So it's time again for another Sephora Play! box. By now, you probably understand the subscription process and what not so I won't get into that. This month's theme is "Best In Glow". You of course get your 50 extra bonus points card (in store purchases only).
So this box includes:
So starting with the Stella Mccartney Pop Parfum Sample, I really like this. It's different than the other scents they usually put in. It's very fun, fresh, but bold scent. Doesn't give me a headache and I think that's because it's so "fresh" smelling. I'm very pleased with this. Again I don't care for "parfum" samples. They're like the devil's candy if you find one you like, cause next thing you know your shelling out the big bucks for it. Alas, here we are though. Next up is Sephora Collection Lip Gel. It's very very bright pink in the container. It has a cool applicator, quite thick in formula, could be very pigmented if you layered it but mainly it's a sheer pink when thinned out. It's also quite sticky and it kinda smells like cherry cigars actually. lol It also leaves a bit of a stain behind and a sticky residue. Not too keen on this. Glam Glow Youthmud. I've not used this. I hear good and bad things about it. There's mostly claims of uncomfortable irritation when it's used especially on sensitive skin. So I'm not super psyched about it. Cover FX Illuminating Primer. I love the Cover FX primers and I'm excited to try the illuminating one. I think it'll be just as good as the others from their line. Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. This is loaded with antioxidants and it's super thin. I actually really like it. It has no fragrance listed on the ingredient deck. I really think this is ideal for daily "day time" wear. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Rose Gold. I have several caviar sticks and there is actually a Cavier Stick Set that is out right now that has 4 minis in it. I have Amethyst and Khaki in them and I'm really happy they included Rose Gold in the box. These are really great as eyeshadow bases and as easy, simple, out the door eye makeup that you don't have to think about. So here's my thoughts on the box as a whole. There wasn't much I didn't like or wasn't jazzed about. Again though, I'm seeing a lot of repeats of deluxe promo samples or point perks. Especially the Cover FX primer, Caudalie Sorbet, and I think the Glamglow. The parfum has been offered in a bigger size as a 250 pt perk and also as a deluxe sample here recently because I have one coming that was a promo. So from that respect it still bothers me that all these things seem like recycled freebies that you're paying for each month. Now if you don't shop at Sephora a lot then it's not a bad shake. However, like I said I liked 80% of the box this time. Even though it's a lot of repeats. At least it's repeats that I like. So for instance I have 2 Caudalie deluxe samples of the Vinosource. They come in at .33 FL Oz a piece and a full size is 1.6oz or 40ml. So having two of these gives me .66oz or 20 ml. So that's half of a full size which runs for about $40. So I have half that already and I guess you could say it only cost me $10 but that $10 is split between 6 items. So it's really however you want to look at that.

It's time for another Sephora Play! box. This one actually arrived quite late. I got it on the 21st. They bill you around the 1st part of the month but it usually gets to me around the 15th I think. I almost thought it wasn't coming. It did though, so all is well. This month's box is actually really good I think. The theme is "The Cool Cut". As always you get a card for 50 extra bonus points that expire by the 30th of November.
What's in the box this month: Smashbox Always on Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver's Seat NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek pencil in Belle Too Cool For School Egg Mellow Cream Skin INC. Pure Revival Peel Verb Leave-in Mist Tom Ford Orchid Soleil Starting with the Tom Ford perfume. You know I don't like perfume that much and I really don't like perfume being one of the samples. This is kinda musky too me and a little "old lady" ish. Verb Leave In Mist. I'm excited to try this it's a leave in conditioner, detangler and defrizz. Verb is a really good brand. They're very popular in the hair care world. This enhances hair's shine while also being a heat protectant as a bonus. Skin INC Pure Revival Peel. This "gently sloths away dead skin cells to reveal a bright renewed complexion." So basically it's a gentle exfoliator. Too Cool For School Egg Mellow Cream. This is a 5 in 1 cream made with egg extract and collagen fiber. It can be used as an eye cream, a serum, primer, sleeping mask, and neck cream. I've actually seen the sheet masks they have in this and wanted to try them. So this I'm pretty excited about. Nudestix lip and cheek pencil in Belle. This is a nice dark mauve shade. I wouldn't use it on my cheeks because I don't like cream blush, but it's very opaque super pretty for fall and it's quite dark so I'm loving it on the lips. Smashbox Liquid Lipstick in Driver's Seat. This is a very warm rose shade with a brown undertone. I absolutely love the Aways on Matte Liquid Lipsticks and this one is no different, again it's a really great fall shade. It's not like last year when the trend was cool toned every thing, berry, and greys. It seems like this year it's muted oranges, warm browns, and brick shades. This falls right into that warm toned category. Going in my purse for sure! So that was this month's box. I really liked it. If you would like to sign up for a Sephora Play! box I will leave the link here. It's $10 a month. It's time again for another Sephora Play! box. This month the theme is The UNBASIC Basics. As always you get a point card that gives you 50 extra points on any purchase INSIDE a Sephora store. (I really wish that worked online as well). None the less it's a plus and it's valid for a month.
