Embrace Your Brows with Rodan + FieldsGuys...I'm so excited to talk to you about a new product that I've been trying out since the beginning of June, give or take. Before we get started though I have to say a big thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own of course. Let's get into it. So, what we're discussing today is the Rodan + Fields Brow Defining Boost. Originally, I was unaware that it was a popular thing for people to use the Rodan + Fields Lash Boost on their brows as well as their lashes. That is, until my friend texted me about her brows and said she was going to use Lash Boost on her own brows to condition and help them appear fuller, after she had trimmed and tweezed them more than she intended. So, I was thrilled when they told me that they were actually releasing a product focused on brows specifically because of the feedback they'd gotten about customers using Lash Boost being on the brows. They had decided to come out with a tinted brow boost that has the same idea as their Lash Boost, but with pigment and cellulose fibers to help the overall shade of the brow. That way it's both helping to fill in sparse areas due to it being tinted and having cellulose fibers and then nourishing the brow hair as well as the Lash Boost does. You can use Lash Boost at night before you got to sleep, and then the Brow Defining Boost in the morning to get instant results from the tint. As for how it performs, it's quite buildable I've noticed as far as the pigment or depositing color to the area. It tends to hold the hairs in place pretty well, but I will be honest, my brow hairs don't really get too crazy. One thing I noticed for sure is that it will not budge! It. Will. Not. Budge. You can sweat, be in the rain, or just absent minded rubbing your face and it won't smudge. Granted I don't put a bunch of layers on my brows, maybe 2-3? However, it deposits a fair amount of color and it hasn't smudged at all on me. I found that it works better to have a makeup remover that specifically breaks down makeup. My preferred method is a balm concentrate or liquid oil. I think oil breaks this up best, but I believe you could use a good micellar water and cotton pad on it as well. There are 4 shades: Light (for light to dark blonde hair), Medium (for light to medium brown hair), Dark (for medium to dark brown hair), and Black (for dark brown to black hair). I've used both Medium and Dark. I found Medium a little too neutral-warm for me, but the Dark is perfect for my cool toned brown hair. For the swatches, I actually used an angle brush to show you the colors a little better and built them up. That led me to using a small and thin angled brush with this product as well when I want to sculpt the shape just a little bit more sometimes. Which is perfect because now I only need one product to use on my brows for filling in, sculpting, and setting them. I can go for a bare minimum look, a natural low-key look, or a full glam look. I find that most days I don't bother with any makeup, except one light layer of Tinted Brow Boost. It works out well. I have before and after pics both from the day before I started using the Brow Defining Boost and Lash Serum to now, and then immediate effects of how the Brow Boost works when applied to bare brows. I don't have thin brows by any means, but I don't consider them so thick that they're "feathered" looking either, there's plenty of sparse areas as well as the brow hair itself being thinner naturally. I'm not usually a big brow gel or tinted brow gel fan because of those I've tried, they can be quite messy if there is too much product on the wand. However, this one has not given me a problem. The formula is a little bit drier than some other tinted "brow gel" formulas I've tried, but I prefer that because that's what makes it buildable for your ideal coverage. I can't deny that it has helped the look of my brows quite a bit in every aspect after using it consistently for a little more than a month. Mainly, I notice I don't have as much "filling in" to do. My brow routine has become so much quicker and easier to do. As we all know brows are "sisters and not twins," yet some days mine tend to look like distant cousins, once removed. This product totally helps that problem. If you've never used a brow gel like this or any brow gel for that matter, no worries I'm gonna walk you through it. Luckily these types of products are the easiest brow products to use with the most results. So, as you know I do my eye makeup first, before my base makeup it just helps me clean up mistakes and fall out. Same goes for this product and most brow gels. I typically will apply a layer of this and then do my eye makeup. That way it's fully set by the time I start to apply my face products. Your foundation brush or beauty blender is going to clean up any mistakes, but if you're foundation discolors your brows or covers a particularly thin part up, like the tail of the brow for instance, then you can add another layer. I use a light hand when applying this or light pressure I guess I should say. I focus on the bristles of the wand grabbing onto the hair itself and not so much on applying it directly to the skin. For that, I usually just dip an angled brush into the excess product I didn't use and then define and sculpt the brow a little more. Also using it to shade in the sparse areas on the brows as well if they need it. You don't have to do that; I don't do that all the time, but I do when I want a little more definition. I also follow the natural direction of the brow hairs them-self mostly, only brushing them upward slightly as I use short strokes. A small piece of application advice: don't lead with the very tip of the brush because brow products like these tend to hold the most product at the tip and makes it harder to get an even coverage. I apply it two ways. First is doing it as the length of the brush itself and following the hair. Then I rotate it downward slightly (still using the length of the brush mostly) so that the brush is in more of an angle and I brush upwards, slightly, in small strokes. I try not to make brow hairs go in a direction they wouldn't naturally go. It's one of those situations where you have to embrace the brows natural shape and direction and build on that to enhance the appearance. Whereas, you can't really use products to change your brow structure completely. Some people have very arched brows, some have straighter brows, some have fuller and others are naturally thinner in shape. Just build on what you have to get to a point where you're happy with the look of them overall. Now it's time for the part where I give you their claims on the products like usual.
