*NEW* Riviera Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills

​Here we are with another new release from Anastasia Beverly Hills. Just in time for Spring. You know that I love ABH and I love their products. I bought this palette myself from ABH. It's been a long time since I've seen a palette and thought "I have to get that ". This is one of those times

The palette is layed out the same as the rest 14 pans, brush slot with a double ended brush, same palette size as the others. The outside packaging is different. The last palettes have always had a suede/velvet-y feeling fabric on the front. This one is a  nautical striped canvas that reminds me of  a striped tote bag that you'd take to the beach. I think it's perfect for the spring/summer vibe that the colors inside give me. Officially the theme is "paradise", which is spot on

There are 14 shades as usual, 3 are matte pressed pigments, 5 matte shades, 4 metallic shades, and 2 duo chromes. This is a mixture of bright shades which is what you will undoubtedly see first when you look at. However, when you look past the 3 or 4 colors that aren't neutral you'll see that it's actually got a lot of neutral everyday or glam shades. I think sometimes people just see those pops of colors first in any palette and it's very intimidating and then you don't see what'd around it. When in actuality it's got a ton of options. You can go neutral, glam, colorful, metallic, or whatever you want. It's a breath of fresh air seeing this palette and not some 35 pan palette with different shades and undertones of bronze and brown.

​The look I did was using a lot of brighter shades and pressed pigments in the crease to see how they done blending. I used Mediterranean on the lid because it's such a different shade that I don't really have or would wear that much. The inner corner is using the gorgeous metallic pink "Palermo" on the inner corner and inner lower lash line. Then I used the peach shades on the lower lash line to smoke it out. Grey gel liner for the wing and a pink liquid liner for the graphic "half moon" line. Everything went smoothly. It was easy to blend and layer which made it a lot of fun to play with and I think that's something that's been lacking from a lot of makeup lately especially palettes. When you get aggravated putting stuff on or it's not looking like it does in the pan, etc. it's not an enjoyable experience no matter what it is. When it's something like this palette that both looks stunning in the pan and on the eye it's fun to work with and use. It get's your inspiration going. You feel bold and tempted to step out of your comfort zone and that's what I love about ABH and their artists, they're good at getting people to try something that's just slightly out of the normal, everyday look.

As far as how this performs it does beautifully. I tested it with the brush it came with actually and it was wonderful. The dark brown "palm" which is a pressed pigment had no fall out when I put it on the lid and blended in about 3 seconds. The metallic shades were so intense, I applied them with my finger without primer or a wet brush. I normally apply metallics or foiled pigments with my finger anyway but these pack on beautifully. I was using my finger to apply Mediterranean and there was a few flakes that fell down. Nothing too crazy. I always do my eye makeup before foundation no matter what it is therefore I never get too bothered by fall out. This blends really effortlessly and quick. It also doesn't muddy together or look like the same color on the entire lid that you sometimes get with super soft formulas after you've blended or after you've been wearing your makeup for a few hours.

With ABH palettes, the lay out for nearly all of them, they kind of group the pans together to make it easier to choose colors that will look very well together. I personally pay no attention to it but it is helpful when you aren't used to certain bright colors or you don't know what to do with a color that isn't the norm. I'm also including a picture of the brighter shades blocked out so that you can see what the other shades truly look like and see that it has a ton of neutral and everyday options as well. Truthfully, it really is hard to sometimes see what else is in a palette when you have such eye catching bright shades. So I think this will really help show you the more subtle options you have. 

The swatches are without primer as always and done with my finger. I don't really like swatches because they don't give you a lot of information thanks to difference in skin tone and preferred method of application, etc but some of you love them and I'm happy to oblige. I will say that seeing the metallic swatches in motion are far more helpful to get an idea of the chromes and sparkle that they have.

I think my thoughts are pretty clear. I love the palette. I think it performs differently from Subculture and slightly softer than Modern Renaissance. The color options are my what do it for me. It's just flat out stunning and inspiring.