So in this box you get: Atelier Cologne in Sud Magnolia Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper Ole Henricksen Sheer Transfomation facial cream Sephora lipstick in Love Spell Living Proof Perfect Hair Day night cap, overnight protector Starting with the perfume, as you know I don't care for a lot of perfumes and I wish they werent in the box. However, this one doesn't smell bad but it's very very strong. ABH Clear Brow Gel: This has been a deluxe sample free with purchase but I do think it's a good thing to have and a nice additive to put in the box because it is very well loved. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. If this had been the Ink liner I would've been let down cause I don't care for it. This has also been a point perk/freebie before. So I'm seeing that same trend from the last box which is just recycling the same point perks or samples for the box. Which in that respect is a let down. This product however is very good, just like the brow gel it's a very good staple item and a cult favorite. Ole Henricksen Sheer Transformation: I don't love this and it has definitely been a point perk before but it was a bigger size I think when it was. Some people love this moisturizer and the brand itself is very good, it just wasn't MY favorite. Sephora lipstick in Love Spell: I like this product. It's very pink but I still like it. This is new I've not seen it, so that was a plus. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day night cap: This is what makes the box this time. Not because I know if it's good or not but because it's a full 1 oz in size, I've not seen it as a point perk or sample before and I don't imagine they would let it be this big of a size for a point perk or sample. Maybe a 500 point perk box though. I actually really like the idea of a overnight hair treatment. You apply it to damp hair before bed, comb through, and then either "wash out or style your hair in the morning". So I haven't tried it yet but I definitely will. It's supposed to give you "up to one week of more shiny, vibrant, and manageable hair". So all in all, I wasn't in love with this box but it was definitely better than last month's for sure. Some of these things I already have currently like the Tattoo Liner and Brow Gel and even though I have them it's still cool they're in the box too, because they are genuinely very good products. I'll leave the link here if you want to sign up for the Sephora Play! subscription. It's $10 a month well $10.93 if you want to get technical. So it's time for another look inside this month's Play! by Sephora. I'll get straight into it.
This box is: "The Eye Openers" Lancome: The Smoothing & Glow Boosting Liquid Care Algenist: Complete Eye Renewal Balm Urban Decay: Perversion Mascara Sephora Collection: Contour Eye Pencil 12 hr Wear Make Up For Ever: Artist Shadow in 6P01 Clean Perfume in Reserve I'm gonna say right off the bat this box was lack luster for me. Mainly because I seen a lot of repeats of point perks or "deluxe samples" you get for free as promotion when you spend $25. So that makes me a little disappointed. If I'm paying $10 a month even though I know that's not much for a box of samples. Still I would like them to be different and not something I've seen a lot of been offered as a promo. Maybe one or two things but not all of them, you know what I mean? I kinda feel like this box was a waste of $10 is what I'm saying. Anyway lets get into this: Lancome The Smoothing and Glow Boosting Liquid Care: Long description short, this is supposed to be a very hydrating moisturizer, that makes you look more radiant and what have you. This may or may not be good but it's such a small sample I don't see how you could get more than a weeks use (maybe) out of this. Algenist: I have the full size of this. I've also received the sample of it a few times including this time. This is a very good eye cream. It's definitely worth checking out. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: This is my favorite "high end" mascara. I love it. I prefer travel size mascara because we never finish a full tube of mascara before it needs to be thrown out (3 months is how long mascara lasts). I've also received this as a sample a few times as well. Sephora Collection eye pencil: I think I seen this as a point perk. The shade I have is Plum I think. It's supposed to be water proof and 12 hr wear. I'm not a big crayon eye liner fan. There's only a few I like. This could be interesting. Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow: this is in the shade 6P01 it's like a taupe color with a touch of plum. It very shimmery and it's beautiful. It's creamy and lovely like all the Artist Shadows. So this was cool to have in the box. There is a 500 pt perk out right now from Make Up For Ever and it looks like the eye shadow in that is the same eye shadow in this box. I can't be sure but they look very similar. Clean Reserve perfume: I'm sorry but this smells like really intense laundry detergent. Like really strong detergent. It gives me a headache and I don't like it. So that's that. Sorry it was kinda negative. I'm just not overly impressed with this box. I'd like to see some brands that are lesser known that are "under the radar", for example I loved that OUAI was included last month, for the love of God get rid of the perfume samples, and I'd like to see just one skin care product. That is if I had any say in this which I don't. Here is the link to sign up for the subscription if you want it. So this months Sephora Play! box got lost in all the chaos of these past few weeks. Plus it was actually a really good box. So my apologies for not getting this posted sooner. Like always I'm going to tell you each thing that was in the box and then briefly give you my thoughts on each item.
