Exuviance has, yet again, produced a product that I absolutely love. I can't say that about many brands at all. I tend to critique products quite heavily I'm told. I've worked with them several times on A LOT of products. Recently just worked with the "mother ship" NeoStrata who basically through the curve ball ( or hit the grand slam, whatever analogy suits you) at the anti aging game when they discovered Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid and their benefits for the skin. So Exuviance is one of the many "branches" or "offspring" from NeoStrata and it lives up to NeoStrata's amazing reputation. Always has, and I believe it always will.
Now that I'm done fan girling.....if you've not been introduced to Exuviance allow me to do the honor:
"Exuviance® skin care is clinically proven to reduce lines and wrinkles, increase firmness, smooth texture and even skin tone with a patented bionic blend of highly evolved Polyhydroxy and Alpha Hydroxy acids. Discover dermatologist developed skin care that has perfected the science of skin transformation by delivering full-strength anti-aging benefits without irritation." "EXUVIANCE® is created by Drs. Van Scott and Yu, widely recognized as leaders in the field of cosmetic dermatology. They discovered the antiaging benefits of Glycolic Acid and created and patented the first Glycolic Peel. Since their ground-breaking discovery, the creators of Exuviance have continued to develop many new patented antiaging ingredients backed by evidence from numerous scientific and clinical studies. Recognized around the world, Exuviance formulas are expertly developed to visibly transform skin by combining their patented innovations with the best, state of the art technologies available in dermatology today." They're products are definitely "professional grade" in my opinion. Often times you notice that very quickly because of the results and because of how the products feel on the skin. So some of these treatments are a bit advanced in what they do and how they perform for your skin. This product is no different: "Exuviance Triple Micordermabrasion Face Polish masters a triple action approach to skin renewal in a single yet powerful treatment with a unique blend of physical, chemical and enzyme rejuvenators. " "Contains pure professional grade crystals used by dermatologists to smooth skin. Feel this potent exfoliator working as Papaya Enzyme and Glycolic Acid help dissolve impurities that contribute to congested pores, and loosen dead skin cells and dull and dry patches, polishing skin to a gorgeous silky softness and glow. With consistent exfoliation, once or twice a week, skin will be clearer, brighter with reduced appearance of pores and dark spots. Regular use helps increase the performance of your cosmetic treatment products. For best results, complete your facial with an Exuviance concentrated serum or anti-aging moisturizer." What I feel is interesting is that Papaya Enzyme is included, which I'm seeing a lot lately in skincare. For good reason. Papaya has an enzyme called Papain which can repair aging skin, known for "skin lightening", exfoliating dead skin (explains why it's in this), and is said to help with unwanted hair. So while that's all good and great, Papaya itself is a source of Vitamin C, A, and E. It also has "pantothenic acid, folate, magnesium and potassium". So it's like a super food/fruit. To specifically focus on it's anti aging benefits: the "papain enzyme reduces wrinkles by modulating the collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis". There's an interesting article about it on Dermatocare.com. Of course this is going to have Glycolic Acid in it. I mean when the founders of the company were the ones that discovered Glycolic Acid and it's useful attributes for skin then it only makes sense that it would be in most of their products that house acids. Not only that but Glycolic Acid is proven to be the most effective AHA that is out because of how small the molecules are and how deep they can penetrate the skin while the other AHA's can't really do that. If you've been reading my blog for a while I hope to God you now know what Glycolic Acid does. In case you're new, I will hit the high notes for you. Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It is an exfoliator of the skin because it loosens up those dead skin cells and allows the skin discard them easily and without a traditional exfoliating scrub. As I said before it's the smallest molecules and penetrates the skin deeper thus allowing it to fight clogged pores, black heads, and breakouts. It's used in lots of skincare but especially Anti Aging and Acne treatments as well. Since it's an exfoliator it has a smoothing effect to texture on the skin but also a smoothing effect due to the effect it has on wrinkles. It also helps with the look of hyper pigmentation and sun damage. *Fun fact: Glycolic Acid resurfacing pads are good to reduce redness and inflammation when you have a pesky pimple. It kind of neutralizes it when you do a buffing motion over the skin and actually makes it heal faster and makes it less noticeable due to the fact that it helps with the redness and inflammation.** Learned that from Caroline Hirons. Although, a lot of companies tell you to avoid those areas. (Your call on that one.) So we've discussed the two main ingredients, we've established that this is in fact a scrub, kind of, as well with the crystals in it. So you would think that you use this like normal scrubs. Oh no my friend, no no no no no. "How to use: Once or twice a week, apply a thin even layer to a clean wet face, lightly massaging in a circular motion for 30 seconds, avoiding eye area. Do not scrub. Leave on for up to 2 minutes (up to 1 minute for sensitive skin). Thoroughly rinse with warm water and gently pat dry. Follow with an Exuviance serum and moisturizer." So to be clear the Papaya Enzyme and the Glycolic is working on a different level of exfoliating and smoothing the skin. The crystals are "polishing" the skin by their abrasive nature. I definitely follow the rules with this and I'm very careful not to rub or "massage" to hard, and actually "scrub" like a traditional scrub. Mainly because when dealing with Glycolic Acid I don't play around with it like I do everything else. A lot of times that can do more harm than good because sometimes more isn't more. So FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, for those of you in the back that couldn't hear it to well. My experience with this was, as always, kind of surprising on how well it worked and how different it performed to their other products. I feel like I test so much skin care, especially acids, that I think my skin is accustomed to it and I won't get that "tingle" effect. Per usual I'm proven wrong because I definitely felt this, I did leave it on for the full 2 minutes because I do use AHA's everyday, morning and night. What I noticed the most was that it made my skin so much brighter. That was my first impression. Which who doesn't want to look like they're glowing? Am I right? The skin which I felt was pretty smooth to begin with was even smoother but not irritated or red in the least. I definitely felt the tingle when it was on but is dissipated pretty quickly, after about 30 seconds I would say. I use it once a week. I think it's a fantastic treatment to have if you need an addition to your already regimented skin care routine, even if you're used to acids but you still think there could be room for improvement. I also think it's a pretty good introduction into using an acid seeing as this can be used once or twice a week and not everyday. So you could start with once a week and see how your skin handles it. So if you need some recommendations I love their: Exuviance Super Retinol Concentrate Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 Exuviance Overnight Recovery Masque Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel Also their night treatments are 20% off right now, so the first three I listed are all considered "night treatments" and you would get 20% off of those and I'm assuming still qualify for a free full size Triple Micordermabrasion Face Polish, which like stated above is $72 on it's own. So utilize the sale guys and get the best bang for your buck. I've said it before and I'll say it again NeoStrata and their brands like Exuviance are where I put my skincare faith in. Other companies I tend to question but I don't question NeoStrata and their brands. There is no other company on the market that I would have that much blind faith in and it's the first place I would start to really get a handle on your skincare and have a good routine. As always, invest in your skin guys. This skin is all you have and you can buy all the makeup in the world but if your skin looks like crap, then quite frankly so will your makeup. So invest in your skin and then most makeup that has a good quality to it whether expensive or not will look fantastic on you. **This post was Powered by BrandBacker**
