Hey guys. I picked up some items from the Welcome Back sale from Sephora. Which is still going on till the 23rd of August. What I really love about this sale is that it doesn't matter what tier you're on, you're still going to get $15 off $75 and $20 off $100. Usually it does. Also, you can use this multiple times in the store but only once online. I, of course, ordered online. So with that out of the way let's get into what I got. I picked up Sephora Favorites "Give Me Some Shine" lip set. It has some cult favorites and trendy items at the moment. It's $29 for 5 products, 2 full size and 3 travel size. The whole set is everyday, nude or even clear, shades. One balm, and four glosses (one being a plumping gloss).
I also got LAWLESS Woke Up Like This Foundation because it was already on sale and I had looked at it forever. They have a lot of shades and so far from swatching it, it seems to be completely liquid and almost feels kinda oily. I know it's medium to full coverage, light weight, and buildable per the claims but I truly don't know how it's going to go. It's going to be one of those have to try it, with a brush more than likely, and see what happens because a swatch isn't telling me anything. It needs a full test run. Alpha H Mini Liquid Gold Exfoliating Treatment. I got this purely because Caroline Hirons raves about but also, their founder passed away recently, Michelle Doherty, and I just wanted to show some love and appreciate their brand. I know it's a good product, undoubtedly, and I love acid exfoliation. I have several AHA exfoliators though and therefore I just picked up the travel size for right now. I got the Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm. Mainly this is a cleansing balm like the others that's going to break down your makeup for you. However, there's also a claim about it having so resurfacing qualities to it as well as soothing qualities. I'd like to test that theory and possibly see if it would do well as a morning cleanse too. I really enjoy some balm cleansers in the morning because they're more gently and some are truly hydrating like the Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm, that doubles as a hydrating mask, that I love so much. Lastly, this was on a whim, and a last minute decision. I got the Gucci Bronzing Powder. The packaging sucked me in man. It's heavily fragranced. I got shade 4 because the lighter ones were sold out. It's got pretty good pigment. So I will likely have to go in a little light handed but it's also buildable too. So, there's wiggle room if you're skintone gets darker in the summer or there's a few skintones that could use this shade. I feel like it has a more red undertone. Which I like for myself, I think it looks the best in regards to contouring the face for me. It has a satin-y finish that I'm not sure everyone will love because you do catch some glimpses of shimmer in there when you turn certain ways. It's not "shimmery" but I know people enjoy either matte or natural as bronzer and that's it. I must say I'm usually that person too, I was surprised this was a strong satin finish. Of course with the luxury products it comes in a beautiful velvet pouch....which is a nude shade. As Sabastian Maniiscalco says, "FOR WHY?!". You know that it's going to get stuff all over it and ruin it. What's happening here? There's 5 shades, I got shade 4 which is "Tan" and I can still use it, I would've preferred "Light" but it was out of stock. I'm pale man, I've not seen the sun all year, I've been sick, I'm almost at the level of sleeping in a coffin next to Dracula.....if shade Tan can "work" for me then this was not designed for dark skin tones at all. As always, we need to do better than this. I see this more and more with luxury brands, more so than anyone else (of course there's still plenty who don't offer many options, of any price point). It just seems to me that it's the luxury brands that keep doing the same 4 or 5 shades. This is a $62 product. It's a heavy-ish plastic and possibly "tin?" unit, and holding 12 grams of product plus a brush under the bronzer pan compartment. For reference the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer is 25 grams, double the amount of product, and $49 (only 3 shade options though). So, she's pretty and I'll use it....but there's room for improvement.
That wraps up this little haul. If you want to shop the sale the code is "WELCOMEBACK" and again it goes to the 23rd. One time use online, and multiple use in store. They also offer Klarna now, which breaks your payment down to 4 separate payments that charge your card automatically. I love you all. Stay safe. Thank you for reading.
