Makeup doesn't have to be fancy. I'm so happy to see the days gone where drugstore makeup really looked atrocious. So glad to not have to go and choose just one thing from the Clinique counter (because it was the least pricey at the time) help your makeup when it really didn't, but we all have that mint green compact didn't we girls? So dang glad to see more affordable brands coming into Sephora and indie brands making a huge impact thanks to online availability. So I compiled a list of my least expensive but favorite products for as many category's as I could. I think I pretty much have them all.
I've been playing with the Natasha Denona Diamond Blush palette for about 3 weeks. I didn't know if I wanted to review it or not because I genuinely got it for myself and I picked the Citrus one because I loved that gold/yellow highlight over the coral pink blush. I already knew there would be things I didn't like about it so that's what gave me pause briefly.
I finally got around to trying some new launches in makeup. My no buy is over. Which gave me a full month to watch releases, reviews, and really see what I wanted to try. One of those products being the NARS Natural Radiant Long Wear foundation. It had good reviews from everything I saw. I in general, love NARS foundations. So I was very excited.
OK. WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE GLITTER OVERLOAD PEOPLE!? Listen, I know that we've shared plenty of articles and discussed this a few times already but apparently the brands aren't getting the message. QUIT PUTTING GLITTER IN PRODUCTS!!!! I'm down for loose glitter pigments for the eye, I'm ok with glitter eye shadows or oversprays of glitter in my eyeshadow. BUT I DO NOT WANT GLITTER ALL OVER MY FACE AND THEN IN MY SKINCARE AS WELL. ITS A "NO" ON BOTH CATEGORIES.
Ok, before we get alarmed there is no gold in this product it's merely a metaphor. I shouldn't have to explain that but we're in a time now where we give a disclaimer for absolutely everything. So moving on, as you know I'm a skincare nerd. Also as may know I put out a 2018 predictions where I talked about "peptides" still making a big impact for 2018 and referenced the new Drunk Elephant Protini, when I didn't know too much about it except that it was to be peptide driven.
I felt it very appropriate to do a monthly favorites, since I've been on a no buy for the last month. Therefore, I really dug deep in re-trying all my products again and purging the ones that didn't like anymore. It was a very interesting month. I rediscovered the products I really truly loved.
So let's just get into them:
Guys....I'm having such a good day. I hope you are too. I've fell down the rabbit hole of Twitter and I can't stay off of it. Also, professionally it's already been a fantastic week and it's only Tuesday. So I'm so excited.
Anyway, why we're here today is to do a Brand Overview of Dr. Roebucks. As you know, I've loved them for quite a while. Basically right before they went on Sephora is when I became acquainted with them and they're lovely. I can honestly sit here and tell you that there is not a single product I don't like and there is only one product that I don't own. There is also an offer for you guys at the end of this.
I hope you like the shorter blog posts. Some rapid fire favorites....both skincare and makeup related. I'm surprised that I've never listed my favorite false lashes actually. I know I've reviewed several here and there but as far as a top 5 I've not done that. So, I wanted to because I tend to stick with my faves and I literally wear lashes every time I wear makeup.
In the beginning of my blogging and artistry the rage was mink lashes but the faux mink made a big impact. I prefer faux mink. I think they perform better, I don't have issues with taking care of them and getting a lot of wear out of them. The price is way better and they're easier to find.
This routine can be used morning or night, or both if you want to. It's by far the shortest routine I have because everything in here packs a punch. At night I usually have at least two serums, a double cleanse maybe, an oil and lock it in with a moisturizer. Not to mention weekly treatments and eye creams. So it's quite extensive or can be but I love it. I love skincare so it doesn't bother you but it gets tricky. This is much more simple.
First up I started with Elemis Pro Collagen which is my fave balm cleanser. For several reasons but one of those being that you can leave it on for say 5-10 minutes, especially in the AM, and it will soften the skin. I find this very comforting on tired skin as well as being an effective cleanser. It's a nourishing and gentle cleanser and I love it! It's been a favorite for over a year.
Next up is a new product from REN Skincare (@renskincareus). The sent me a package (thank you so much guys!) and the new AHA Tonic Ready Steady Glow as well as another product. It's a push down dispenser and it gives the skin a glow. It smells very nice, it didn't really tingle to me. I used a fair amount. I am so happy to see brands coming out with AHA liquid toners for morning and night. I'm never let down by REN Skincare they're a "clean beauty" brand, their products, when compared to other brands in Sephora, are probably mid tier price point? I love them and I really love this it's very refreshing. I've used it both morning and night and it's been great so far.
Next up I'm using Exuviance Total Correct + Sculpt Serum. Which I have an entire review on. This serum is what I like to call a super serum. It has everything you need to correct, tone, benefit and nourish you skin. It helps with discoloration, it has antioxidant benefits with Vitamin C, it helps smooth the fine lines and skin in general. It's just very nice and I love it. It's a pump packaging.
Last is also new from Drunk Elephant. It's the new Protini Polypeptide Cream. This has 9 signal peptide waterlily blend. First impression I really love this. It's so light weight. It cuts down on steps for me because peptides are in the cream as well as amino acids and more. It's almost like a water cream but it's not hardly there in my opinion. I think I like this just a little better than my LaLa Retro Whipped Cream from them because of the added benefits. It can also be added to any serum, oil, or moisturizer as well. I think they hit it out of the park with this I truly do. Also thank you Drunk Elephant for sending this to me as well!
So that's it. If I would've been wearing makeup I would've done a double cleanse. Other than that, that's about all I would add to this routine in particular because I love how easy it is. I switch up my routines everyday as you know. So this won't always be the routine it's super nice though and it's a routine that packs a punch.
"Products were sent to me at some time or the other, the post isn't sponsored. I didn't have to talk to them in this at all."
*Sorry Deciem I used your photo. Mine looked roughhhhhh*
How's your January been? Mine has been interesting. I've been super focused on using up products before I buy other things and just in general cutting back on a lot of things in my life. Which has really helped me see how I truly feel about products especially. Once I've used them up I see if I feel the need to get them again. So it's been very interesting.
I'm a makeup and skincare lover. I have always enjoyed creating looks but I love to help people with product knowledge and application even more. I've been able to do these things because God has seen fit to bless me with the opportunity.