Items: Chocolate Soleil Bronzer by Too Faced Blotterazzi by Beauty Blender Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer by Smashbox Deep Cleanser by First Aid Beauty Citrine by Nest Wave Spray by OUAI Chocolate Soleil Bronzer: This was in a thin plastic casing of the famous bronzer from Too Faced. I actually own the full size and I love it. It smells like chocolate and to me I like the Chocolate better than the Milk Chocolate Bronzer because the Chocolate works better for contouring. I like my bronzers a bit cooler in tone so that I can use them as bronzer and contour. It's really really nice. This was quite small but still the pan itself was decent sized. Blotterazzi: I'll be honest, for some reason blotting oil with a slice of sponge really grosses me out. I feel like that would breed bacteria especially if you're just throwing it in your bag without a casing. Aside from that I still don't see the point in having a thin sponge to absorb oil that you have to wash. I much prefer oil sheets. I understand this helps with touch ups and I could totally see that but for blotting I just am not interested in it. Sorry!! BUT I do think it's very cool that they included one in the box because as you know Beauty Blender isn't a cheap brand. Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer: I don't like the original Photo Finish primer by Smashbox that is super well known. So I didn't have high hopes for this but I actually love it! I like this better than most of my smoothing primers I have that are also pore minimizing. I truly do like this primer I wish it was a tad bigger in size but I understand the size based on how big some of the other stuff was. Deep Cleanser: This is a Red Clay cleanser. First Aid Beauty is really coming up strong in the skin care game I feel, and are making themselves known. There's no doubt they have some amazing products. I had never gotten to try this cleanser. I've been using it with my Foreo Luna and I really like it. I don't know if I notice that much of a difference but it's still a nice cleanser that does it's job. So it's neither here nor there for me so far but I will continue to use it. Citrine perfume: I see NEST everywhere I look in Sephora. As you already know I'm not keen on perfumes since I'm so particular with scents and how they mess with my head. This was ok, but it smelt super similar to Clinique Happy or maybe Clinique Happy Heart. Which used to be my favorite perfume when I was younger but now it just gives me a headache. Wave Spray: I was so, so, so pumped to see this in the box. This is such a HUGE size that is actually sold at Sephora in the travel section for like $12 I think. Which is more than this whole box costs. Plus this is a really buzzed about hair product line from Jen Atkins who has been a celebrity hairstylist for years and recently launched her own line into Sephora. Everyone loves the entire line and honestly it's fair priced. I have the Texturizing Hair Spray as well, it smells amazing and it works so good. This Wave Spray is no different, it smells amazing also and gives you that beachy wave you're looking for. So this is what made the box for me this month. I think this box has been my favorite so far. Mind you I've only had 3 boxes. I'm gonna leave the link here where you can sign up for the subscription service if you're interested. It's $10 a month, well $10.93 when it's all said and done. It comes with a pamplet and then a bonus card that if you present it in store, you get an extra 50 Beauty Insider points with any purchase you make and that card expires in a month I believe. So it's a really cool subscription service (the only one I was interested in doing) and I really love what I'm seeing so far. It's time for another Sephora Play! box. This month's box was awesome for one reason and one reason only. Which we will get into. If you don't know Sephora has started a beauty subscription service for 6 deluxe samples ranging from hair to fragrance to makeup. It's $10 a month. There used to be a waiting list that you had to sign up on. I'm not sure if that's still the case but I'll leave the link here, where you can get information and sign up for it. Always keep in mind that these are all brands that Sephora carries and they are deluxe samples not full sized. Also keep in mind that you get a card every month that you can present in store only and get 50 extra beauty points on your purchase.
