Ok, it looks like 2019 is going to hit hard with complexion products. In particular, concealer and foundations. I’m excited because my favorite product, funnily enough is not mascara, it’s foundation. I love a good base product. I’ve already tried 3. Today I’m going to discuss my thoughts and experience with the *new* Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation.

First as with all my reviews I’ll give you the claims first:

A luminous liquid foundation with up to 15 hours of hydration and weightless, medium-to-full coverage, for a perfectly-glowing finish in any light.

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Radiant

Formulation: Liquid

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

This is $48 for 1 oz and comes in 30 shades. I have shade 1W1 Ivory. My skin is more normal than anything right now. It’s not terribly dry, not oily. I exfoliated and used my normal moisturizer before using this. I’ve tried it with both a sponge and my typical flat top angled kabuki. I didn’t use a primer because in general I just don’t use primer.

Ughhhh I hate this photo so much. But here I am giving you all the good angles. I had just exfoliated right before this.

I applied this at 12 pm and it did not go on well. It went on very uneven and even though I had just exfoliated and didn’t notice any texture without makeup, it looked like pigment was just clinging to my pores and like I hadn’t exfoliated in days. I had to wipe it off once and try again. Finally, I just went with it and finished my makeup. To my surprise my bronzer and blush did fine on top of it. The base itself just didn’t look good.

Really good angles....This was after an hour of wearing the product and I felt like it was at a nice point of luminosity but was moving a lot. It did not last.

After this had sat for an hour or two, it started to look better but it was easy to move and was bunching up. It was looking luminous and the texture was less apparent but that only lasted for an hour. I took it off at 6 because I was so oily that I felt slimy. So, I don’t feel like it lasted 6 hours even though I wore it 6 hours. I took a picture with flash right before taking it off and it just showed how it was worn off around the perimeter of the face and how unbelievably oily I looked. It really surprised me because I wear luminous foundations all the time and I don’t look like this. I took pictures at the time of application, in natural light. I took pictures with flash on right before I took it off with no touch ups, because the sun was down, obviously. So, I tried to really document why I didn’t care for this.

Again, just giving you the most unflattering photos possible. *sigh*

With saying all that, I really do love some of Laura Mercier products. I’ve just not had good luck with the foundations so far. I hear that the latest concealer is amazing, and I also enjoy pretty much all of their concealers. The loose powder is a cult favorite, it’s not a favorite of mine but I simply don’t like many loose powders so that’s not on them. I think they have a very nice range and I appreciate how many shades they released and the fact that they don’t drop something new every 2 days like we’ve seen. They release products on their own timeline, and I love that. So, this is nothing against the brand as a whole, I just do not like this product. I personally would not recommend it to any skin type based on how it applied and wore on myself. It won’t discourage me from trying their products in the future though. If you still want to try it then I recommend getting a sample from Sephora.
