I recently got some new stuff from Colourpop. As you know I'm a huge fan of Colourpop. I just picked up some new stuff from newer collections. Not just one specific collection. I got 3 of the Satin Liquid Lipsticks. 2 are the new ones from the spring collection and 1 from the first line. 1 Sculpting Stix from the Jaime King collab Brow Color and Dope Taupe. I also got another Dare eye shadow since mine bit the dust. (not pictured) The most exciting thing I think is the lip sticks. Especially the shade Naked Ladies. It's like that perfect bright Coral. It looks red when swatched with other Reds but it's definitely gonna be my summer shade cause it's that intense Coral-y Red. Second is Botanical which always seems so much lighter in person. It's like a good brighter sherbet color. It's very similar in my opinion to Retro Coral from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It doesn't look so much like it in the swatches but it really is similar in person. Bad Habit is a color I definitely didn't have. It's a blue based bright pink. It's a bit more of a duo chrome since there seems to be a metallic color shift. So for the other swatches with the new colors to see what are similar. The sculpting stick is really similar to Tarte's cream contour stick. Bottom line if you like cream contour I think you should try it. It blends well. I only use it under foundation so I can speak for what it does on top of foundation. However, it's not expensive so I really do think it's a deal. In the picture above Top to Bottom: New Renaissance CP, Tarte Sculptor in Park Avenue Princess #3, Tarte Sculptor in Park Avenue Princess. Lastly is the Brow Color. This is basically a pomade. I got Dope Taupe and I really really like it. If you like sculpting your brows I would pick one of these up in a heart beat. It goes on really well and stays on well. They are also offering brow pencils too and they look similar to the Brow Wiz from ABH but I'm not sure. The pic below: Top left: Bad Habit Top Right: Naked Ladies Bottom Left: Botanical So that's it. As always I love everything I got. Colourpop very rarely lets me down. They're inexpensive and they're pretty fast with their shipping. So check them out if you've not. I'll leave their link here. Also sign up for emails and get a $5 off coupon.

**the picture above is from the Anastasia website because I couldn't get a good pic of the shape of mine. If you are familiar with my blog you know that I'm a huge fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills. Everything that I have from them I've really liked. So it's never a question on whether or not I'm going to like a new product they launch, it's just a given. Their newest product they've launched is the Brow Definer. Which in my eyes is like brow wiz on steroids. Its a triangle shape looking at it straight down the tube. The reason for the shape is so you can have three different ways to fill in your brows from thin-thicker-very thick. So you could use it for short thin strokes to mimic hair like a brow wiz using the tip of the brush, you could make thicker hairs by using the back side of the pencil. Or you could use it to fill in the brow quickly with the full length of the pencil flat against the skin. You could also use it to draw and sculpt the brow holding it parallel (longest side) and using the length of the product. Being somewhat of an angled brush shape it carves a brow much easier than a Brow Wiz but not as sculpted and intense as Dip Brow pomade is, and this gives you more control. The Brow Wiz is a thin pointed tip that works really well to mimic hairs but harder and more time consuming to fill in the entire brow and also harder to sculpt brows evenly. This makes that much, much easier due to the slanted angle provided by the pencil. Now if you like that really intense brow, or ombre brow where the tail is super intense and sculpted I'd use Dip Brow and powder. If you like a softer, yet defined brow I would definitely use this. It just is more convenient and it cuts your time in half. Plus you don't have to reach for seven different products to do your brows. You have 3 options of application and a spooley brush on the opposite side. This spooley is bigger than the Brow Wiz spooley which I actually like the one on the Brow Wiz better. This works just as well though. I just prefer smaller spooleys. Another thing I LOVE about this is that you get .007 oz of product in this and in a Brow Wiz you get .003 oz. So that's more than double the product. My biggest issue with the Brow Wiz is that it runs out so fast on me and I'm hoping this won't do that. The Brow Definer is $2 more ($23) than the Brow Wiz ($21). If you have a pro discount with ABH you can not use it on the Brow Definer right now. This is available on the ABH website (of course), and online at Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, Nordstrom and Dillards. I also got 4 of the newer eye shadow shades they released for the fall. I got Henna, Prussian Blue, Macaroon and Party Dress. Looking at these now with some of the other shades I have from their line I wish I would've picked some other colors maybe but none the less I really love these colors I just happen to own some that are similar. Henna is a gorgeous foiled type orange/copper shade but it reminds me of China Rose a little only way more intense and darker somewhat. Prussian Blue is a super pretty foiled blue shade, it reminds me of Mermaid and Dragon Fly though but more of a true blue. Macaroon is my jam. It's a foiled lavender/mauve shade and it's stunning. I would say it's kinda similar to Pink Champagne but this is definitely more lavender and better formula. Last but not least I got Party Dress which I wasn't really enthused about but it's actually really pretty it's neutral/nude with flecks of glitter in it that you can actually see instead of being all shimmer, this is more matte with glitter the tone of it is similar to Bengal but with glitter. Which makes that shade very unique and cool. The quality of these are amazing. They're even better than the first shadows