New Product Releases and Spring 2016 Launches

1/14/2016

Well kids most of the mother load has hit. There is a TON of new products that are out now at Sephora. With more on the way by the end of this month. I've compiled a pretty hefty list of the ones I think are interesting. That's not even including the ones that I'm not personally excited about. So we're gonna get into these, some of them I don't have much information on and others I know a little bit about.

Lets hit this by category instead of brands. I think that would be easier.

First category in bases. Meaning foundation, concealers, primers, so on.
  • Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation $44. This is 8 shades and the shades are not necessarily geared toward light-dark complexions. It's geared toward how your skin reacts to the sun (whether you burn easily or tan easily) which is actually a cool flexible concept. It's light coverage but buildable coverage. It's a dropper bottle so that makes me think it'll be much like the consistency of serum and such. It's 1 ounce of product.
  • Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Fluid Foundation $65. 8 shades and .68 ounces. This looks incredibly similar to the new Becca Aqua foundation only this isn't new. It's new to Sephora but not new in general. This also is a dropper bottle and only buildable coverage. This is serum like but "free of water" so though it's thin it's not part water. I would get the Becca one personally because you pay less for more and basically they seem very very similar from finish-formula. Kevyn Aucoin has basically expanded their line in Sephora. Sephora holds 29 of their products around 12 or 13 of those being added just recently.
  • Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup $50. This has 15 shades and 1 ounce. They no longer offer the Dior Skin Star foundation that everyone and their uncle has and I don't know if this is a reboot, reformulated or what, but it's the same packaging but a different name. The formula is described "luminous matte" and with a "poreless effect". I can't say as I cared for the original Diorskin Star foundation, it oxidized very much on me and was incredibly dewy. I think this looks interesting though.
  • Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Extreme Perfection & Hold Makeup Base (I hate these long names ) $45 and 1 ounce. This is basically the primer for the previous Forever foundation. I'm not sure I would get both cause that's almost $100 but if it worked then it may be worth it. I think it's interesting they released a foundation with it's own special primer for it.
  • Makeup Forever Ultra HD concealers $27. 10 shades. I have an entire review on this.
  • Sephora Bright Future Serum Correctors $14. 5 shades. Same review as the MUFE concealers.
  • Becca also just released correctors. Blacklight Targeted Colour Corrector. $30 and 4 shades. These are not in the same category as the Under Eye Brightener. This is a highly pigmented color corrector with light reflecting pearls that give a subtle glow to the skin. They offer Peach (peach), Papaya (reddish orange), Pistachio (green), and Violet (lavender). I feel like these are targeted more so for the face whether it's dark spots, dullness, redness or whatever. Where the Under Eye Brightener is specifically for under the eye.

This category will be cheek products and powders.
  • Kat Von D Two Tone Blushes $25. 7 shades. Now these look cool and I will try them, They are two different shades of blush in each compact. They have a dark shade and a bright shade. The dark shade helps contour the cheek more and the bright shade goes on top and higher on the cheek to highlight it and bring out your cheekbones. They are matte finish and made to work with the Shade+Light Contour palette specifically. They are named adorably after famous duos ie: Morticia and Gomez, Hansel and Gretel, Sampson and Delilah, etc. These are already selling out. So I have a feeling they're gonna be a hot item.
  • Hourglass Strobe Powders $38. 4 shades and .16 ounces. Basically these are described to be a more sheer form of the Ambient powders and quite a bit smaller. I'm not sure if I would get this because of the size. I want to wait till I can see it or some reviews at least. If it's just a lighter version of a highlighter then I think I'll pass. It's an interesting concept none the less.
  • Too Faced Candlelight Glow and Highlight $30. This has two shades one more pink and one more warm. Each compact as two colors in it and it's using a new technology called "Photolite" which "diffuses harsh light giving you a soft youthful luminosity." So I'm seeing this trend a lot, no more super intense highlights and sparkly highlights with glitter flecks, but more things that resemble the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Highlight 01. Which is a nice change because these formulas will work better with all ages and skin textures. I think this is really cool. I kinda wish it wasn't a duo but still it's very interesting and might be something I get.
  • Tarte Chiseling Charmers Contour Set, $24. This comes with a mini cream contour stick in Park Ave Princess, mini Cream highlight in Champagne, and a mini Contour brush. I find this interesting because of the brush. Everyone seems to really like this brush and I think this is a great set. Plus I already know that I like the cream contour sticks.

Next lets move onto eyes and brows.
  • Tarte Tartelette Tease palette $21. This has 6 shades. It's the travel version of the original Tartelette palette. It looks to have 2 shimmers and 4 mattes. I think this is a really nice palette. I'd be more apt to buy this than say a Naked Basics palette.
  • Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow palette, $45. This has 12 shades like the other Tartelette palettes we're seeing. It has 9 mattes and 3 lusters all being brand new shades. It looks very warm toned and berry colored. I like the look of this one more than the others so far.
  • Smashbox Brow Tech Shaping Powder, $25. 4 shades. This is odd. It's either going to be a big hit or a big disaster. It's a loose powder in what looks to me like a liquid liner bottle and applicator. The applicator is supposed to "mimic brow hairs" with a powder that lasts all day. I've seen swatches and it does seem to be very pigmented. I think this could easily be a mess though.
  • Anastasia Brow Definer, $23.  This has 9 shades on Sephora but I think there is actually 10 shades on the ABH website. Don't quote me on that though. I have a whole review on this but bottom line IT'S BOMB. I love it, can't live without it, and it's better than the brow wiz because you have more options of how you use it along with more control.
There are obviously more eye products out that are new but these are the ones that caught my eye.

Last lets talk about lip products.
  • Tarte Tarteist Lip Paints, $20. There are 14 shades, one of those being exclusive to VIB Rouge members first. I have Namaste which is the pinky nude shade. Lots of people have been talking about it. I really like it and this formula. My only fault is that it looks like it covers good and it's very comfortable to wear not drying what so ever, but as the day goes one it seem to not "wear off" like normal things do but rather break apart in areas. I'm not sure how to explain it, I'm gonna use it some more and do an entire review on it.
  • Too Faced Melted Chocolate, $21. There are 6 shades and they are all infused with cocoa powder thus they smell like chocolate. These shades are from the Melted and Melted Metal Liquified lines but revamped with the cocoa powder. Naturally these are all in the same brown, warm browns, red browns, color family.
  • Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip set, $28. There are 6 different products and brands in this set. I love these sets from Sephora. This offers Nude Stix Whisper, Tarte Lip Paint in Namaste, NARs Dolce Vita, Laura Mercier Milky Way lipstick, Marc Jacobs lip liner in Prim (Rose). The lip liner and Tarte lip paint are the mini's in this and I think the rest are all full sized, which if that is the case, this is a killer deal and I would jump on it.
  • Smashbox Insta-matte Lip Transformer, $24. Basically this is a gel formula that creates a matte finish on any lipstick you use. This is a dream for those of you who love matte finishes. If it actually works, and I hope it does, that would be really cool. Glam Glow has also released something similar for the same price as well. I will say though that I'm a bit old school and anytime I want a more matte finish I just dab some powder over my lips very lightly until they look matte. If these prolong the wear of the lipstick though that would be amazing, which they do claim to do.
Again obviously there are a ton of new products out for lips. Glam Glo has released several new lip products to their line. These are just the ones that I thought were worth mentioning.

There is a 10% off code out not for VIB and VIB Rouge members that last's until the 11th of February. I don't know if all the codes are the same but try googling it and see. You should receive one in the mail though, I would think.
