We talk about a lot of stuff on here. A lot of reviews. I rarely take you thru my tricks/shortcuts. Recently I got to use a new brush set and contour kit sent from The Vanity Planet. The brush set is a 15 piece brush set, cruelty free with Premium Synthetic Bristles, wooden handles of Brichwood and very light weight.
Here's a description from the company about the quality of the Bristles: "Made with Premium Synthetic Bristles, the brushes have a silky soft feel and are cruelty free. This particular material is not highly absorbent, so it’s great for applying cream and liquid-based products, as it allows for precise, smooth, and streak-free application"

Sephora's Spring VIB Sale is coming up. So per usual I'd like to provide you with a buying guide of things I think would be good choices to pick up. I prefer to buy more expensive items during these sales to take the sting off the price a little bit. Keep in mind you can return stuff to Sephora even if you've used it, they have a wonderful return possibility. It's also a great time to pick up things you use constantly or that you know you love and will use. These are the only sales that I actually "plan out" to get the most bang for your buck and to buy smart and use it to your advantage. I feel like skincare is the biggest expense and also the bigger concern so I prefer buying skincare during these. So I will have a skincare suggestions list, and a makeup suggestions list, and some honorable mentions at the end. Starting with skincare, I like buying value sets. You get to try more stuff for a better price and for things you aren't positive if you'll like, you get to sample it first kinda. Skincare Suggestions:
Also it's a great time to buy skincare tools. I recommend the PMD Personal Micro-dermabrasion set, a Clarisonic, or a Foreo Luna. All of those especially the cleansing devices make a huge difference in your skin and hardly ever need to be replaced. Makeup is often times more exciting and fun for people. I felt the very same way. Where I like to buy skincare sets in these sales I don't like to buy makeup sets because I'd rather buy full size of something I know I'd use. I generally go for foundation, which is what I will do this time as well. A nice eye shadow palette, not gimmicky. Something that blends beautifully and gets the job done. I often buy palettes a lot come to think of it. I also buy stuff that I use constantly that I need to stock up on.
Makeup Suggestions:
So for some honorable mentions: Brush sets, especially the Natasha Denona one. Dyson Hair Dryer that is ridiculously expensive. Too Faced Natural Love Ultimate Neutral Eye Shadow Palette. Lots of neutrals and in matte and shimmer formulas. Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector Pressed Primers, ie: Smashbox, Hourglass Veil, Dr Brandt Pore Minimizing, Becca Ever Matte. MUFE Star Lit loose powders Stila Magnificent Metal Glitters Dr. Jart Ceramidin Moisturizer If you wanted to try LaMer now would be a good time but so far I don't care for much of it but they do have some sets available. So those are just some things that I suggest. Of course it's not the Gospel people, you're free to buy whatever you want. **I hear that the sale is the 7th of April but I haven't had that confirmed and usually the spring sale is 10%-15% depending on what tier your on with the Beauty Insider** Valentines Day is next week. I love Valentines Day. Always have. I just think it's a celebration of love and I've always liked it. I don't think it's exclusive to couples though. I love to give Valentines Day gifts to my friends, I always get Valentines gifts for my mom and I just think it's a good time to show people you love them or that you're thinking of them. So if you want to for go the standard Valentines Day gifts like flowers (I love flowers though), candy (love that too), and fancy date nights (I prefer my sweat pants in all honesty). I thought I'd give you a list of some good gifts that your loved ones may like. It's not going to be all beauty related either. Nope I'm gonna go the extra mile for you here. I don't recommend buying perfumes for people unless you know they already love that particular perfume. So I won't be recommending any certain perfume or cologne. However, it is a nice gift if you know that they already like it. It's also an easy gift. Honestly, my go to gift idea is a "gift basket" type situation. You can ask my husband, my friends, my family, I always give multiple gifts instead of one big item. I just like that. I like recieving stuff like that and I like giving gifts like that because you're bound to have more hits than misses in there. Now I will say the first rule is pay attention to what this person likes and doesn't but you should know to do that already. So here's my gift basket contents:
Other good gift Ideas I think are: Flowers that last for a year. These are by Venus Et Fleur. If they love flowers, then these are worth the investment. I myself would LOVE these. You can curtail it to your budget as well. They can be super pricey or you can get less expensive options. I love how they're displayed. They aren't in vases, I think they're so chic and beautiful. You can even chose rainbow roses. I love that. Edible Arrangements are also very very good. If you're close to one, or can pick them up. I sent some to my friend last year for Valentines Day. They always look cool and they taste amazing. There is also a coupon code going on right now on their site. $10 of $39+ CODE: "SAVE3966" A spa day would be nice where they could do a massage, mani, pedi and so on. Especially if it could be a "girls day". That's always fun. So those are my thoughts on good gifts. I'm going to leave so options below of some cool sets that are out right now, some neat jewelry I've seen and so on that I think would be lovely to have. Happy Valentines Day! These are some pieces of jewelry from the Kate Spade Surprise Sale which is up to 75% off. They aren't super expensive, but I always love their stuff. It holds up really well and it's not crazy expensive. I also think Alex and Ani bracelets are super cute. They can be layered and they are simple. I love "value sets". I added in some less expensive options for the gift basket idea, as well as some kinda pricey items if you'd rather get one nicer gift.
Ok guys I wanted to get this post up now, but there will be a more in depth post later and possibly one showing the rest of my watches that I have cause I love watches. However, Jord Watches recently was so kind to send me one of their wood watches. Safe to say I'm in love and actually my husband loves it as well. They have womens watches and mens watches each one is beautiful with several different styles to choose from like: square face, larger boyfriend face, etc. They are offering a giveaway for $100 e gift card code to 1 of my readers/followers but anyone who enters gets a $25 e gift code to use regardless. So enter and get $25 off right off the bat. I'll leave the link below on how to enter it's also in the bio of my instagram as well. The giveaway lasts through the 22nd of January and they will be the ones contacting you, not me.
Here's your link:https://www.woodwatches.com/g/loveandmascara The watch I'm wearing is the Frankie 35 Mint Dark Sandalwood. They have so many beautiful watches, there is an emerald green one that is absolutely stunning but they're all stunning. Many different colors of wood. They can size these watches for you as well. The box it comes in is also all wood and gorgeous with magnetic closures. I'm so impressed. It comes packaged very well with a cleaning cloth and there is a little drawer at the bottom that slides out of the box for you to put extra links in and stuff. They done a fantastic job. Like I said I will be talking more in depth about this later (with a few more ways to style it) I just wanted the giveaway to be posted as soon as possible for you. "It's the most wonderful time of the yearrrrrr........", NO! It's the most stressful, wonderful time of the year, am I right? Don't get me wrong I love Christmas and I LOVE giving gifts but sometimes it can get overwhelming, especially if you wait till November/December to start. Nothing wrong with waiting though because you'll no doubt find a better deal and score some awesome stuff. I however, refused to be stressed this holiday season and literally bought my first Christmas present for this year, after Christmas of last year. I found a major sale so I picked something up for someone. Then I waited a bit and got started in February, yes that's right, February. So I've been buying a present or two each month and I've been done for quiet a while. Still have to pick up some candy though for my husband. Anyway, since I know it can be difficult to decide what to get, I'm doing my usual gift guide. This year however, I went a bit different. Usually I only do Sephora I think but this year, I have stuff from Sephora, Ulta, MAC, Lush, etc. None of this was sponsored by the way. I just wanted to give you more options. So starting with Sephora, let's talk makeup. There are several things out right now in their "value sets" that would be great gifts. I just narrowed it down to what I thought would be good gifts that I either have or would be super excited to get.
