This eye look was inspired by the glitter I used. The glitter is from Glitter Injections and it's called Angel Kiss. I really loved it and when I seen it I could just see the color combination in my head that I was gonna do. Also used some new products on my face which Im gonna do a haul in a few days so there will be swatches. I really love using makeup in an artistic way. It's so much fun for me. Lots of times when I feel sick or not having a good health day I'll go play in my makeup and create something weird and crazy as a form of release I guess. As you know I love color and Lisa Frank is pretty much as colorful as you can get. I used mainly face paint crayons and some pink lipstick for this along with a few eyeliners. The detailing was done with liquid liner from Wet n Wild. Hello Guys!! This weekend I got to do something really cool. I got to go and be a special guest at the Miss Tennessee and Miss Kentucky Pageant kick off at The Boutique in The Island at Pigeon Forge. It was such a fun event and so crazy. I got to set up and do makeup demonstrations and talk makeup tips with lots of different girls and I had a great time. So I thought I'd do a blog post about it just sharing with you the pictures from the event. This is Jordan who is Miss Tennessee United States 2014. She so nice and also a fellow makeup artist and blogger. Go follow her on Instagram. @misstennesseeus This is Katy she's Miss Kentucky 2014. Also a fellow makeup artist If I had to guess I'd say there was about 60 pageant girls there. From pre-teen and up. It's was chaotic but so fun. Thank you Ms Lynne who owns The Boutique. She talked to me about this a month before it actually happened and I really appreciate not just this opportunity but all the good word she's spread about my blog and how much she's helped me. She's always believed in this whole thing even at times when I wasn't so sure. This is Nicole she's was competing in the Miss Tennessee pageant. We hung out most of the night and it was so much fun working on her but also answering her questions about makeup. She's so nice and I wish her the best of luck with the competition. This is my husband and I in some of the free Smokey Mountain Moonshine hats they gave away. He was so much help and I mean that literally he helped The Boutique set up and clean up and helped with the food when he could've just went and done his own thing which I told him to do. Instead he stayed with me the whole time and I appreciated it so much. He also got us a hotel suite at Margaritaville Hotel for Valentines Day and it was so nice and was a total surprise. Our hotel overlooked the Ferris wheel and the water fountains lit up in all different colors to different songs. And finally this is me at the end of the night. Wore out, in my comfy sweatshirt and no makeup. It was a blessed weekend though and im blessed to be able to share it with all of you. I know I've really not got up as many looks this week as I normally do but I've been super busy. So today was the only day I actually had to do my own makeup lol. I've always really loved finding awesome products that aren't as well known. I don't know if I feel like they may have something extra in them that's all around better like the Elixir of Life or healing properties but I always feel so accomplished when I can find something cool that's homemade/handmade and not incredibly mass produced. As you know I love small boutiques and small businesses so it just makes sense that I would be all about trying handmade products and giving them a shot. I must say that while I've come across some things that I just think are terrible, I've came across more great things over all which makes me very happy so here I am showing you my favorites in both Bath, Skin, and Beauty. We'll start with the bath and skin stuff first seeing as how I've never talked about them before on here. Also I usually find all this stuff on Etsy. Sometimes I do find stuff in boutiques but lots of times it's just cheaper and more choices on Etsy. First up the picture above starting on the left Blood Orange Sugar Cookie Parfait Cream Soap from Mad City Soap . This literally smells like a dreamsicle, not kinda not a faint resemblance, exactly like it. So if that's not you're favorite then by pass this particular scent. They have others and I can't imagine that any of them wouldn't smell as rich as this one does. This is a cream soap, it reminds me of the LUSH solid conditioners that are in blocks. The texture is the same. It's filled as much as possible and packed down so that you actually get a lot of product. I used about a dime size I would say at first and it was plenty. It lathers so much even if you're just using your hands to get it to lather and the smell doesn't fade as it lathers and while you use it, it actually stays on the skin. I don't think it makes my skin feel super smooth or that it goes on creamy it's just a really nice soap to use. I'm really well pleased with it. For 4oz it was $6 not including shipping. Next is Lemon Pound Cake Yellow Whipped Soap from The Bathtub Bakery. This is a whipped soap, looks cake icing really. It's really light and airy as far as the product goes but the scent is strong and Lemon Pound Cake/Cookies is my favorite scent as far as scents