Hey guys... I don't know if you've been involved yet in the " #skincaresunday" movement amongst all of the bloggers it seems like lol, but it's my favorite thing to do so far. I think Sunday's, at least for me, have always been kinda like my "me time" or my "detox day". It's the day I'm by far the most relaxed, and it's just a lovely time. Of course there are those days, that just suck. You come home....maybe you met a rude person, maybe you fell over a lawn mower and busted your face on the cement basement floor like myself. Yes, you read that right....also, for those wondering, no major injuries lol. Anyway, I'm here to tell you how I chill out and what I do to de-stress and take care of myself.
Firstly, I'm a bath person. I love a good long bath. I enjoy bath bombs as you well know. I love to light all the candles and turn down the lights. Sometimes I even put on a movie, or read. I just love it. I am very particular over body products. I don't like to stray from what I know and what I like. However, I've managed to get to know and use some other products because of ingredients that they have that I love. Like Lavender in this situation, I love Lavender essential oil. I love it in a diffuser, in bath water, in my bath and body products. I believe I've had it in every form of product as far as I know
I recently tried it in Yardley Bath Bar Classic English Lavender. Super affordable, I mean you can find it in Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS, Publix, etc. (I'll leave a list below actually of more places). They have more scents than this one, my husband likes the Oatmeal and Almond and thy have a new one called Creamy Coconut. The reason I'm talking about Lavender is because with the rise in aromatherapy, you probably already know that Lavender is great for stress relief, relaxing, helping you sleep, and more. I'm all for that. I'm here for the relaxation, and I find it works best when you combine it with other relaxing things...such as baths. The warm water and whatever else you're doing to chill just try adding in or changing up your soap/body products to something that could help you "mentally detox" , as I like to call it, and see if it helps. As a matter of fact I have several methods to mentally detox. I'll give you a few right now and hopefully it helps. Nothing is more imperative to me than a healthy state of mind. I'm quite sick, so I have to stay on the optimistic side of things and sometimes I have to be very aware to stay positive. Which sounds odd but it's true I have to pump the breaks and pull myself out of a negative mind frame occasionally. So one thing I do is, I like to do monthly challenges to myself. I have a ton of notebooks. Every month I like to write out what I'd like to improve on and then reflect on the previous month to see if I did in fact uphold my intentions for that month, and most of the time they're very small. For instance, one month my intention was to work on saying "I love you" to people more. My neighbors kinda thought it was weird, lol. I also like to write down one good thing of each day right before I go to bed. My theory is, there's always something good in every day but some days you have to look a little harder. The reason I write it down before bed is because I want to go to sleep on a good thought. I had to train myself to have a more positive outlook and I can truly say that these little things I do, have gave me a better grasp on my "quality of life". My latest list in my notebook is one thing I love about myself every day. From physical features to the way I approach things. Just in general, it's stuff that I've come to appreciate about my own self and that may sound conceited but the reason it came about is because I was in a really bad funk over some sickness and how I looked, weight gain really played a part in it, it was a rough time. Then my logic set in and I decided I, myself, was going to write down something I liked about myself. I wasn't going to rely on other people to tell me things or reassure me, I needed to find it in myself. I'm still working on that list even now. The point to all this is, don't just give yourself one thing that "might" help you mentally detox, make a combination of things that are going to work for your benefit, to help you prepare for the upcoming events, week, or day even. It's like keeping yourself mentally fit in a sense. Also, before I let you go, I want to tell you that there is nothing wrong with having "me time" whether it's using your favorite products, taking a nice long bath, going for a walk, watching your favorite movie, etc. You can not put a price on having a healthy outlook on life. Here's the list I promised you for the Yardley Soaps: "Yardley bath bars are found nationwide at your favorite mass, drug and food stores like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Shop Rite, HEB, Publix, Wegmans and many more."
