Somehow, someway, I don't know how it happened but I've become a lushie. One minute I was just your average gal appreciating bath products occasionally. Now I'm a full fledged psycho and addicted to their scents. Not all of them but a lot of them. So lets discuss my journey down the rabbit hole of LUSH and what products that I love (so far). I don't have a LUSH store around me, the closest one is in Lexington, KY which is around 3 hours away. I've only visited the store a few times, like a handful of times. I truly didn't understand it because the scent was so overwhelming and I'm very sensitive to some scents especially candy scents. It had been 5 years since I'd visited or ordered from LUSH. Even then the only products I would try was the bath products like bubble bars and bath bombs or bath melts and BIG shampoo. I really felt like things were kinda expensive compared to drugstore shampoo, shower gels, etc. I truly didn't understand LUSH.
Fast forward to the past year where I was fighting insomnia really bad and anxiety and had gotten into mixing and chopping lipsticks to make new lipsticks from press samples that were sent. I became antiquated with the ASMR community and obsessed with watching people chop their LUSH FUN. Which then led to me watching them chop bubble bars. Which then led me to the "lushcocktail" tags and I fell straight down a wormhole of watching people make these elaborate bath cocktails with shower gels, bubble bars, whipped soaps, etc into a little strainer looking thing and taking the most luxurious baths ever. So I went and dug out all my bath products and started looking for bubble bars and bath bombs online. LUSH was really the only company I was familiar with other than a couple indie brands. Before I knew what quality bath products were, I thought LUSH was just not my bag. I liked the bubble bars and the bath bombs but I wasn't into bar soap and I thought their other products were a little pricey. As I started looking on Etsy though, prices were even higher with shipping with the exclusion of a few places. So I waited till the "Boxing Day Sale" which is apparently the only one they do, where everything is buy one get on free. I went through the app on my phone and didn't have an issue. I picked up some products I'd be DYING to play with like the FUN that came out for the holidays, Puddy Holly Bubbleroon, Ectoplasm shower cream, Lush Pud bath bomb, and Yog Nog Yule Log Bubble Bar. When I got my order in I was actually missing a product (Cinders shower gel) and they were so kind and sent me one of the new scents (Avocado Wash) in a bigger size than I had ordered previously. I was so careful about unwrapping everything because I didn't want to waste anything. When I smelt Yog Nog I was hooked. I was so in love with that scent and how well they layered the scents. It's the only company I've seen that can do that. I immediately placed another order where I bought the Shooting Star soaps and the Star Bright bath melts along with Monsters and Aliens Fun. This is where LUSH wins you over. I didn't like the scent of Monsters and Aliens FUN. I hated it, I thought it was so weird. It's the Lord of Misrule scent that is most popular around Halloween I think. I love playing with and using the FUN products though so I was still molding and using it in bath cocktails of my own. Then...gradually I fell in love with the vanilla and peppery scent and now......I have the shower cream and the perfume. I don't know what to tell you. I don't know what kind of magic they put in their products but I'm here for it. One of my latest orders was not necessarily holiday exclusives. I got the Rainbow FUN that I'd been itching to get my hands on! I also got the Experimenter bath bomb, the "six" reusable bubble bar, Milky Bath Bubble Bar, American Cream Naked Shower Gel, and they sent me some samples of fun, and two soaps. My very last order was Honey I Washed the Kids body spray (which is huge) and It's Raining Men shower gel, and Outback Mate Soap. I even got on Lush Kitchen and the LUSH UK site to find things that I couldn't find. Dear Lord I need help. Ebay was filled with boxed gift sets from Christmas of products I hadn't yet tried. It was a real experience. I also noticed that the hardcore "lushies" are collectors of LUSH. They love it so much that it's a full blown collection for them. I like that. I tend to collect skincare and makeup so there we go. So I'm going to list my current LUSH products and tell you what I think about them briefly. Yog Nog Bubble Bar": love this to the point that on one of the many I have, I cut off all the surrounding cream around the bar and mixed it into a shea butter base and it made a really awesome container of body scrub and it works out great putting a dollop on top of a bath cocktail. I'll insert a pic here how I done it. Puddy Holly. I wish I would've gotten more of these. This is like a winter green/spearmint situation with almost and almond or maybe vanilla scent in the middle. I think it would've went great with Lord of Misrule. I love this one. Milky Bath Bubble Bar: I'm not crazy about the scent of this one but I like the product because it pairs so well with anything you want to use it with. 6 Bubble Bar: This is a reusable bubble bar. Where you don't crumble it you just hold it and let water run over it and it creates bubble while not breaking down the bubble bar that much. Then you can lay it on a napkin to let it dry and then use it again for another bath. I think they say you can get about 5 or maybe 6 bubble baths out of this. Festive Friend Fun: I'm not sure what it's supposed to smell like but to me it smells like cherry. The products always looked so much longer in pictures and when I got it, it was quite short. I like it, although