So in this box you get: Bare Minerals Bare Skin Sheer Sun Benefit They're Real Mascara Bumble and Bumble Bb Don't Blow It Becca Backlight Priming Filter Tarte Tartegaurd 30 Tocca Eau de Parfum in Florence Here's my thoughts right off hand: Bare Minerals Bare Skin Sheer Sun serum bronzer. This is like a liquid bronzer that can be added to, on top of or under foundation. Or you can wear it on its own. Liquid bronzers and bronzer oils are super popular this year. I've not tried Bare Minerals that much but I really like this. It's versatile and it's an awesome shade. It's not crazy intense and it doesn't seem to have any noticeable shimmer in it. I think this a great "beginner" liquid bronzer if you're unsure about how you would like it. You could find a way to use it so that it wouldn't go to waste and it's not too intense. So I like this. Benefit They're Real Mascara. I am the only person in the world that doesn't like this mascara. I give every single one I get to my mom. Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It Hair Styler. "Great hair without heat or hassle" I don't know about this. So far it's not done anything for me. Becca Backlighting Primer Filter. THIS WAS WHAT WON THE BOX. This is a really good sized sample and it's so talked about. A very well loved primer that sells out all the time. This feels amazing and it feels so hydrating as well as just being gorgeous on the skin. I was SO pumped when I seen this. Tarte Tarteguard 30. This is a 30 spf sunscreen that I keep in my bag for the pool or vacation where I know I'm gonna be getting some sun. I love actually that it's a smaller size. I ALWAYS use spf on my face and I don't go below 30 spf. It also smells freaking amazing. Tocca Florence. As you know I'm picky with fragrance. This one I actually like. It's very different for me though. It smells muskier but still fresh and feminine. The notes according to Sephora are: Italian Bergamot, Grapefruit Leaves, Green Pear, Apple, Ivory Gardenia, Crushed Violet Petals, Jasmine, Tuberose, Blue Iris, Blonde Wood, White Musk. So that's it. Some really good hits and very few misses. If you don't know, Sephora has a subscription box now. It's a waiting list right now I believe. I'll leave the link to where you can sign up though. So I think I'm gonna do an un-boxing every month of what you get in the box and my thoughts on the products. First off, what you get is a pamplet of all the things that's in the box. It describes what they are, what they do, some fun facts, so on so forth. You get a card that will get you an extra 50 points with a purchase IN STORE, that expires at the end of the next month. So the May card will expire on June 30th. You can use multiple "play passes" but it still only gets you an extra 50 points so don't think you can use two at a time in one shot and get 100 points. On the back of the card it tells you what's in the box and how much a full size of that item would cost. So you get some deluxe samples. I really just see 4 deluxe samples and then two regular samples. What I got was: Origins Clear Improvement Packet, Drink Up Intensive Night mask, and the Maskimizer mask primer spray Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! deep conditioning mask Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine Tarte Tartiest Lip Crayon in Latergram Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi So with the Origin's I have the Clear Improvement Mask and while it's a fan favorite I don't care for it. I do on the other hand love overnight masks. I think they do so much work. As for the mist I can't understand why you'd need a mask primer, it's supposed to maximize the experience of the mask. I'm willing to try it but I just feel like it's an unnecessary step. I will say thought that it is a very refreshing mist on i's own. The Briogeo hair mask smells amazing. It has Argan and Avacado Oil in it which makes it super intense and hydrating. This is something I would put on the ends of my hair mainly. Cause they are a bit dry. So at best I would do mid shaft down. I don't like incredibly moisturizing stuff on the roots of my hair. Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial. I have this along with two other Sleeping Facials from Korres. I love anything rose, it feels amazing on the skin. This is a brightening mask, it has Vitamin C which is used often to brighten skin. It also is said to help with fine lines and even skin tone. I thoroughly enjoy it. Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine, this is strong. Very very strong. I don't care for it. Tarte Tartiest Lip Crayon in Latergram is a good brown toned neutral lip liner. It's a super thin crayon that is mechanical twist up. It's not the creamiest but that just means it should last longer than super creamy lip liners. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi. I expected nothing from this cause I don't like Bite Beauty lipsticks. I like their crayons but not their lipsticks, they sweat, they melt super easy because they are completely organic and could literally be eaten. This color though......guys......it's gorgeous. It's the most insanely beautiful bright pink. I love it. It's also a better formula. It's not super shiny, it's very opaque, and looks to be semi matte. It's still incredibly hydrating though because it has 12 oils in it, including Coconut Oil and Pomegranate Oil. Pomegranate Oil has antioxidants which protect you from "environmental damage" which I'd assume would mean UV rays. Coconut Oil is highly anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and hydrating obviously. So all good stuff, lets just hope it stays on well. You also get this cute little back that has everything in it. It's only $10 a month for the subscription. Which is much cheaper than most. Here is the link to sign up for Play! By Sephora. Remember you might be on a waiting list for a while. They will email you when you've made it into the subscription. They don't take the money out until you are to start receiving the subscription box.
