Hello friends, fam, readers....I must apologize for my serious lack of blog posts this month. It has been a month that felt like a year and busy busy busy. Which is not an excuse merely an explanation as to where I've been. I've had birthday parties, big wedding of a best friend, health issues, etc. However, here we are kicking off July with a blog post about some new skincare products and I'm happy to do so.
We will be discussing the new Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C Collection. "Potent-C™ unleashes the strength of powerful antioxidants and THD Ascorbate, a mega-potent gold standard Vitamin C that is 50 X more powerful than traditional Vitamin C." THD Acsorbate is a "new ingredient" and "ultra stable". the products are combined with a number of different antioxidants and effective ingredients to make this just as it says......potent but also gentle (at least in my case). THD Ascorbate is: "Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate". It is lipid soluble which means it will penetrate better into the skin, because being "lipid soluble" means that it can dissolve in fatty tissue, fats and oils. A lot of Vitamin C I see on the market is "water soluble" and, depending on the delivery system, could mean it won't do as good getting past the lipid barrier but this being lipid soluble means it's more likely to not just penetrate the epidermis but also the dermis which is directly underneath.
So I've been testing the: "Potent-C™ Power Serum unleashes the strength of THD Ascorbate, an ultra-stable scientific breakthrough form of Vitamin C that is 50 X more powerful than traditional Vitamin C. Packed with a jaw-dropping concentration of 20% THD Ascorbate, the serum’s efficacy is amplified by the addition of two ultra- powerful antioxidants (3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid), delivering a complete and advanced anti-aging, fi rming and brightening treatment. This rich moisturizing serum is a must to help improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles, firmness, uneven skin tone, texture and brightness. Fragrance-free and non-irritating." "Potent-C™ Targeted Spot Brightener unleashes the strength of powerful antioxidants and THD Ascorbate, an ultra-stable scientific breakthrough form of Vitamin C that is 50 X more powerful than traditional Vitamin C. Packed with a concentration of 10% THD Ascorbate, this potent spot brightener is amplified by 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid, providing powerful antioxidant benefits. Gwennis and Angelys help reduce and brighten the look of dark spots by up to 75%*, while Aloe and Allantoin help soothe the appearance of skin." "Potent-C™ Power Eye Cream unleashes the strength of powerful antioxidants and THD Ascorbate, an ultra-stable scientific breakthrough form of Vitamin C that is 50 X more powerful than traditional Vitamin C. Packed with a concentration of 10% THD Ascorbate, this hydrating eye cream is amplified by 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid, providing powerful antioxidant benefits. Caffeine, Hyaluronic Acid and 3% Phyco’derm® help improve the look of dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet, instantly and over time. Filmexel® acts like a second skin to help protect the delicate eye area." Let's start with the Serum first. I use this serum at night. With an Vitamin C over 15% I can usually feel a tingle or get some sensitivity while I'm getting used to it. Not this one. It's 20% Vitamin C and then Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid as well, it was very nice. I have normal skin, it's not super sensitive and rarely reacts so I had no issues with this. I felt my complexion was so much more radiant and even once I started using this. I got compliments just this past weekend that "your skin is so glowy". To someone who is a skincare fanatic, that is music to my ears. I knew it was this collection though because that's what I was testing and had been for weeks. I had no tingling, I also didn't get any orange oxidation on my hands that you can sometimes get with antioxidants and vitamin c. The formula itself is extremely light and penetrates the skin very well, so there is no "balling up" or anything. It hydrates the skin therefore making it easy to layer because it doesn't just sit on top of the skin. In my routine I use this after cleansing and toner, because it is extremely light and doesn't have to have time to sink in before adding other products on top. So this layers perfectly in my opinion, and if you're like me and appreciate having quite a few steps in your routine, I think you'd love this. Even if you just need a very nice Vitamin C serum that's effective and you don't want to do a bunch of steps, I think you'd still enjoy it. It doesn't just provide Vitamin C benefits, it has hydration and supports the system and health of your skin in more ways than just being an antioxidant for you. So either way, I think it's a beneficial product. I think it's innovative, and if you're in the market for a stronger Vitamin C this is something I would recommend. The spot treatment also has the THD Ascorbate, it helps brighten dark spots, I have one area of pigmentation and I used this on consistently. My face as a whole is brighter from the collection but I can see a difference in the fact that it's lighter. Is it gone? No. The sun brings it out more and so in the summer obviously I'm outside more, therefore it's more prominent. The fact is this makes it much easier to cover. It's a small area so it's not something that really bothers me even if it does show through, I'm just letting you know that yea this did help. It has Aloe and Allantoin that are going to make this stronger spot treatment less irritating. I had no irritation with it. I think everyone knows the benefits of Aloe especially that it's soothing but Allantoin is a powerhouse in itself. It helps heal the skin, stimulates cellular turnover, softens, shields all while soothing the skin as well. So I approve. The eye cream is actually the one that surprised me in a good way. Like I said I've been testing this for a while as I do all skincare. I came off the heels of testing a separate eye cream that was also heavy with the antioxidants. I loved the previous one and was kinda weary about switching it up to use this one but I was so pleasantly surprised. I'm gonna put it like this: this helped my eye area in a way that it was so much more hydrated and brighter that it lessened my need for corrector on most days and not a lot of concealer either. I'm very happy to see antioxidants especially Vitamin C in eye creams, it's actually not done on this level very much at all. This also has Filmexel® that acts like a barrier to help protect the eye area while the other actives work to hydrate, brighten, strengthen and so on. It's in a pump packaging which I also greatly appreciate. The main thing I take away from this collection is that they have packed it full of everything that can and will help your skin. Not just packing it full to make it look special and different they've put in ingredients that work well with each other, compliment each other, and protect while the rest go to work on your skin. They soothe while also delivering results. They hydrate while they brighten. It's something that I think Peter Thomas Roth as a whole is very good at doing in their products. They don't "dress up" a product with useless stuff, it's for a reason and they've already thought of benefits they can add to a product to help your skin before you can even think of it. In other words they kinda take the "guess work" out of a routine. I was sent these, but I totally would and will buy them again. They're available at Sephora right now. *This post was Powered by Brandbacker*
