Listen, I'm not a music festival type of person. I am a fall festival type of person where I can get funnel cakes and caramel apples. However, I know that many of you are. Everything from Coachella to Country Music Festivals. I'm from Tennessee and we have the CMA Fan Fest. So there are plenty of opportunities to go to one usually.
I thought it would be a good idea to make a guide more or less on what you should have with you when going to festivals or how you should prepare to go to one. They're pretty simple and I'm only speaking on beauty related things. So be aware of other things that you might need out in the sun and so on.
So first things first. I don't care what kind of special makeup you want to do, you need to take precautions in the sun. So wear sunglasses all the time. The bigger the better. I know that's going to cover up your carefully put together festivals jewels and what not during the day but we aren't here for the premature crows feet guys. Or sun damage for that matter. Wear a hat. I know that it's not ideal for the cute hair or space buns but it will protect your scalp, and should shield the face from the sun if it's big enough. Even if it's just a ball cap. Sunscreen. Every 80 minutes. Again I know this may disrupt your makeup when you re-apply but I would take that chance rather than having sun damage. I like for my base to have SPF in it as well. So in this case I would wear the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer. It has SPF in it. Also, so do the Dr. Jart+ BB creams. So that would be my base every time but I would still be reapplying sunscreen often. Take a facial mist man. Like I said you're going to get hot so not only would this cool you down it's also going to be soothing or keeping the skin from getting dehydrated with Hyaluronic Acid. For instance, Hylamide Hydra Mist is a good one. It's not going to make you extra oily it's going to hydrate the deeper layers of the skin. FAB Fresh Greens, will soothe irritated skin, burnt skin (although that shouldn't happen if you use your SPF). Elf has an Active Face Mist that you use at the gym to feel "freshened up" I think it would go well in this scenario. Use waterproof makeup if you plan on doing a look. So waterproof liner, brows, mascaras, a good primer, and concealer that is basically budge proof. I've already said that my base would be just a BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer. That way when you sweat hopefully you won't look literally like a "hot mess". Also, toss some blot papers in there to remove excess oil. Finally, use a lip balm with SPF in it as well. I wouldn't even bother with liquid lips or regular lipstick at a festival I would do a balm, lip oil, or gloss. So apply lip balm with SPF first and then use whatever you want on top of it.