I don't use it as much as the others. Monsters and Aliens Fun: I love the colors in this. I love the scent as I said before. I find this one is far less likely to stick to the other pieces and the color doesn't bleed. It's the most solid of all of them and almost a touch more dry. I love it though. Rainbow Fun: This one is the biggest. It has all the colors of the rainbow and each scent smells differently. I LOVE IT. Once again I wasn't loving all of the scents like the blue or the green and the yellow. Now I love them as well. I don't know how they do that! Gold Fun: I had to do some searching for this. This is the stickiest of all the "fun" products I have. It melts super easy. It smells like Honey I washed the Kids which was my first introduction to that and I can't get enough. It's a very very soft dough compared to any that I've tried so far. LUSH Luxury Pud: I don't know if I said that right. I think it's stunning but I gave it to my mom because I couldn't handle the scent. It was too strong and gave me a headache. Shooting Stars Bar Soap: These smell amazing. It's like a fresh citrus zing that will wake you up. The soaps are super soft. Star Bright Bath Melt: Not sure I got that name right either. This is a very cool but kinda messy product. It's covered in silver glitter on the outside so that's gonna get all over you hands. The melt itself is divine and smells so good. It has about 5 different colors inside. So I like to cut it up for what ever color my bath is going to bed. It does great and makes the water shimmer and fragrant. It's a fruity scent as well. Shooting Star Bath Bomb: This is blue with gold glitter star bath melt all around it. It' s in the scent of Honey I Washed the Kids and it's amazingly beautiful. The stars kinda float around on the blue water. Plum Pudding bath melt: This comes with one of those cloths around it to use so that little herbs and leaves don't get in your water. I unwrapped it and cut it in half to use it more than once. It's with the Plum Rain scent family so I'm trying to figure out if I really enjoy that scent. Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb: Not sure about this one. I split it in half, as I do with all my bath bombs. I've seen mixed reviews about this because with jelly bombs it's almost like a film on top of the water and kinda is a pain to clean up. Not to mention that Snow Fairy isn't my fave scent. I'm still gonna try it though. Perle De Sel Bath Bomb: I've heard some people say they really didn't like the scent but I do. It's the "snowcake" scent and it's a stunning color in the bath. The Experimenter Bath Bomb: This thing is crazy. I cut it down the middle and there's like 5 or more colors that come from it. One of the color comes out with a gold shimmer. It smells spicy and I love it. It's huge. So I could probably have used it in 3rd's and been fine but none the less it was amazing. Avocado Wash Shower Gel: lovely. My favorite shower gel because it's a light light fragrance and that's what I'm looking for. Definitely will repurchase. Ectoplasm Shower Cream: Love this as well. It's my second favorite and I think it might even glow in the dark. It's a fresh, wake you up, citrus smell that can't be beat. Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream: This gets a bad rep for turning your bath tub green and your body green. It does make you look green which you're using it but then you wash it off and it's fine. It's not caused any excessive cleaning of staining in my tub. I do notice that I can't really smell it that much when I use it like I can when I smell it from the bottle. Which is a bummer. However it's great if you'd like a lighter scent. It's Raining Men Shower Gel : This is very thin and runny. It's supposed to be Honey I Washed The Kids scent and it does but it's more of a strong honey scent first and then you get the toffee scent behind it. It's almost sickeningly sweet. I don't know if I'd repurchase this one. American Cream Naked Shower Gel: This is interesting. I thought it'd be great for bath cocktails and chopping it up but it melts sooooo quick and it's so sticky that it's very hard to work with and using it in a strainer is about the only way to use it. I hated the scent at first but now I like it. This is the scent I remember most from LUSH. It smells like what I remembered a LUSH store to smell like. Outback Mate Soap: Amazing. The color is gorgeous, the texture is lovely, it's minty with a little kick of I want to think lime behind it? I really love it, but it seems to beautiful to use. I hope that the Dirty Springwash is similar to it. Honey I Washed The Kids Body Spray: This looks like a spray water bottle and I think it's like 6.6 oz. It's pretty strong at first but then it settles down. It doesn't stay on the skin as much as I'd like but it does cling to clothing fairly well. Lord of Misrule Perfume: I wanted this in the Body Spray but I missed out. So after some heavy deliberation about it, I splurged and got it. It's stays on the skin and the body for a very long time. It smells the same as every LOM product that's out. It has the same layered smell. It's not too strong it's just right. I know people call it their "winter scent" and I could see that with the spice and such but I think I could wear it anytime. So that's my current products that I have on hand at the moment. I'm sure I'll be adding more. I really want to try as many shower gels as possible. I also have an unhealthy obsession with bubble bars so I'd like to try some of the new ones that released for Easter/Mother's Day. It's like a whole new world of discovering fun stuff and also makes me much more motivated to take the extra time to practice self care and indulging in colorful bubble baths or luxurious baths.
