Sephora's Spring VIB Sale is coming up. So per usual I'd like to provide you with a buying guide of things I think would be good choices to pick up. I prefer to buy more expensive items during these sales to take the sting off the price a little bit. Keep in mind you can return stuff to Sephora even if you've used it, they have a wonderful return possibility. It's also a great time to pick up things you use constantly or that you know you love and will use. These are the only sales that I actually "plan out" to get the most bang for your buck and to buy smart and use it to your advantage.

I feel like skincare is the biggest expense and also the bigger concern so I prefer buying skincare during these. So I will have a skincare suggestions list, and a makeup suggestions list, and some honorable mentions at the end.

Starting with skincare, I like buying value sets. You get to try more stuff for a better price and for things you aren't positive if you'll like, you get to sample it first kinda.

Skincare Suggestions:
  • Drunk Elephant AHA Kit $96. This is especially good if you like the TLC Framboos Glycolic Toner because you get a full size of that in here plus 2 deluxe samples of Firma C Vitamin C Serum, that I love. You also get a deluxe sample B-Hydra that is also a very nice hydrating gel. So the TLC is $90 originally I think, and for $6 more you can get two other products, that happen to be very good products.

  • Drunk Elephant Let's B Clear $82. You get quite a bit of stuff in this set. A full size of B-Hydra which is $52, a small PeKee Bar which is a cleanser bar, a travel size TLC, a travel size Firma C, a travel size Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. So you're getting a lot of really good products in this. It's a great way to test nearly half the line. Or at least their best sellers.

  • Sunday Riley Power Duo Set $85. I've gotten this a few times. It's .5 oz of Luna Sleeping Oil and Good Genes. Good Genes is my favorite AHA and Luna Sleeping Oil is a really good start if you are wanting to try a very mild retinol. It's like a "cousin" to retinol. This is the set for you if you're wanting to step up your skincare game due to aging or if you're wanting to add acids and retinols. A 1 oz of Good Genes is $105 and a 1 oz of Luna is also $105. So these are .5 oz each and they last a fairly decent time. It's a great buy if you are just trying them. The Good Genes is a little strong so bear that in mind, it also houses Lactic Acid. You may would want to start with the Drunk Elephant TLC since it's a Glycolic Acid and a %12 AHA/BHA blend.

  • If you want to try Tatcha it would be a good time to do so. Their Tatcha Bestseller set is the route I would go since it has the Rice exfoliator and the Luminous spray as well as other products for $59. I don't care for Tatcha myself, I think it's a bit of a "trendy" brand but some people love it. If it works for you then, have at it.

  • Fresh has a cool set out that is the Fresh Skincare Matchmaker Customizable Set for $80. You get to pick your own mask and it comes with a 1.7 oz Soy Cleanser that I love, a .5 oz Lotus Youth Preserve Night Cream. I would choose the Vitamin Nectar Mask if it were me because it is phenomenal. This is actually a great deal. There are 3 full size masks to choose from.

  • Tata Harper is another brand that is getting a lot of buzz lately. They are kinda expensive but they have a lot of sets in their range as well which is nice. I would choose the Detox Defense for $42 if it were me. You get to try the Purifying Cleanser, the Nourishing Oil Cleanser, the Purifying Mask and the Replenishing Nutrient Complex. It might be a small set so there are other that have more. To me I would get this because I do not know if I would like their products so I'd rather try something small if I was bound and determined to try it. In saying that though I like to buy things I've been eyeing for a while or things I know that I love to utilize the discount in the sale.

Also it's a great time to buy skincare tools. I recommend the PMD Personal Micro-dermabrasion set, a Clarisonic, or a Foreo Luna. All of those especially the cleansing devices make a huge difference in your skin and hardly ever need to be replaced.

Makeup is often times more exciting and fun for people. I felt the very same way. Where I like to buy skincare sets in these sales I don't like to buy makeup sets because I'd rather buy full size of something I know I'd use. I generally go for foundation, which is what I will do this time as well. A nice eye shadow palette, not gimmicky. Something that blends beautifully and gets the job done. I often buy palettes a lot come to think of it. I also buy stuff that I use constantly that I need to stock up on.

Makeup Suggestions:
  • Foundation. Foundation is the biggest thing. They are often pretty expensive at Sephora. So That's my go to during a sale. Marc Jacobs ReMarcable is my go to and my favorite. I also like MUFE Ultra HD stick foundation. Cover FX offers very nice foundations as well as loose powders.

  • Powders is the next thing. More so loose powders. Cover FX is my favorite. I'm in the minority that doesn't like Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. Loose powders tend to be quite expensive as well. As far as pressed powders go Algenist Color Correcting Finishing powder, you already know.

  • Palettes are another thing that are a given. If you're interested in Natasha Denona I would for sure get one during a sale. Viseart palettes are the one I recommend. Especially the mattes. The colors can be mixed together to make other colors and they are suitable for every skin tone. The thought behind these palettes are incredible and I love them. I use them everyday. There is no other matte formula that blends like these. Some other palettes I think would be good to check out would be the Benefit CheekParade palette for $58. It's all full sized powders and you get 5 powders, 2 being new. Two bronzers and 3 blushes and a brush. I think it's a great deal period and why not get extra off of it. Highlighter palettes like the Smashbox x Casey Holmes Spotlight palettes ($35) are phenomenal. I like them better than the ABH palettes. Face palettes of course are good like the Hourglass palettes and the Kevyn Aucoin palettes. Tarte Tarteist Pro eye palette is $53 and it's amazing. I use it all the time. It's all mattes except for 4 duo-chromes (honestly I never use those). The mattes blend like butter and it smells like chocolate.

  • Algenist Luminizing Drops are my favorite liquid highlight. They don't settle into fine lines or emphasize pores. I apply them with the butt of my beauty sponge and they are amazing. My favorite is Pearl but I love Rose and Champagne as well.

  • Marc Jacobs O! Mega Bronzer is another good option. It's $49 and now is available in 2 shades. One being from the Coconut collection and limited edition I believe. They're huge and you get a lot of product.

  • It's  a good time to get your favorite mascara. I love the YSL The Shock mascara. I also really like the Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.

So for some honorable mentions:

Brush sets, especially the Natasha Denona one.
Dyson Hair Dryer that is ridiculously expensive.
Too Faced Natural Love Ultimate Neutral Eye Shadow Palette. Lots of neutrals and in matte and shimmer formulas.
Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector Pressed
Primers, ie: Smashbox, Hourglass Veil, Dr Brandt Pore Minimizing, Becca Ever Matte.
MUFE Star Lit loose powders
Stila Magnificent Metal Glitters
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Moisturizer
If you wanted to try LaMer now would be a good time but so far I don't care for much of it but they do have some sets available.

So those are just some things that I suggest. Of course it's not the Gospel people, you're free to buy whatever you want.

**I hear that the sale is the 7th of April but I haven't had that confirmed and usually the spring sale is 10%-15% depending on what tier your on with the Beauty Insider**
