Ok, before we get alarmed there is no gold in this product it's merely a metaphor. I shouldn't have to explain that but we're in a time now where we give a disclaimer for absolutely everything. So moving on, as you know I'm a skincare nerd. Also as may know I put out a 2018 predictions where I talked about "peptides" still making a big impact for 2018 and referenced the new Drunk Elephant Protini, when I didn't know too much about it except that it was to be peptide driven.

I felt it very appropriate to do a monthly favorites, since I've been on a no buy for the last month. Therefore, I really dug deep in re-trying all my products again and purging the ones that didn't like anymore. It was a very interesting month. I rediscovered the products I really truly loved.
So let's just get into them: Guys....I'm having such a good day. I hope you are too. I've fell down the rabbit hole of Twitter and I can't stay off of it. Also, professionally it's already been a fantastic week and it's only Tuesday. So I'm so excited.
Anyway, why we're here today is to do a Brand Overview of Dr. Roebucks. As you know, I've loved them for quite a while. Basically right before they went on Sephora is when I became acquainted with them and they're lovely. I can honestly sit here and tell you that there is not a single product I don't like and there is only one product that I don't own. I hope you like the shorter blog posts. Some rapid fire favorites....both skincare and makeup related. I'm surprised that I've never listed my favorite false lashes actually. I know I've reviewed several here and there but as far as a top 5 I've not done that. So, I wanted to because I tend to stick with my faves and I literally wear lashes every time I wear makeup.
In the beginning of my blogging and artistry the rage was mink lashes but the faux mink made a big impact. I prefer faux mink. I think they perform better, I don't have issues with taking care of them and getting a lot of wear out of them. The price is way better and they're easier to find. This routine can be used morning or night, or both if you want to. It's by far the shortest routine I have because everything in here packs a punch. At night I usually have at least two serums, a double cleanse maybe, an oil and lock it in with a moisturizer. Not to mention weekly treatments and eye creams. So it's quite extensive or can be but I love it. I love skincare so it doesn't bother you but it gets tricky. This is much more simple. First up I started with Elemis Pro Collagen which is my fave balm cleanser. For several reasons but one of those being that you can leave it on for say 5-10 minutes, especially in the AM, and it will soften the skin. I find this very comforting on tired skin as well as being an effective cleanser. It's a nourishing and gentle cleanser and I love it! It's been a favorite for over a year.
Next up is a new product from REN Skincare (@renskincareus). The sent me a package (thank you so much guys!) and the new AHA Tonic Ready Steady Glow as well as another product. It's a push down dispenser and it gives the skin a glow. It smells very nice, it didn't really tingle to me. I used a fair amount. I am so happy to see brands coming out with AHA liquid toners for morning and night. I'm never let down by REN Skincare they're a "clean beauty" brand, their products, when compared to other brands in Sephora, are probably mid tier price point? I love them and I really love this it's very refreshing. I've used it both morning and night and it's been great so far. Next up I'm using Exuviance Total Correct + Sculpt Serum. Which I have an entire review on. This serum is what I like to call a super serum. It has everything you need to correct, tone, benefit and nourish you skin. It helps with discoloration, it has antioxidant benefits with Vitamin C, it helps smooth the fine lines and skin in general. It's just very nice and I love it. It's a pump packaging. Last is also new from Drunk Elephant. It's the new Protini Polypeptide Cream. This has 9 signal peptide waterlily blend. First impression I really love this. It's so light weight. It cuts down on steps for me because peptides are in the cream as well as amino acids and more. It's almost like a water cream but it's not hardly there in my opinion. I think I like this just a little better than my LaLa Retro Whipped Cream from them because of the added benefits. It can also be added to any serum, oil, or moisturizer as well. I think they hit it out of the park with this I truly do. Also thank you Drunk Elephant for sending this to me as well! So that's it. If I would've been wearing makeup I would've done a double cleanse. Other than that, that's about all I would add to this routine in particular because I love how easy it is. I switch up my routines everyday as you know. So this won't always be the routine it's super nice though and it's a routine that packs a punch. "Products were sent to me at some time or the other, the post isn't sponsored. I didn't have to talk to them in this at all." *Sorry Deciem I used your photo. Mine looked roughhhhhh*
How's your January been? Mine has been interesting. I've been super focused on using up products before I buy other things and just in general cutting back on a lot of things in my life. Which has really helped me see how I truly feel about products especially. Once I've used them up I see if I feel the need to get them again. So it's been very interesting. This past week maybe , I've really gotten into this particular concoction for my skin. It's making your own tea toner. I say toner but really it just is incredibly soothing for the skin. That's what I'm going to say is it's biggest benefit. So if you have red skin, irritated skin, overly dry, or just need a refreshing kick in the morning, I think you would like this.
Here we are, winter has set in.....kinda. Tennessee can not get it's shit together. It was 20 degrees yesterday and it's 63 degrees today. So I don't know where we're at. Today's blog post will be brief I hope, as it's just a few thoughts I have that I wanted to put out there and see if I was the only one or possibly to make others think.
How's 2018 been so far to you? I walked/crawled into 2018 with the flu. So I'm just now starting to feel like myself. However, while I was bed ridden my skincare AM and PM routines were really lengthy or I did a lot of treatments like masks and so on. So my skin feels amazing. lol
One reason why it does is because of the Exuviance AGE REVERSE Total Correct + Serum. They sent this out weeks ago and as soon as I got done testing the Neostrata Tri Therapy I wen straight to this. When we think of aging we tend to think of sagging skin, wrinkles, just basically a loss in elasticity. That's only part of the aging process though. There's discoloration to look at, a loss of hydration, dullness, dark spots that pop up, etc. All of that along with the wrinkles and saggy skin our mind automatically goes too. I want to say this before we get into this, aging isn't a bad thing. It's part of nature and it doesn't need to be referred to so negatively. It also doesn't need to be looked at so negatively either or feel "shamed" by it. We all age. It doesn't mean that a good skincare routine with a very good daily treatment, won't help us out though. Mainly because as you get older the more your body needs because it doesn't make it like it used to or you've come to the point (and it's a different age for everyone) where you need some help. Like with Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Antioxdants, etc.
Happy New Year! We haven't talked about Neostrata in a minute and it's not the Holidays without Neostrata in my line up. I have exciting news though they came out with a new product!
I've been using it for over a month. At the beginning I was layering too many products onto my neck because I bring my retinol down my neck, moisturizer, acid toning, vit c, etc. So it took me a minute to simplify my routine that I was in the habit of, to incorporate this correctly to include not just my face but also my neck because that's where I notice the majority of elasticity loss. I do however, have the starting of some crows feet or small lines around my eyes. I find this helpful because there aren't formula's out there in serums and treatments that can be taken past the orbital bone unless they're in the eye cream department. I've seen the before and after pictures of targeted areas that after 12 weeks of use the eye area especially looks far smoother. Also part of the SKIN ACTIVE line they have an Eye Therapy serum. That I feel used in conjunction gives even better benefits. |
