This review should've been up before now. However, I needed a different shade in this foundation and I wanted to wait until I found my correct shade before giving this a full review. I just wanted to make sure that the color matched and wasn't "funky" looking on my skin, in case I needed to talk about that in this post. So here we are, the review for the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Liquid Foundation. I was not someone who was interested in the stick form of the Vanish Foundation. I think it was more suited for dry skin types. This one is is better for normal to combo and oily. I have normal-dry skin in my opinion and it works really well for me. I firmly agree with not using a primer underneath and if you are determined then I would suggest using a hydrating primer that acts more like a cream or lotion. For instance, First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie, Bobbi Brown Face Base, my preference is just regular moisturizer or the VDL LumiLayer because it has the texture of lotion or cream. If you really love to use mattifying primers or serums I think this will cling to that. In the last few weeks of me trying it I've noticed that the foundation itself makes the skin appear smoother. So, if you're really into dimethicone and pore filling products, I just don't think the foundation will work as it's supposed to with those products. The shades in the range are very nice I think. You don't have 40 beige colors and 4 tan to deep tones. There's an equal amount of shades in each skin tone. I actually got the wrong shade when I was first trying this which was Shell and it still worked but it just required a little more blending. Beautylish sent me the shade Bisque and it is the perfect match. You get .84 fl oz. The consistency is very thin liquid but it's full coverage in my opinion with a natural nearing on matte finish. It takes very little product to cover the face and I find that it works well with both a kabuki blending brush or beauty sponge. I think Hourglass recommends half a pump and I think that would probably enough but I find that it layers well too if you want just a little more. I have put this through the ringer for weeks now and I've worn it for 9 and 10 hours and it's been absolutely amazing. The finish didn't really change, I didn't get dewy, there was very little disturbance. The blush and bronzer stayed in the same area and the color all day long which doesn't always happen for me. Lately, I've seen a lot of foundations that seem to "eat" your products through the day, make them much darker or a weird undertone comes out, or everything moves around on your face. I didn't have any problems like that with the Vanish Liquid foundation. I took a picture right before I took off my makeup as well as when it was first applied and so far I have no complaints. It hasn't caused my skin any issues or caused any transfer while wearing it. I also don't set it with any type of powder because, as you know, powder is not my jam. I've started being very careful as far as putting both concealer and foundation under the eyes because my eyes crease so easily. So I don't bring foundation up under the eyes, I only use concealer. *The picture above is at the end of the day right before taking my makeup off. With about 7 or 8 hours of wear.*
This foundation gets an A+ from me and I think you'll like it too if you don't have incredibly dry skin. I think it's the best foundation I've seen in years. It beats every foundation I thought was good before and takes the top spot. The price is $56 and I have no problem with the price, because I think it will last quite a while if you're only using half a pump. It's a frosted glass pump packaging. Hourglass is known for putting out high quality products as always. I think in all the products I've had over the years there's only been one products that I've managed to use up so far. This post isn't sponsored but I want to say thanks to Beautylish for sending me my actual shade and getting to me in 2 business days as usual. Beautylish also offers installment payments if you're interested. It automatically charges your card on your account each month. This is both Vegan and Cruelty Free.
