Hey guys! I can't believe August is nearly over. For some reason, false lashes have been a discussion among a bunch of my friends and some followers. I've found myself recommending certain styles and giving my person tips because I do wear lashes all the time. So my friend Rhea told me I should do a post about tips and tricks. That's exactly what I'm going to do.

Milk has been a brand that has been hit or miss for me. With very few hits actually until now. I think it's because I in general don't like "stick" products like the blur sticks and the Matcha cleanser stick. It's just not my bag. Although I do really like the Matcha Toner stick and I like the water stick too, I just hadn't found a really great product yet. Then they released the Kush products starting with Kush mascara and then the brow products. That is when the tide changed my friends. That is what we're here to talk about today.
Covergirl has launched a new mascara and primer. While this post won't be super long, I though why not review it really fast. The newest additions are Flourish Lash Blast Amplify Primer and 4 shades of the new Flourish by Lash Blast mascara.
Let's talk makeup. I recently got to try some more products from Touch in Sol. I've tried a few of their products before but this time I got to try their mascara and a different color in their Metallist Foil eye shadow duo. I had one but they sent me a different color so I thought it'd be neat to see how consistent the formula was. So lets get on with it!
I got sent an Influenster box to test out the Grande Lash products from Grande Cosmetics, which is a Mascara, Primer, and MD Lash Serum. I've tried many serums so I wasn't super hopefully but I did like that the mascara and primer both contributed to your lashes growing faster or at the very least looking better. I've been using it for a month. So let's talk about it.
I hope you like the shorter blog posts. Some rapid fire favorites....both skincare and makeup related. I'm surprised that I've never listed my favorite false lashes actually. I know I've reviewed several here and there but as far as a top 5 I've not done that. So, I wanted to because I tend to stick with my faves and I literally wear lashes every time I wear makeup.
In the beginning of my blogging and artistry the rage was mink lashes but the faux mink made a big impact. I prefer faux mink. I think they perform better, I don't have issues with taking care of them and getting a lot of wear out of them. The price is way better and they're easier to find. **The picture above is from the Kiss website** Here we are on another episode of "Why Isn't Anyone Talking About This?". Where I like to bring you things that I think are awesome but I'm not hearing much buzz about. So I'm not gonna waste time we're just gonna get straight into this. You know I love false lashes. I absolutely love them from inexpensive to expensive, if they look bomb but feel even better then I'm a fan. For a while I was a mink lash fan and still am to some degree. However, faux mink became so huge in the last two years and looked just as good as the expensive mink lashes on the market. I was first turned onto the "synthetic mink" styles by Violet Voss I think they do the best and ever since then I give all "faux mink" lines a second look. I'm also a big fan of Kiss Lashes in general. If you were to text me and say "I'm at Walgreens and I want to try lashes, what lashes do I get?", I would tell you Kiss Lashes every time from the regular line or the new line either one. They have recently (I guess) released Kiss Lash Couture Faux Mink Collection. I have Gala and Boudoir. I will be getting some other styles. Hands down Boudoir is my every day favorite. Gala is perfect for when you want just a bit more drama but it's not incredibly intense. These lashes fit amazingly well they're band is actually kinda short so they fit my eyes great. If you like the House of Lashes "Mini" line, then I think you'd like these. I can't speak to the other styles except these two for right now. I absolutely love them. I got mine off Amazon because I didn't want to go and search for them and they costed $8 for one pair. If you go on the Kiss website they are actually $6. So I will be ordering from there next unless I do see them in my local drugstore. I did note that you can order multiple packs on Amazon, I think I seen 2 for $13. So it's all in what you're comfortable with. Violet Voss lashes are about $10 a pair I believe, House of Lashes is around $9 I think, so for the quality and the price I can't believe more people aren't talking about these. They are an ABSOLUTE find! If you love lashes, or especially if you have a hard time with band length on your lashes, go check these out. This isn't sponsored in any way. I've never talked to Kiss Products before, pretty sure they don't know who I am, so from one makeup to another you won't be sorry! In the picture above I'm wearing Boudoir lashes. These are the Gala lashes. I actually wore them on Valentine's Day to celebrate with my husband. I thought I had a close up picture but apparently not. I will get one and update this post though as soon as I do. From this shot though you can see that they do give a little bit of a more dramatic and sexier look to the makeup.
Not long ago I talked about Studio Gear with you and their Dual Identity Mineral Foundation, Revitalizing Day Serum, and brush which I really enjoyed. They recently sent out their TLS Mascara, Invincible Gel Liner in Earth and the Multi Tasker angled brush.
