The new-ish trend in makeup (which is actually not new at all) is berry lips. We're a couple months away from fall and honestly plum/mauve colored lips have been relatively popular ever since Kylie Jenner wore Faux and Soar from MAC. So this look below reminds me of fall. I done a low side Chignon hair style to make it very elegant and I paired it with Tulle from Colour Pop which is my new "go to" berry lip. Oh my gosh I love it. I've already got a post about the Colour Pop Liquid Lipsticks. They sold out so fast (they're back in stock now) that I only got four. When they came back in stock I knew I wanted to pick up some fall colors. I got Succulent, Tulle, and Avenue. Avenue is a beautiful dark red. Not burgundy really, a true red. It's supposed to be the dupe for Lime Crime Wicked and ABH Heathers. I really love it. I was afraid I wouldn't but I actually really do. Will be stunning for fall and winter especially Christmas looks. Tulle is my favorite. I love this color so much. It's a beautiful plum/deep mauve color without brown tones that we're seeing so much. I've not seen a dead on dupe for this but Kat Von D Lolita and ABH Veronica are kinda similar. With this one being a little darker I think. This is a popular shade. Another shade that would be a good one to get if you don't like that one would be Bumble. Succulent reminds me of fruit punch or a cherry. It's a very bright red coral color. I think it's really similar to Harlot from OCC. But I think I like Harlot just a little more. I expected this to be a little more electric coral instead of so much red in it. None the less it's very pretty.
Again these are $6 and they shipped within two days of me ordering them. So like I couldn't love Colour Pop enough as is, they make things even better and get my order to me faster. This is not a sponsored post in any way, these are my genuine thoughts and comments and I bought these with my own money.

As you know, I love all types of makeup. People ask me if I ever wear makeup from drugstores and the answer is "absolutely!". I wear something drugstore every day usually. The truth is that while there are really awesome things that you have to pay a little more for, there are also awesome things you can find cheaper. I never mind investing in good concealer, or correctors and even foundation. I do not buy expensive gloss, mascara, or eyeliners and as of the last few years the drugstore companies have really stepped up their game as far as makeup quality. So there are great foundations and concealers out as well now. Starting with your base: Revlon Colorstay Foundation (the combination/oily formula) Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (really similar to NARS radient concealer but actually a little better) Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless powder (this is really nice to set under the eyes or all over the face) I forgot to include NYX under eye corrector. I think the shade is medium. It's orange. It's all that I use for my dark circles to correct. Its really similar to It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector only a little less shiny. Next up we have blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow. Rimmel Sun Shimmer Maxi Bronzer in Sun Love (it's kinda red based but I love it. I've used it to contour as well.) Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso (this can be found at some CVS but I ordered mine online. This is a popular shade and it's very pretty) Loreal Pressed Pigment Shadows (this color is Amber Rush but I also love Smoldering Plum. They are kinda expensive to be drugstore. Makeup Geek is cheaper but it's only online.) Wet and Wild shadows are really nice as well. I don't have a favorite drugstore highlighter. I haven't found one that I think is great. On to liner and mascara: Loreal Carbon Black Voluminous is my all time favorite. I never run out of it. I always have it in my kit and at my vanity. Loreal Liner Intense liquid liner. I don't use liquid liner much but I do use this to cover up the band of lashes if I need to. Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner. I love this liner. I apply it with a slanted liner brush. Not the brush it comes with. Lastly is lips.
LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss. I don't know if this is in drugstores. I think it is, but not around me. I order mine from Amazon. Super affordable and just all around good liquid lipsticks. Loreal Color Riche Extraordinaire (I'm not sure if that's the entire name) This is a very pigmented gloss. It smell good but can be a little overwhelming. Kim Kardashian used Nude Ballet in her wedding to Kanye. I have that one, Rose Symphony, and Coral Encore. They're very nice quality as long as your ok with the strong perfume smell. Lip products are easy to find in the drugstore. I like the Revlon Jumbo Sticks in the matte formula as well as the Covergirl Jumbo gloss sticks that are more sheer. Maybelline Vivid lipsticks are fantastic for people who want electric and bright colors. I've always loved the Loreal lipsticks in general, even in highschool. Their nude collection in the black packaging are very nice. So that's it. There are tons of other products I've tried and liked. I want you to keep in mind that there is good and bad in every single line. Just because it costs more doesn't mean it's always good, and just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it's crap. Read reviews before trying things or see if you can return something if you don't like it. I know Walgreens has a great return policy. So happy shopping! It's fixing to change seasons and with the change of every season there comes new trends in makeup. Some we kind of expect others are a nice surprising change. This one above is the "strobing" trend. I have an entire post about it and it's not exactly a new trend. It's actually been popular most of the summer but it looks like it's going to keep right on going into fall as well. In the picture above I'm using Champagne Pop from Becca Cosmetics. Other good things to use would be cream or liquid illuminators. You can check out my post on strobing to read more about it. Next trend is "electric eyes" I like to think this can be anything that is colorful, not just blue. Also I feel like colored liner would do good as well if you aren't comfortable wearing blue or colored eye shadow. Some good liners with lots of colors are Urban Decay 24/7 liners. As well as Benefit Push Up liners they have colors that are a little more wearable seeing as how they're darker. Anastasia Beverly Hills offers colors as well in there Creme Waterproof formula. In the above look I'm wearing Stila "sapphire" kajal on the waterline (it's not available anymore unfortunately), Makeup Geek shadows in Poolside and Pegasus. ABH shadow in Blue Velvet. The next trend is pretty much expected. It's berry lips. Which is always wearable for fall. Liquid lipsticks are still very popular and I do really like them for darker colors. This one is Vamp from ABH. Colour Pop and Sephora both have good options that are cheaper. As well as LA Girl Cosmetics and NYX. The picture above and below are the "feathered brows". The one above is still a little bit sculpted, the one below is a bit more feathery. What you're seeing is basically trying to pull away from the sculpted intense brow that we've seen for a while. This is still filled in but it looks a little more natural. I'll have a more in depth post up about this next week, that will include the best products for it and grooming tricks. Until then if you want to try this I recommend to take your time and work with small amounts of product first so that you don't look so sculpted and intense. If you're into these and you enjoy Instagram check out @sephora instagram, especially the #trendingatsephora link. It gives you a good idea of the latest trends and how to do them.
As you know, I love color. It's no secret. It makes me happy. However, there is nothing wrong or more glamorous than a beautiful neutral eye. So this is for those of you who are not sure about color and it makes you uncomfortable. This is going to be a subtle way to introduce some color to your routine. You can't really even see it until you get right up on the eye. I've talked to you before about layering colors or building your shadows. This is one of those situations. You can use a colored base/liner or you can use an eyeshadow. Which ever makes you happy. The color that is underneath all this is a teal shade. I used Ibiza shadow from Colour pop underneath Nillionaire shadow. It gives it an olive tone to the look. You could use a blue eye liner just the same. Another good shadow is Makeup Geek Shark Bait shadow. Anything you want. You don't even have to use teal you can use whatever you want. Orange would be pretty, Violet or Plum is always lovely, just try it out. This is an up close and personal look lol. It's Ibiza then Nillionaire (Golden Brown shimmer), Ex in the crease and Too Soon in the corner all from Colour Pop. MAC Cosmetics Costa Riche liner is in the water line. Lena Lashes Bianca lashes. Anastastia dip brow. Also Colour Pop Trap on the lips.
So during the MADNESS of the Ultra Matte Liquid Lips from Colour Pop, I did manage to get away with the 4 colors I wanted. I love to review things for you guys but I try hard to find colors that I don't have in lipsticks and what not. I don't want to get the same shade of pinks and nudes and peaches time after time. So, like I said, I got 4 shades. Two that are bright and bold and two that are more wearable and trendy. One of which, I did have a color like it already. So I got: Donut Pacific Zipper Trap These are all sold out now unfortunately but they will be restocking them. This picture is Donut. This was the one I was determined to get. I love peachy pink colors, they scream summer to me. It reminds me of Lovely and Retro Coral from ABH. Only because it's not nude its an actual color but not incredibly bright or dark. It's great to have if you want to look like you're wearing lipstick but it's not like "HOLY CRAP SHE IS WEARING NEON PINK". It's similar to Retro Coral just with more pink and not as bright. In the swatches on my hand it's ABH Lovely, CP Donut, ABH Retro Coral This is Pacific. It's straight up bright orange. I didn't have anything like this. I love it, it's supposed to be a dupe for Neon Coral from ABH though so keep that in mind. This is Zipper. It's like a royal purple. I don't have anything like this either. It has no burgundy or red in it what so ever. This is supposed to be a pretty good dupe for Vintage from ABH but I don't have that so I can't tell you if that's true. It's dark but at the same time it's still bright. I'm very excited about this for fall. This is Trap. It's the one I had something similar too. Greige is so popular right now. Every brand seems to have one. I have it in LA Splash the original version of Ghoulish. It's supposed to be similar to Cashmere from Lime Crime as well.