they released that I have and I'm still a big fan of those. The Titanium line had a lot of fall out originally but the new foiled style shades like Henna, Prussian Blue and Macaroon adhere better to the eye, keep their intensity, and are more opaque it seems. Where as the Titanium shades like Pink Champagne and Metal needed to be layered over another shadow I found. Not that I didn't love those anyways these are just even better. Another really awesome thing is that before you got a discount if you done an 8 well palette. Now you can do a 4 well palette for $40. Making these $10 a piece when, I believe, regularly they're $12 a piece. So that's actually really awesome. They have said that their shadows and other products besides brow products are coming to Ulta, Sephora, etc, sometime in early spring I'm guessing. So if you're someone who needs to see things in person (I'm looking at you, Savannah.) You will be able to do so. In this picture above I'm wearing Henna in the center. Bengal in the crease and some Red Earth as well. Then on the outer and inner corners I'm wearing Noir, layered over Deep Plum, over Smoke which is over Red Earth. So if you were to apply it you would Bengal in the crease first, Red Earth on the inner and outer corners and buffed into the crease, then Smoke on the inner and outer corners, then over that you'd do Deep Plum and finish with Noir. Although you could finish with Deep Plum and it look awesome as well. I took a little Deep Plum into the crease as well, just a smidge to carve out the crease. I loved this so much that I didn't want to take it off at night and it's been a while since I've loved a look that much. In this picture I'm wearing Macaroon as the star of the show. It's beautifully frosted and lavender. I applied it with my finger to the center of the lid.
Also using the Brow Definer as well for my brows. And that was the only thing I used to fill in/sculpt my brows. A few days ago I done a post about what was trending in the makeup world. I mentioned feathered brows and that's what this post is about. This is actually really simple if you already have a good shape to your brow. I have fuller, thicker brows so it's really easy for me to do. This is also a much more subtle and natural look than the sculpted, ombre, intense brows we've been seeing. I like both trends but this one is gonna be easier to do for beginners and just all around not intimidating. The only two products I used were: Benefit Gimme Brow and an eye shadow/brow powder. First I just brushed the brow up, to see the shape. I used LAB 2 Beauty brushes for this. The double ended brow groomer and the angled brow and liner brush. Next I go in with a shadow or brow powder that is close to the brow color. I use this just to fill in. Not line it or define it like I normally would. I use short strokes and go the direction of the hair growth. If you want you can take the brush spooly or disposable mascara wand and comb through the brow to soften the edges and keep your "feathered" look in place. This next step is where the feathered part really comes out. I take the Benefit Gimme Brow which is a tinted brow fiber gel and LIGHTLY go over the brows. I just drag it through the hairs, I don't press it against the skin. The point of the feathered brow is that it looks a little "unruly" and messy while still being filled in. Where as a sculpted brow is very structured and sleek.
Side note: The Gimme Brow is also great to use just by its self for a really low key look. If you're someone who likes minimal makeup but you still need your brows filled in a little the Gimme Brow is good for that because the fibers cling to the hair and build it up to make them fuller. It comes in two shades I have Medium Deep but it also comes in Light/Medium. Sorry about the lighting in these pictures I done this last night so they're a little dark. Recently I picked up some new brow products from Ulta. I got the NYX Tame and Frame brow pomade which is along the same lines as Anastasia Beverly Hill Dip Brow. So I already owned the Dip Brow and I wanted to try these because they were buy 1 get 1 50% off. They're about $7 a piece. Which is way better than $18 for the Dip Brow. So I got Blonde and Brunette. I thought that would be good for my clients and it was a great deal so why not. First thing is: they're really good. Like impressive. They are almost like a mousse consistency instead of a cream. Or just incredibly creamy whatever you prefer. They are very easy to work with. I honestly think I like them a little better than the Dip Brow. The only possible negative thing is they might could smudge possible if you used too much. However, work with a little product and build from there is what I would recommend. Tame and Frame in Brunette Tame and Frame in Blonde The Tame in Frame is actually more product than the Dip Brow. Dip Brow is 4g and Tame and Frame is 5g. So that's definitely a plus. They're used the same way. A pomade or cream is going to really sculpt the brow better than a pencil or powder. If you are going for something subtle I recommend using a powder. If you don't have a lot of experience with your brow shade then pomade and creams can get over done or tooooo sculpted. When you're a brunette like me that's easy to do anyway because you almost always look boxy and sculpted. I've just came to accept it. The way to avoid that is to brush through the hair with a spooly brush continuously to avoid getting boxy and looking too sculpted. I used the blonde in the front of the brow and the brunette through the rest. The brunette is what's going to give it its shape and define it but the blonde is going to subtly fill in the sparse areas in the front without getting too boxy. The brunette is not the exact color of the Dip Brow Medium Brown but it's very close. It's just a little lighter I would say. This is a before and after of my unruly brows and then after I've filled them in using both Blonde and Brunette Tame and Frame. I give this two thumbs up. There are 5 shades and they are $6.99 at Ulta and buy one get one 50% off. |