Skincare is tricky. So I don't usually recommend going that way unless you know what someone likes or they're just really wanting to try new stuff, or possibly they don't have a skin care regimen to begin with. So for that I found some things that I think would be good gifts to start with and then good gifts to just try and see if you would like it.
Next up is a couple really good sets for hair. Some people are makeup junkies, some are skin care junkies, and some are hair care junkies.
Now lets head on over to Ulta. I picked out a few things only because they have massive Black Friday sales. So definitely check that out on Black Friday online or in store.
MAC always puts out beautiful Holiday sets. They put out collections 24./7 but Holiday sets are always beautiful and you know there will be a pigment set, eyeshadow palette, lip sets, and so on. Those are the staples. Now I will say of all the stuff they release I stick to face powders like blushes, skin finishes, highlighters and so on, loose pigment sets (you can't go wrong there), and lip sets (again you can't go wrong). For gift's though I would stick to lip sets or the blush and highlight duo I've included. It's out of stock online but it's usually still available in store. I don't care for their eye palettes they just aren't the best quality if I'm being completely honest. I do however LOVE these lip gloss sets this year. I love all of them but especially the nude and the red set. They're mini but still pretty good sized and the colors are beautiful. I would give that as a gift for sure especially for a teen who's into makeup or a gift for a friend. I'm also bringing in some bath products and the most unique bath products I've found have to be from LUSH. They make fantastic products period not just bath stuff and it's hand made I believe as well. They also always have gift sets. So I included some gift sets I thought would be the best value and looked the coolest. As you can see there are some that have more than bath bombs, bath melts, and bubble bars, they also have some soaps and shower jellies. There are more online of course that offer shampoo's, conditioners, and so on. So if you know someone who really enjoys their bath time and likes to pamper theirself. I would get them some LUSH products for sure. The bath bombs alone would make them enjoy it 10x more with all the colors and scents swirling around them. Also I find that unless you have an enormous tub it's best to break the bath bombs, bubble bars or bath melts apart so that you get more use out of them. So maybe half now, and half later sorta thing.
I'm going to leave some honorable mentions here: Morphe Gun Metal Brush Set has 7 brushes from the Gun Metal line that I love, and is $50. I'm sure there will be a Black Friday sell though. This will be under "Brush Sets" on their site. Pay attention to the shipping though. Shipping was $10 the last time I got something from Morphe and I won't lie that turned me off to buying from them lately. They went to USPS for a short while and it was great but now they're back to strictly Fedex I think. That may have been for just the palette I was buying though. Never the less, pay attention to that. Bauble Bar Holiday Sets. Bauble Bar has some really beautiful boxed sets and jewelry pieces right now for the Holidays. I really love their boxed set of statement earrings they have. They also have a code for 30% off their Holiday pieces right now with code: Holiday30. Makeup Geek has and is often releasing bundles of eyeshadows with palette included. They recently had a warm berry toned fall one. It almost always has at least 2 foiled shadows in it. Watch Marlena's twitter and also their Instagram for flash sales that pop up. I believe last year they did a 12 days of Christmas sale or something of the sort. You get 9 shadows typically and always for a good price. I love Makeup Geek shadows as you well know. **UPDATE** They have released the preview for Black Friday Sales which you can scope out now. It's killer! https://www.makeupgeek.com/sales.html If you know someone who is a true makeup junkie then storage can be a good gift. Some people don't get excited over that but I do. Clear acrylic drawer containers are awesome cause they can be stacked and de clutter your vanity. Also a brush holder is always nice. I used wine glasses for the longest time until I found a turning six compartment pencil holder I guess was what it was designed for but I put my brushes in it and it works wonderfully plus I love that it spins around in a circle. As always for the person who has everything, gift cards are great. I love gift cards. If you won't be able to see someone to exchange presents due to distance or whatever than you can send e-gift cards through email, I've done that as well. Some people say it's not personal or they just never use them but I always put mine to good use. Here's some stores that will have black friday and cyber monday sales:
