My Favorite Spring Lipsticks

I love when spring rolls around just because of all the bright and fun colors that come with it. So I thought I'd compile a list of my favorite/go-to shades that I think are easy to help transition into the new season with. I feel like in the summer we see more sheer and intense colors. Spring is great for bright and matte shades. I only went with two brands and it wasn't on purpose it was just honestly what I gravitate toward.

First up in Colour Pop. Next week I'm going to do a Colour Pop collection because I have a few more on the way and I have quite a few of their pencils anyway. I only have their pencils and not "lippie stix". I'll tell you why. I prefer matte lipsticks and lip liners are always matte. I use lip pencils as full lip color all the time. Lip liners are designed to sculpt and act as a base thus making your lipstick last longer and helping the lipstick not "bleed". So the reason I love colour pop lip pencils is because they're the matte version of whatever color you like. Every lipstick of theirs has a matching lip liner. Also, after you sharpen them they get creamier and are so similar to a matte lipstick. MAC lip liners are super pointed and much thinner. Colour pop is a little thicker and more rounded.

I chose the colors: Rocket, Punky, Wifey and Brills because it was the four most basic shades of spring. Coral, Warm Bright Pink, Cool Bright Pink, and Lavender. Now remember I choose the lip pencils because they're the matte version of the lipstick. Brills lipstick is actually metallic finish I think but the lip liner is not. Rocket is a medium peachy pink. Sometimes saying "coral" implies that its a dark orange ton and this isn't. It's noticeable and bright but still wearable. As your skin gets more tan in the summer it just makes this color pop more. Punky is a pretty bright pink. It's not like the Maybelline Vivid's line where it was electric, in your face, colors. It's wearable and still has that spring look to it. Wifey is the brightest and most vivid of all of them. It's very cool toned pink and very bright. It can easily be toned down with a gloss ironically enough, seeing as how gloss intensifies things sometimes. Brills is the perfect lavender that comes with spring. It's not super pale to where you don't notice it and it's not a color that people will reach for the most but I love it to change things up.

Next is three liquid lipsticks from Anastasia Beverly Hills: Sweet Talker (top), Retro Coral (bottom left) and Lovely (bottom right). Sweet Talker is another brighter pink. It's a warm pink but it's also a more muted pink than Punky from Colour Pop. Which to me is more wearable. It's definitely bright don't get me wrong, but it's muted in the fact that is a little darker and not so in your face. It's easier to wear this one with more eye looks I think. It's one that the more tan you get the more muted it's going to get. Unlike the next one which is Retro Coral. This although retro, meaning that its a paler more sherbet colored coral instead of a neon electric 80's coral. This definitely gets brighter and stands out the deeper your tan gets which is what I really like about it. I feel like you can mix this with different colors too to add a peachy tint to it because it doesn't over power other colors. Like I mix it with the next color Lovely and Lovely is still the main color. Lovely is the most neutral shade I picked. This color can be worn year around, yes, but it's great for the very beginning of spring because this is more rosy pink than a bright pink or mauve. Mauve is a fantastic color for fall and winter because of the brown and purple tones that's usually in it. Lovely is all pink. It's an everyday color and I love using it as a substitute for like that classic Kim Kardashian fleshy nude. It can be paired with every eye look out there. I personally would choose Lovely over the coveted Pure Hollywood which is more of a nude. I choose Lovely just because it's having an actual color on the lips and color always defines and sculpts the lips while nude colors make them look bigger and can complete the look without making the lips the center of attention.

If you don't want to spend the money on ABH lipsticks then I strongly recommend that you check out LA Splash. Their products seem to be a little brighter and very intense for Spring which is why I didn't include them. They do have a few colors that aren't so insanely bright like Charmed and Latte Confession but most of their products are really intense. Also I prefer the Smitten Liptints over their Lip Coutures but that's just me. The liptints go on more evenly than the coutures I think and the couture colors seem to crumble if you apply too many layers. I do absolutely love the shades though and especially for Summer because they are much more wearable then in my opinion. Although if you want to wear them anytime you know I support that because I certainly do. lol

Colour Pop lipsticks and pencils are $5

ABH liquid lipsticks are $20 and if you have a pro discount with them you can use it on these.