The swatches on the hand is Trap (left) original Ghoulish (right) Out of all of these they went on good. The only one I had a slight problem with was Zipper. It's much darker so getting it even and opaque was kinda hard. I got there though. They are soft on the lip. I actually thought it had wore off when I was wearing one today because my lips felt like nothing was on them but it was still going strong. With a lot of liquid lips you get a very dry feeling and they can crumble. As of right now this hasn't done that. However, if you do several coats of this then it could do that naturally. I ate and drank with one of these on and it didn't move. Some tips are to exfoliate and moisturize the skin. You can use a brush to carve out the lip if the applicator isn't precise as you would want. Use oil to remove it, it can be makeup removing oil, olive oil, whatever oil but that is what you need to take off liquid lipsticks. So that's that. Hopefully they'll be restocked very soon because for $6 this is a steal. I'm just gonna get right into this. There's a ton of new products being released, or are already released that you need to know about! Lots of interesting and down right exciting stuff. So lets hit it. First up the new Limited Edition MAC Fix+ facial sprays. It's always available in classic scent which I love. I think it smells amazing but they're offered some more scents. Most are already sold out online (of course) but stores are your best bet for finding some. They come in scents of: Rose, Lavender, Yuzu, Cucumber, Coconut, and then of course classic which is always available. I would get the Rose and Cucumber if it were me. These are $22 I believe. Colour Pop released Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks on June 25th at 5pm. Holy crap! They sold out needless to say. Which with liquid lipsticks being so popular and with Colour Pop getting a massive recognition and growing fan base (up to 500+k) it was no surprise they would sell out especially only being $6. Yours truly diligently refreshed her browser for an hour and a half to get a few to review for you guys. I got Trap, Donut, Zipper, and Pacific. These will be restocked in due time. Urban Decay is releasing yet another Naked palette. This one is the Naked Smokey palette. It will be released on July 8th I'm not sure if that's online first and then in stores later or both. There are a few reviews out on it already. Samantha from Batalash has one out. I think the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette will be a great palette just like the other ones. I have the other 3 so I will be waiting it out before deciding if I'm going to get it or not. If you don't have any though this is probably the one I would choose. I always wanted them to do a Smokey Palette from the Naked line so I'm glad they did. I believe it's $54. This is exciting! Jaclyn Hill teamed up with Becca Cosmetics and created her own highlighter called Champagne Pop. It's closest resemblance I think is to MAC Whisper of Gilt. It's a Golden Peach. It will be available on July 2nd online exclusively at Sephora at 9am. If you want this you should act fast. Like be sitting by your computer at 9 because I have a feeling it will sell out fast. They've already said that the quantities are very limited. It will be $38. This picture is from Jaclyn Hill Instagram. Anastasia Beverly Hills will be releasing new liquid lipsticks along with some cheek highlighters which is a new area for the brand. They've already been releasing a couple liquid lips here and there with their summer collection and what not but I believe at least 7 will be releasing around July 15th at least some are limited edition though. From Top to Bottom on the Left Paint Dusty Rose Sorbet Top to Bottom on the Right Sepia Trust Issues Veronica There is another red releasing called "Sarafine". The swatch is up on the ABH Instagram. The Illuminators will release in August I believe and there is 4 shades I haven't heard the price though. The picture of the highlighters are from Amrezy's Instagram I believe. Liquid Lipsticks are around $20. The lipsticks are modeled of course by MizzJazminad. Sephora will be releasing some new concealers for the Sephora Collection. They look similar to the Naked Weightless concealers from Urban Decay which is what makes me interested and excited for them. They are gel serum just like the Urban Decay. There are 20 shades and they should be available in July. I don't know the price point yet. ( This pic is from Trend Mood on Instagram and edit was by Cosmo for Latinas) Makeup Geek is releasing some new pigments and shadows (along with highlighters, contours, concealers and foundations possibly this year. Way to go Marlena) they should be released around August as well hopefully. These are edited by Lipstick Junkie Forever on Instagram and came from Marlena's snapchat. They are releasing pigments, shown is three but there are more apparently. They have a duo chrome vibe or hologram vibe (considering one is actually called Hologram) they are what I'm most excited about probably out of all these is these pigments. I can not begin to tell you how much I love duo chromes and pigments. There are also shadows that are specifically a duo chrome line. As with all Makeup Geek products they swatch beautifully and without primer if I was guessing they are this pigmented. This will be the one thing that will be changing the game of eyeshadow I think. Sure there are duo chromes but Makeup Geek hits hard with their stuff and this won't disappoint I'm confident of that.
