Here lately, I've seen quite an influx of "oxygenating" products on the market from creams to serums and facials. The facials have been around for a while. Becoming most popular in the states around 2006 thanks to celebs really loving their instant effect and now oxygen facials are a standard step in spa treatments and also for red carpets, award shows, events, etc.
Those facials are done with a big machine that acts like a power spray and forces oxygen and some serums/moisturizers (if that's what they use) possibly into the skin. The effect is temporary but it's very beneficial for cellular turnover and replenishing the skin and letting the skin heal itself. Much faster than it would normally, that is. The benefits are smoother, softer, less visible wrinkles and fine lines, brightens dull skin, radiant effect, over all a more smooth canvas and youthful look. Which is why they would be ideal for these big events. It became so popular because there was very little chance of a reaction and no bad side effects from it like there would be from peels or harsh microdermabrasion, but you're still leaving with smoother, more youthful and radiant skin for the moment. Which is the whole point.
In a spa they would exfoliate the skin first to rid it of excess oils and dirt. They would then do a facial steam I assume to help decongest and open the pores and then go in with an oxygen machine and treatment. However overuse of those oxygen facials could actually backfire on you and introduce free radicals into the skin which can cause premature aging and wrinkles, I would assume because of the high pressure it's delivered in. Very very sensitive or damaged skin could experience redness during a treatment but it would go away very quickly. A major bonus to these facials are that generally they are less expensive than botox or fillers. So I was sent this product by Exuviance to try out. You know I love Exuviance. Exuviance and Neostrata are my one stop shops for skincare as far as brands that I trust with my skin. I use their products nearly everyday. So this is the Bionic Oxygen Facial. It's a triple threat because it's a triple oxygenating blend. It has the patented Bionic Complex in it which promotes extra youthful benefits to the skin on it's own. The oxygen in this is an "infusion of molecular oxygen" to detox the skin, get rid of dullness, optimize collagen and promote cellular energy, so the skin will heal itself faster I presume. Make note, that this in no way makes it ok not to do normal skincare routines that you are doing. This is to be added to those routines a few times a week or when necessary. This has pure essential oxygen. The way this works is you pump out a generous amount, I think that works the best, and rub in circular motions onto damp skin (damp skin tends to allow products to penetrate the pores deeper than dry skin in my opinion). This will bubble up and it feels kinda weird, I won't lie, but it's not uncomfortable by any means, it just feels like bubbles. It will turn white and then it will vanish, you leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse and finish your routine. It's marketed as a "quick fix" especially for stressed skin which I appreciate that honesty so much from them. So it's only going to be temporary results but the idea behind it is instead of going to a spa or facialist, you can now do this at home for a pick me up, to help stressed/tired skin (I'm going to use this so much during Halloween season and all my makeup looks), or if you have an event that you want to look your best for. Which I think is brilliant. I mean we buy masks, that more or less are temporary fixes and more of a "pamper" because lets face it some of our masks are just fun and not super beneficial. So I feel like this is really raising the bar some. With masks you usually are advised to use them once a week maybe twice. With this you can use it 3-4 times a week. Per usual I'm going to insert some of the claims from the company: "Enjoy a fun, foaming DIY spa treatment at home with Bionic Oxygen Facial. Oxygen has long been known as a pre-event treatment for savvy beauty enthusiasts, so whether you’re hitting the red carpet or just a night out with friends, treat yourself to the power of oxygen at home. Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial is a quick fix for stressed skin, delivering a spa-quality treatment at home. The triple oxygenating blend works to restore radiance and brighten skin. Our Bionic Complex adds extra youth-promoting benefits, restoring a translucent radiance, suppleness and smooth silky softness to your complexion. A single use of Bionic Oxygen Facial envelops skin in a delightful oxygenating experience, revealing skin that looks and feels revitalized, refreshed, transformed." My experience with this has been lovely. I've been using it for about a month and it has caused no issues. It's such a quick treatment and I love that. I almost always use it on #selfcaresunday when I'm doing my extra treatments for the skin. I've deinfinitely used it on sensitive and stressed skin and it was very refreshing and felt lovely. Has a very light scent to it. I would most certainly use this when my skin is unhappy or if I have something I need to look my absolute best for. I can honestly say I would probably never bother with a salon/spa "oxygen facial" because of this. I'd much rather do it myself. So they get an A from me. I've not seen any "treatments" out like this, only creams or cleansers or things that have oxygen in them but no actual " at home facial" products. So while oxygen facials have been around for a little over a decade, they just seemed so untouchable for regular skincare lovers unless you went to a spa. This has made it much more accessible. Good job Exuviance, as always. You can get yours on: http://www.exuviance.com/ for $65 3.2 oz. **This Post was Powered by Brandbacker**
