexi Gloss 202 Sephora Rouge Infusion The Neutrals in 19 Peony Swatches from left to right are: Sephora, Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs, Tarte, Fresh Sugar Rose, MUFE gloss
The Sephora Rouge Infusion is really pretty. I've always been a fan of Sephora liquid lipsticks though. They have good formula and they've never disappointed me. This particular line is more sheer. It's not the pigment of a liquid lipstick which can be like a mask. Its long wearing but it's actually not as pigmented as it swatches. It's a little more sheer like I said. Kat Von D Lolita is a cult favorite right now. It's quite brown. I'm so excited to finally have it. This is just a deluxe size but honestly that will last a long time. You'd be surprised just how far lipsticks and mascaras go before they run out or need to be thrown away. Usually they end up going bad before you can use it all. I always recommend getting a deluxe sample if you can at all of mascara. At least you'll get more use out of it. I have some "dupes" of this color but I must say that this formula is very nice. It's a perfect fall shade. Marc Jacobs is a really pretty rose shade.I wouldn't say it was neutral, it's on the more bright side but still wearable. It's very pigmented. It's a good fall transition shade I think. To transition you from summer into fall. It's very creamy and shiny. They're just all around good lipsticks. The Tarte lipstick is a full sized lipstick. Which is awesome. The packaging is adorable. It's very shiny and moisturizing. The coral color is bright and very fun for summer. I already have another color in this. They're a little sheer due to how moisturizing they are I think, but they're still very pretty. Not long wearing though. So take it with you if you're wearing it out. Fresh Sugar Rose is actually not my favorite. It's great if you need a subtle tint but I don't like that. Their balms tend to be too waxy for my liking. I have the regular version and I already had this one. It's still good, it's just not something I'm into. Makeup Forever Plexi gloss is really nice. The applicator is very cool. It's a gorgeous color. I'm actually interested in every gloss in this whole line now. I feel like gloss is really making a comeback. Matte lips where so popular for such a long time but I think gloss is really gonna be popular again soon. The have a clear version in the line and I'd like to get it as well. This color though is truly pretty. It has no shimmer, it's a peachy pink, it's the prettiest gloss I own to be honest. I give this set a huge thumbs up from price, to packaging, to product it's just a steal I think. If you want to try out some new things I recommend this all the way. |