go. It really is. I don't like the actual lemon baked goods but love the scents in candles, soaps, lotions, whatever. This is a really creamy formula that goes on. It doesn't lather quite like the cream soap does and the scent isn't as strong once it's on the skin but I love that about it too it's not too overbearing and still feels really nice. This is also 4 oz and was $6.50 not including shipping. Because it's "whipped" it's not as packed in as a cream soap is but you still get a good amount of product that you won't run out of anytime soon. They also have tons of different scents and products for you to browse through. Next up is Tangerine Lip Scrub from Becca and Mars. I was needing a lip scrub because I didn't have one at all and I thought going indie would be good because it's not usually as expensive and definitely more natural which this certainly is. It's a 100% natural actually and when you use it you can actually just lick it off your lips when it's time to take it off. The scrub part is sugar so it's sweet tasting. I really like it and it worked but I do wish it had just a little more scrub to it, because I really have to get more than I'd like out in order for it to really scrub but it's still really good. It's extremely moisturizing as well so it's the best of both worlds because I don't have to apply a balm afterwards. This is .25oz for $3.50. They have lots of other body oils and skin products as well as other scents for you to check out while you're looking. Lastly is Lemon Pound Cake Whipped Body Butter by Ten Digit Creations. I've had this the longest out of all the products and as you know now I love lemon baked good's scented things. This is completely vegan and made with shea butter and jojoba oil. It's really thick and creamy. It feels like an expensive body butter because it's made so well and so moisturizing. The scent to me smells more Vanilla Cookies with an after scent of lemon but it still smells really really good. This is 2oz for $5. Next up are some eyeshadow pigments that I've used for a while and mentioned in many many looks that I've done. They were some of the first indie products I tried. In the vials are Scaredy Cat Cosmetics pigments I chose my favorite colors but I probably have 10 to 15 of these little vials which is another reason I love buying from smaller companies because alot of times you can buy samples. It's hard to go through even an entire sample because as you know with pigments a little goes a long way. When I bought these you could buy 5 for $5 of 10 for $10 I believe and pick the colors you wanted. I always done 5 at a time though just to see how well they would work and how the pigmentation was. Needless to say I was not disappointed and what made it even better was that I contacted the owner to see if she had anything similar to MAC pigment in Melon and she actually made me an extra vial of her best shot at trying to duplicate that pigment for me. Which really touched my heart and showed me that she wanted to be as helpful as she could. My other set of pigments is from Lumikki Cosmetics. I've heard lots of mixed reviews on the shipping and actually getting these products when you order them but I never had a single issue. They are off Etsy now so perhaps they have their own website they're selling from but I have 8 of these samples. I placed 2 orders at separate times and got them in the exact time frame that was listed. So I can't say anything bad about them. I believe these were $3 a sample which is 1/4 tsp. Which is plenty. I've used the heck out of these and still have lots of product. These are the most unique colors I've ever come across as well. They have some really interesting colors that I've not seen anywhere else. It's very mythical and mystical even the names like "Spock, Witches Brew, Dragon Scale" but I really like that actually. I always think the companies that draw inspirations from mystical and fairy tale type worlds have the coolest products and colors because they aren't focusing on this world and this reality they're allowing their mind to roam far off and it's really awesome to see what that turns into. These are a few of my favorite pigments from Scaredy Cat Cosmetics from left to right: Flounce cat (a pale pinky gold) Rose Gold (obviously) Ring A Ling (a lilac with a slight cool pink duo chrome) and Pheonix Tears which was the reason I even bought from the company in the first place (a coral orange with gold flecks in it). These are definitely more smooth as far as pigment goes. Not a lot of glitter or anything in them,