I got the new Urban Decay lip primer because A) it's supposed to be amazing and 2) I didn't have a lip primer. It's .10oz and $16 at Sephora. So this product is supposed to: Prevent feathering Correct Mistakes Fill in lines Make lip color last for 8hrs. This set of pictures is Testing out the theory of filling in fine lines, anti feathering, and help cleaning up mistakes. I will say that it does prevent feathering and helps the lipstick stay in place and helps correct mistakes during application. This is the true test. I used a lipstick that was just a regular lipstick not matte not extremely creamy. It was Gerard Cosmetics Rodeo Drive. I do like that the lip primer made it look smoother. However as you can see it didn't last 8 hours. Maybe if you didn't eat or drink or let anything touch your mouth it could possible but seeing as how I had to eat that wasn't the case. The 1:48 picture is right after I ate lunch. I drank from a straw and ate popcorn chicken. I re applied my lipstick and didn't eat anything else the rest of the day and at 6pm it was basically all gone. Therefore as far as keeping a regular lipstick on I don't think it's gonna happen. Maybe like a matte lipstick or something you might get longer wear with it. I do really like this I'm not bashing it and I didn't buy it so that my lipstick would "last 8 hrs" I genuinely wanted a lip primer and I like how this works. It's completely clear and it doesn't feel tacky or roll up or crumble it feels fine a little waxy maybe but nothing bad. If you want a lip primer I would look into it. If you don't feel like you need one or don't want it unless it's less than amazing and keeps you lipstick on all day you may want to do some more research. I think you would get 3-4hrs wear tops out of it. I got creative lately. So as makeup is my outlet obviously I done some lip art. Which mostly turned out to be food inspired lol. Neon Melted Ice Cream Cone. Using OCC Liptars in ChaCha, Nylon, and Hoochie. And brown shadows. Candy Kisses. Using OCC Feathered and Poolboy lip liners Memorial Day/ Patriotic Lips. Using occ NSFW lip liner, Pool Boy lip liner, and Feathered. With Violet Voss glitters in Wendy and Teresa. Watermelon Lips using ABH liquid lipstick Sweet Talker and shadows for the green part shaded with black lip liner. Strawberry Lips. Using OCC Harlot liptar and shadow for the leaves. Lollipop lips. Using nyx jumbo stick in milk as a base. Occ lip liners and liptars for the swirls and stick and also some shadows. Last week I received an order from Sephora. They had placed some new stuff in their sale section so as I was getting what I really was meaning to order I took a look at the sale section and seen that the OCC Test Tube 12X Pro Picks set was marked down even more. It was $60 before and marked down yet again to $29. I have a few liptars and since a small amount goes a very long way a test tube which is smaller than a full size product would be plenty of product. I thought this would be a great thing for my kit too. What I like about Liptars are that they were designed to be mixed so you could customize your own color. They're also great for lip art. They come in different formulas such as Matte, Metallic, Stained Gloss and so on. I don't care for the Stained Gloss formula. This set is mostly matte with two metallic shades. It also came with a full size lip brush and I love their lip brush it's the best I have and all I use. You get: Interlace: Matte pale nude peach Zhora: Metallic yellow toned peach with pink shimmer Annika: Matte pale coral Cha Cha: Matte beautiful sherbet orange color Grandma: Matte surprisingly pretty and wearable 50's style coral Vintage: Matte deep red Harlot: Matte MY FAVORITE COLOR bright neon red Nylon: Matte neon hot pink Hoochi: Matte neon medium purple Digitalis: Matte cool toned pale bubblegum pink Sebastian: Matte medium grey Iced: Metallic frosted white I didn't expect to like as many colors in this as I do like I said it was more for my kit. However I'm so beyond impressed. The shades I thought I wouldn't like I love and the shades I thought I'd really like I'm not crazy about.
My favorite colors are: Harlot Cha Cha Grandma Hoochie Vintage Colors I'm not fond of: Zhora Iced Digitalis Interlace The others I've not made up my mind on just yet. I will say that while most of these are matte they don't act like it nor look like it all that much. They tend to stay glossy. Which I don't mind. If you're wanting that though you may want to try this in a store and go from there. Like any product and any line you will get some duds. This is no different. There are some that I feel are a little less quality than the others. All in all though this is a hit. This particular set is no longer available on Sephora but they always have sets out some full sized and some test tube size. Full sized is .33 oz and Test Tube is .08 oz. Remember a little goes a very long way. Full size can be bought individually for $18. I don't believe Test Tubes are available individually only in sets. The other day I seen the LA Girl matte liquid lipsticks. Actually I seen the color Rebel was a good dupe for Dose of Colors Berry Me. So I ordered it off Amazon because LA Girl sells on there too and it's just easier for me to order off Amazon since they have my information. It was around $6 I think. When I got it I noticed how much bigger it was than what I was expecting. It's a little bulky but I actually like that. Especially when you think about how much the price is. So I liked that a lot. It's like a dark cranberry color. The formula is really like a liquid. It's quite thin and runny. It reminds me of LA Splash Lip Couture. I like it a little better though because it doesn't crumble once it dries it kinda stays sticky. Which if you don't like that then you won't like these. . They stay on well. The color goes on even. I'm impressed. I prefer Anastasia Beverly Hills formula more so but for the price I think these are fantastic. |
