Today, although still April, it felt like summer. Which caused me to do my favorite summer look. I got to use a new product in this that I'm really excited to talk about in a future post.
Eyes: It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette: Sunset, Sunrise, Java, and Noir Revlon Eye Art in Peach Prism Loreal Carbon Black Voluminous Mascara with Kiss Lashes that are just short banded and only in the center. Really cool if you're not used to lashes and wanted to try some out. The cool part of this was that the Revlon Eye Art is one side liquid/cream shadow that's metallic and foiled looking and the other side is liquid glitter. I only used the shadow part. I put this on under and over my eye shadow for that super foiled look but the part that I LOVED was that I could put it on my lower lash line and it looked awesome because it's applied with a wand and it stayed so shiny and foiled. I just can't even explain how cool it looks on the lower lash line. Face: MUFE Step 1 Equalizer Mattifying Primer Loreal Lumi Foundation Tarte Sculptor #1 MAC Careblend Pressed Powder in Dark with a big fluffy brush to look extra sunkissed NARS Dual Intensity in Fervor applied with a dense blush brush sprayed with Fix + Lips: Stila Bellissima liquid lipstick Smashbox Pout lipgloss

Today's makeup is super easy and quick. I've been getting organized for prom all day today so therefore the makeup was quick and to the point. Also monochromatic apparently. This is a great spring look though and it's very fresh looking I think. Perfect for summer nights, or for teens just trying makeup just substitute the lashes for mascara.
Face: Loreal Lumi Foundation The Balm Mary Louminizer Becca Songbird blush ABH Contour kit powder Eyes: Colour Pop: EX crease and lid with Too Soon over it on the lid. This is from their Rebound Collection which is still available. Lena Lashes in Elle ABH Dip Brow Lips: Stila Liquid Lipstick in Bellisima Today's makeup actually turned into a opalescent type look which I really loved. Again you'll see my love affair with Sugar Pill Lumi pigment in this. Cause I freaking love it people. Eyes: MUG: Corrupt, Pixie Dust, Shark Bait ABH: Violet, Blanc, and Dusty Rose Colour Pop: Dare in the center Sugar Pill: Lumi all over lid *from outer lid to inner lid it's Corrupt, Violet and Blanc then on top of that its Dare and then Pixie Dust then Mary Louminizer with Lumi over top the lid. *lower lashline is pixie dust and shark bait over it which makes a really nice grass green color. If you want to add a little more darkness in the corner you can, I did, but you don't have to. Lumi is also on the lower lash line. ABH Dip brow Luxy Lashes: Hollyhood Face: I tried a new routine to see what holds up the best as far as oil control and just general wear. Even though I'm not incredibly oily. Primer: dr Jart pore minishing primer then Benefit 15 hour primer over top Lioele BB cream used lightly Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation RCMA VK 11 palette to contour NYX HD Concealer in Yellow Colour Pop on Rain The Balm Mary Louminizer ABH Contour kit to set contour and set full face MAC Fix + which I do not recommend if you were oily but I used it because I was looking cakey and really having some texture issues. Lips: Gerard Cosmetics Buttercup over concealer on the lips to make it more pale. *also I used toofaced glitter glue first and then put shadow insurance over it to really lock in the shadow because just the primer was not working. Because I done it this want though I put Blanc all over the eye area to make blending easier. And even then it took a little extra time to blend but I was trying it to see how it held up with creasing for extremely oily lids. Which I actually do have. This actually did seem to help. So all in all this did hold up well. It's not something to do if you're dry so keep that in mind but it does help if you're oily. This look is super super bright even for me. I also look quite pale in this too. None the less I didn't want it to go to waste so I felt I should share it anyway. This is basically entirely Colour Pop as far as the color goes. Which was another reason for posting it. Eyes: Colour Pop: Ibiza, Animal, And Ex Luxy Lashes in Woke Up Like This ABH Dip Brow Face: Lioele BB Cream NARS All Day Foundation Colour Pop blush in Clutch Tarte Sculptor ABH Contour Kit Lips: Colour Pop: Tipsy and Cake Ever have those day's when you really love your makeup? That's been happening to me a lot recently with my foundation and actual face makeup. I always usually like my eye makeup. Today though I loved everything from the pop of green to the contour. The first two pictures were taken right as soon as I finished my makeup. The last two were taken probably two to three hours later and in a different lighting and room. My eyes look a lot lighter when I stand in the window with the light straight on me which I always think looks so cool although that's not how they look all the time which is a bummer. Today I came home to find that my lovely mail man had left a Bauble Bar package for me. So I open it up to find a layered necklace annnndddd a new lipstick from Maybelline's new Rebel Bloom collection. The color I got was Lilac Flush. It's a beautiful Lavender shade. I will say that Brills lip liner from Colour Pop is a good lip liner to use with it. If you like lip liner that is. Some people don't and that's totally fine. I didn't know this was even coming so what a nice surprise!! I think the necklace is still a buried bauble right now as well. Eyes: MUG: Pixie Dust, Mermaid, Shark Bait, Envy, and Chickadee Sugarpill: Lumi pigment Lena Lashes style Bianca Stila Precision Brow Pencil in Medium Brown ABH Dip Brow pomade over top Face: NARs All Day Luminous foundation RCMA VK 11 palette to contour. Becca Songbird blush Stila shimmer duo in Kitten ABH power contour kit Lips: Maybelline lipstick in Lilac Flush I love when spring rolls around just because of all the bright and fun colors that come with it. So I thought I'd compile a list of my favorite/go-to shades that I think are easy to help transition into the new season with. I feel like in the summer we see more sheer and intense colors. Spring is great for bright and matte shades. I only went with two brands and it wasn't on purpose it was just honestly what I gravitate toward.
First up in Colour Pop. Next week I'm going to do a Colour Pop collection because I have a few more on the way and I have quite a few of their pencils anyway. I only have their pencils and not "lippie stix". I'll tell you why. I prefer matte lipsticks and lip liners are always matte. I use lip pencils as full lip color all the time. Lip liners are designed to sculpt and act as a base thus making your lipstick last longer and helping the lipstick not "bleed". So the reason I love colour pop lip pencils is because they're the matte version of whatever color you like. Every lipstick of theirs has a matching lip liner. Also, after you sharpen them they get creamier and are so similar to a matte lipstick. MAC lip liners are super pointed and much thinner. Colour pop is a little thicker and more rounded. I chose the colors: Rocket, Punky, Wifey and Brills because it was the four most basic shades of spring. Coral, Warm Bright Pink, Cool Bright Pink, and Lavender. Now remember I choose the lip pencils because they're the matte version of the lipstick. Brills lipstick is actually metallic finish I think but the lip liner is not. Rocket is a medium peachy pink. Sometimes saying "coral" implies that its a dark orange ton and this isn't. It's noticeable and bright but still wearable. As your skin gets more tan in the summer it just makes this color pop more. Punky is a pretty bright pink. It's not like the Maybelline Vivid's line where it was electric, in your face, colors. It's wearable and still has that spring look to it. Wifey is the brightest and most vivid of all of them. It's very cool toned pink and very bright. It can easily be toned down with a gloss ironically enough, seeing as how gloss intensifies things sometimes. Brills is the perfect lavender that comes with spring. It's not super pale to where you don't notice it and it's not a color that people will reach for the most but I love it to change things up. Next is three liquid lipsticks from Anastasia Beverly Hills: Sweet Talker (top), Retro Coral (bottom left) and Lovely (bottom right). Sweet Talker is another brighter pink. It's a warm pink but it's also a more muted pink than Punky from Colour Pop. Which to me is more wearable. It's definitely bright don't get me wrong, but it's muted in the fact that is a little darker and not so in your face. It's easier to wear this one with more eye looks I think. It's one that the more tan you get the more muted it's going to get. Unlike the next one which is Retro Coral. This although retro, meaning that its a paler more sherbet colored coral instead of a neon electric 80's coral. This definitely gets brighter and stands out the deeper your tan gets which is what I really like about it. I feel like you can mix this with different colors too to add a peachy tint to it because it doesn't over power other colors. Like I mix it with the next color Lovely and Lovely is still the main color. Lovely is the most neutral shade I picked. This color can be worn year around, yes, but it's great for the very beginning of spring because this is more rosy pink than a bright pink or mauve. Mauve is a fantastic color for fall and winter because of the brown and purple tones that's usually in it. Lovely is all pink. It's an everyday color and I love using it as a substitute for like that classic Kim Kardashian fleshy nude. It can be paired with every eye look out there. I personally would choose Lovely over the coveted Pure Hollywood which is more of a nude. I choose Lovely just because it's having an actual color on the lips and color always defines and sculpts the lips while nude colors make them look bigger and can complete the look without making the lips the center of attention. If you don't want to spend the money on ABH lipsticks then I strongly recommend that you check out LA Splash. Their products seem to be a little brighter and very intense for Spring which is why I didn't include them. They do have a few colors that aren't so insanely bright like Charmed and Latte Confession but most of their products are really intense. Also I prefer the Smitten Liptints over their Lip Coutures but that's just me. The liptints go on more evenly than the coutures I think and the couture colors seem to crumble if you apply too many layers. I do absolutely love the shades though and especially for Summer because they are much more wearable then in my opinion. Although if you want to wear them anytime you know I support that because I certainly do. lol Colour Pop lipsticks and pencils are $5 ABH liquid lipsticks are $20 and if you have a pro discount with them you can use it on these. I call this party makeup because it looks like a party on my eyelid. I rarely ever go to parties though. lol.

I guess that is neutral for me though, color. Haha.

The technique I talked about in the last post) Lips: Colour Pop: Brills Smashbox Pout lipgloss Now, if you're only interested in the makeup then you may want to skip this part. I wanted to give you my thoughts on some things. I've been seeing a lot of negativity toward artists and people in general lately on social media. Some has happened to me personally but also I've seen some really rude comments toward peoples appearance that they can't change. I know that there isn't much I can do about it but I wanted to leave you with this thought tonight. How would you feel if you put yourself out there doing something that you love and then someone came in and tried to tear you down? I know it's old, but "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". I'm not saying I've not ever been guilty of saying something that wasn't nice because I certainly have. I do not, however, understand going out of your way to attack someone you don't know or anyone for that matter. Especially when someone is trying to put their work out there. I'm not talking about taking a stand on something you have a personal problem with. You can support someone or not support someone for your own reasons. There's no need to be nasty and catty though and absolutely no room to make fun of people. In a time where everyone is so against bullying, it amazes me just how many "bullies" have seemed to come out of the wood work. Also, if you're someone who feels the need to comment even though you have nothing to do with the situation, picture, or whatever be thoughtful on how you word things. I don't mind criticism but "making fun" and being disrespectful is something that I will not support or tolerate. We should try to uplift people, not cause them doubt and sadness. If I see something that isn't my style I don't trash someone, I try to look at it from an artists view because nine times out of ten its executed great. Even if it's not, we all have a starting point and we all get better each day. So encourage don't discourage. I've only had small issues, but the past two days I've seen some really horrible almost make you cry comments toward amazing people. And no I don't personally know all these people that were the victim of the harsh insults, but that makes no difference to me. We were all created equal and there is nothing that gives us the right to be downright awful to someone else for how they look or how their work is just because you don't like it. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. So lets keep the air negative free and enjoy this life that we were blessed with. Do not judge, because you don't know the road someone else walks. Hugs, Erin So this is actually today's look and I wanted to talk about it because there is several things in this that I'm loving. The first being these lashes, they're super dramatic in real life but they are so nice in pictures. They're Koko Lashes in Foxy. I got these off of Violet Voss, They are inexpensive and incredible. I've used them before I know but each time I use them and take my pictures I just fall more in love.
Second, I did a new contour technique today as far as where I placed it on my face and I really really love it. I believe it's the perfect way to contour for my face and preferences. Which obviously everyone is different but I'm just so happy that I found a way that I love from the beginning without having to tweak it a million times and then just settle with it. I used the Cover FX Cream Contour Kit in N Medium, if you've read my review on it you'll know that it's not my favorite as far as color goes but I set it with ABH Fawn and it helps cancel out the warm tones. Also I paired it with Becca Songbird blush and it's a darker coral blush so it really helped pull the contour together as well. Last is I want to touch on the skin and how it looks because I tried a new tip that I seen in Wayne Goss latest video, "How To Look Flawless in Photos and Real Life" which was a "buffing" technique he learned from a Sonia and Fyza seminar. I won't try to explain how to do the technique you should really watch the video because I'm not comfortable with it yet. I'll hit the high notes for you though, when you're done with your makeup and you've set it as you would when you're completely finished with blush, contour, and everything, you then take a buffing brush and a powder and buff the powder into the skin. Now my biggest concern was that I didn't want to buff away the intensity of my blush. I wasn't worried about the contour or moving the foundation or concealer I just wanted my blush to be deep and intense. So I used a coastal scents buffing brush that was rounded although Im not sure if it matters the shape, and I used Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused Light. I didn't know how much to buff or how much product to use so I just was winging it. It did take the intensity of my blush down somewhat but even with me not really sure if I was doing this technique right it literally did transform my skin. Not really the makeup which I know it probably did but it looked like it transformed my skin. That was just with me looking in the mirror. When I took my photos for this makeup I was amazed at how smooth my skin looked and photoshoppped I looked with out doing any editing to the picture. You already know my thoughts on editing and that sometimes I do edit the texture issues off my skin, but I rarely ,if ever, put filters on my pictures and this, to me, looked like I did. There was one area in the corner of my eye that had some real dry areas that didn't look amazing but other than that this was a fantastic first try. So, go watch it if you're interested in techniques and tips to try. I love Goss so much he's taught me an unbelievable amount through the years and I absolutely love that he still goes to seminars and watches other makeup artists so that he can learn their techniques as well. I truly think that that's so outstanding because we all can learn from one another and I think sometimes people can get to where they think they know everything and that's a mistake. You limit yourself so much when you refuse to give others a second look or acknowledge their talent. There's always something that someone can teach you about anything and everything, not just makeup.