So my lovely friend Jamie came by for a Valentines Day look. Which is always fun cause she lovely anything purple or pink. We had a great time busting out some brighter colors and lashes on her. Eyes: ABH China Rose, Electro and Violet Colour Pop: Fantasy, Dare and Too Soon Red Cherry 747s cut down Face: Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation MAC Careblend Pressed Powder in Dark Becca Songbird Blush Laura Mercier Highlight in 01 Lips: ABH Lovely Hello my loves! I've missed you. I've had a minor stomach bug and been out of commission for a couple days. I'm back now and bringing you a new Valentines Day look for those of you that like dark and dramatic looks. This is one of those harsh edge smokey eyes. You can use tape to make sure you get a harsh line or do your best with an angled brush which is what I do and then clean it up with makeup remover. Eye: MUG Corrupt and Hipster (hipster is the first color I put down in the crease as more of a wash of color) ABH Pink Champagne (corner or the eye) and Dusty Rose (directly in the crease and lower lash line) MUG immortal gel liner for the wing Lena Lashes style Bianca ABH dip brow Face: NARS All Day Weightless Foundation mixed with a drop of almond oil ABH Contour Kit Becca Songbird Blush Lips: Nude option is ABH Pure Hollywood Red option is NARS matte lip pencil in Cruella I want to say that when you are doing a heavy dark look like this be sure your face has warmth and color to it. So you'll need to go heavier than normal with bronzer and pick a blush that warmer and darker too which is which I chose Songbird. Id stay away from cool toned pinks or bright pinks Id stay more with corals and peachy colors. So once or twice a week I do extra deep cleansing and pampering to my skin. To unclog pores and exfoliate dead skin. It's absolutely necessary with all the makeup that I do. Left to Right REN Flash Rinse Minute Facial Biore Pore Strips L'Occitane Immortelle Precious Cream Peter Thomas Roth Anti Aging Cleansing Gel Peter Thomas Roth Firmx Peeling Gel Exfoliator This isn't the order I use them in mind you. First up I cleanse just regularly to take off my makeup and such. Then I use the REN 1 minute facial. This is not for sensitive skin. You massage it on to the skin in circular motions them wet your fingers and massage again to activate it. You then leave it on for one minute. It kinda stings or burns a little that's the Vitamin C in it. It really helps get the squeaky clean feeling and smooth the face of any texture issues. This isn't for everybody it can make the skin really sensitive after use but doesn't cause me any irritations and I always use a heavy but gentle moisturizer in the end. Next I move on to exfoliating. I have general exfoliators that I love but the peeling gel is totally different. You start with dry skin and rub the gel onto the skin. As you rub, the gel starts to literally roll dead skin away. Like dead skin just balls up and falls off. Mind you the first time you use it it's going to be a lot if you keep it up its not going to be as much after the first initial time. I use this about once a week or anytime I notice I've got texture issues getting worse. I promise you your skin will feel so smooth. Like unbelievably smooth. After that I use pore strips. I'm prone to black heads and I have large pores. Very large pores and they are always clogged. So this is a must cause it can be noticeable under foundation even. So I use a pore strip once a week definitely on my nose and sometimes on my forehead and chin but they aren't near as bad as my nose gets. Lastly I use the L'Occitane Immortelle Cream to moisturize. This is heavy but such a nice cream. It smells really nice too. Mine is a deluxe sample and the full size is quite expensive but I feel like it's worth it. It's not what I use every night just once a week cause it's gentle on my skin but definitely heavy and soft. That's about it. Sometimes I use my Caudile Grape Water mist toner since its for sensitive skin. I use it if I'm still feeling a bit tingly from the facial and pore strips I use. Goodnight my loves! *remember to follow me on Instagram (@lovemascara) if you aren't already. Lots of fun stuff on there! Yea I'm loving this. LOVING THIS. It's by far my favorite Valentine's Day look. Eyes: MUG Bitten and Mango Tango Colour Pop: Too Soon from Rebound set ABH: Electro in the inner corner Face: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation ABH Contour Kit MUG Romance Blush TheBalm Mary Louminizer Lips: MAC Flamingo and Coral Bliss Today I'm trying the new NARS foundation. The shade Im using is Gobi which is a light pale yellow undertone. Which as you know, I prefer. So the foundation is supposed to feel like nothing and look like a better version of your skin. The perfect foundation right? I would say it's medium to full coverage more so on the full side. I do really like it but I have extremely dry skin with extra dry patches so it really clung to those. I applied it with a flat top kabuki and it went on nicely but like I said where I'm dry it looked very flaky. So to remedy that somewhat I started spraying Fix+ on a duo fiber brush and patting it on the skin before appling any powder. It did help but I feel like using a damp beauty blender would've helped more and a heavier moisturizer. The one I chose was thin and light so tomorrow I believe I'll try a heavier one or maybe even an oil. This is $48 available at Sephora or NARs and it's 1 oz. You don't need a whole lot of this either to get coverage so I feel like it's fairly priced. They have a TON of shade ranges which is fantastic. Lots of yellow bases and neutral and even some peachy ones. There's literally a shade for everyone and that's a huge relief. It always sucks not being able to try a foundation because there's not a shade for you and when it's a high price point it's ridiculous to buy two just to get your shade. That's just my opinion though you most certainly can do whatever you like. |