So here's the high notes: TLS Mascara: Thickens, Lengthens, and Separates lashes. I'm gonna insert some of the companies claims of the mascara. • Naturally derived collagen, hydrolyzed wheat protein and antioxidants nourish, condition, and protect the lashes. • Deep, rich pigments create high impact lashes • Long wearing without clumping, flaking or smearing. Invincible Gel Liner in Earth which is a deep brown shade. It's a cream gel liner in a pot, obviously. Here's the company quote on the gel liner. • High performance, water/smudge proof formula • Capable of creating intense, sheer or smoky effect • Use as shadow or liner The #31 Invincible Multi-Tasker Brush. This is an angled synthetic brush made from Taklon Nylon. Here's the company quote on the brush. "This brush has an exclusive and unique ergonomic shape developed to fit perfectly into the corners of your eye. This brush moves naturally with the shape of your lid enabling you to effortlessly sweep the liner along your lashes creating a precise line. The flat, curved shape is perfect for applying liquid, cake, cream, gel and powder (wet or dry) products." Studio Gear was designed for makeup artists or MUA's, if you will. They wanted to create products that could be personal to the person wearing it. Like your own personal coat of arms or a jersey. Their main goal is your confidence and how you express yourself. Formulating products that it's easy to express yourself with. Their products are high quality, intensely pigmented and professional grade so whether you're a editorial artist, working on a set, freelancer, or someone who just really enjoys makeup, it'll be very easy for you to find your own creativity and let that come out when using their products. Plus the added longevity of their products make it easier to wear your customized look all day without the fear of it going anywhere. As of right now, I can't talk about the gel liner. I'm waiting on a replacement that they're supposed to be sending out. I will update this post when I get that. The #31 brush is an angled brush. I find it thicker than most angled brushes which makes it great for smudging liner, the lower lash line, and even sculpting brows. Like it says in their statement it was developed to fit the corners of the eye and move with the natural shape of your lid. I really love their brushes. They all are very nice and perform very well from what I've seen so far. So I would recommend them just by their self in general. The mascara, is a bit thin in formula. If you don't like that you can leave the wand unscrewed over night and it should thicken the formula of any mascara. I find this mascara definitely separates. There is no clumping at all and it doesn't seem to budge once it's on your lashes. It coats them evenly. My lashes are very fine, thin and kinda short. They have a lot of volume on their own, which is why I never curl them. I think this is a good "building" mascara. It's thinner consistency makes it easier to layer until you get the desired effect you want. So I'm satisfied with that. I tend to where false lashes a lot, but the days that I've wore this, it worked just fine. They did give you a discount code which is 10% "SGEYES" I'm gonna leave the link for these below: https://studiogearcosmetics.com/collections/eye **This post was powered by Brand Backer** Recently Violet Voss released some new faux mink 3d lashes. I got the 3 pack bundle for $27.99. It comes with Just Slayin, Sexy and Eye Know It, and Eye Donut Care. These are $10 a piece so buying the bundle saves you some money. I loved the first line of lashes like Vamptress, Eye Dgaf, Wisp it Real Good and so on, so I was very excited about these. I will say I like the original ones more so because some of these can be difficult to wear. Particularly Eye Donut Care. It really made my eyes itch. The other two I really loved though. These are Sexy and Eye Know It. I paired it with a really dark smokey eye. They held their own obviously. Other lashes that are more natural would kind of get lost in a look like this and these made the look I think. They're absolutely beautiful. I'm in love. In the second picture I'm just obsessed with them. It's not an overly dramatic eye but the lashes are just perfect for it. These are Just Slayin. They're very natural and dainty. As you can see these can easily get lost in a look and become very unnoticeable which can be great or kinda suck, depending on what you want. I would wear these with a lighter eye look like the 2nd picture. The first eye look is a bit smoky, so I would use these with just a winged liner look possibly or by their self. These are super wearable though in general, not the type of lashes that will make someone do a double take. These are Eye Donut Care lashes. These are not my favorite but none the less here they are. These are just a bit more dramatic than Just Slayin'. I prefer Just Slayin'. My favorites are Sexy And Eye Know It as well as Just Slayin. My all time favorite is still Vamptress from the first line. Definitely check these out I love 3D style lashes and you can't beat this price point.
So this week I got some Colour Pop products. I got some of the new Raye Boyce collaboration, one of the new Holiday lip colors, a new-ish gel liner, and 3 newer shadow shades. These are the three shadows I got. Glitterati I was most skeptical about but it's become my favorite. I think it's very similar to Kat Von D Thunderstruck actually just with glitter. It's a silver shade with plenty of sprakle. It's metallic finish and those are some of my favorite finishes in the entire line, those and the pressed pigments. Leopard is this INTENSE royal purple. It's matte and full blown purple. It's gorgeous. Drift is your typical cranberry color that's perfect for the holidays. It's a pearlized finish so it's got a sheen to it more than a shimmer. I actually thought it would be a much deeper red/burgundy but it's not it's a medium toned burgundy. I love cranberry shades they are so overlooked and they shouldn't be because they're gorgeous on everyone. This is Rayezor, the collaboration with Raye Boyce. It's SO my style. It's just a perfect greyish mauve which I love. If you like Brink, I think you would like this. It reminds me of Underground from Gerard Cosmetics only better. It's just so pretty and very "everyday" in my opinion. I only have the lippie pencil as you know I prefer them to lipsticks. She also created a very beautiful liquid lipstick called Stingraye that I wish I would've gotten. It's a dead on dupe for Jefree Star Androgyny and ABH Veronica. Such popular colors but this one is $6. This is one of the new holiday colors. It's called Scrooge. Which I though was so cute. It's a very pretty medium berry. It's almost pink but a little too dark to be pink so it qualifies as berry but it's not deep at all. So if you don't like plums or anything dark but you want something that's not incredibly bright, you may really like this shade. Also just $6. This is the gel liner in Swerve. I just got black because I needed a black gel liner and also I hadn't heard the best reviews on this so I felt black was a safer route. I absolutely love this gel liner. It's very creamy in the pot and goes on very smooth and easy. It dries matte and doesn't budge. I'm not sure if that's why people didn't like them because they dry kinda fast and you couldn't really work with them after that, but I find that if you mess up gel liner anyway you're kinda screwed whether it dries fast or not. I mean if you mess it up and try fixing it it's gonna smudge so at least this really doesn't smudge. I haven't had any issues with it though. It goes on smooth and gives me plenty of time to draw my wing plus it's very easy to take off. A makeup wipe takes mine off. My Makeup Geek liner requires lots of rubbing and eye makeup remover. This was also $6. So in this looks I'm wearing:
Rayezor on the lips Swerve gel liner Leopard and Glitterati (center of the lid) on the eye. Glitterati is so beautiful, it looks silver but it has a golden duo chrome to it and it's so pretty. |
